[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Announcement
Good Evening, Some weeks nothing goes right, this was not one of them. Light rain then sun and mild temperatures. More flowers and more birds. Snow is melting above me so streams are full. The ground was dry enough to let me check the forest. I have much less damage than my neighbors. Their trees are quite a bit younger, they snapped where green wood met more mature timber. Clear growth assures trees will survive; any kinks or forks can be fatal to them. The sunspot number is low and the flux rate is lower too. However, the sun has been quite active this week. There is still a possible earth effective flare from 3615. I expect a more quiet band than we have had lately. Less roaring. There may even be less QSB. But there should be no whistling from clouds of protons, or hissing from high speed electrons. Just normal random noises with (hopefully) more ordered Morse code. If the gaps in the noise are rhythmic enough you are easy copy :) Please join us on (or near): 14050 kHz at 2200z Sunday (3 PM PDT Sunday) 7047 kHz at z Monday (5 PM PDT Sunday) 73, Kevin. No. It occurs after the KPA switches from STBY to OPER. With the KPA turned off, the overshoot occurs on the first key press after I switch from CW to SSB. Perhaps a transmit gain calibration is in order. I use the K3 Utility for this purpose and a known good 50 ohm dummy load. The radio will do the rest. I think I will do that. I bought this K3 used, and the TX EQ had some very odd settings, so who knows what else might be hosed-up. :-) Thanks for the suggestion. 73, Mike N4CF __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Re: [Elecraft] N-GEN replacement
Bruce, You might try replacing the diode in the N-Gen. If that does not work, then look at the Noise Generator that N0SS (SK) published. It is available at http://www.mmccs.com/mmarc/n0ss/noise_source.pdf. If you have board etching capability, the board shown is full size - although you can wire it point to point with only a board (or cardboard) to hold the components. I built one with no board at all (Wes Hayward's Micro Mountaineer style), and it works fine. 73, Don W3FPR On 3/30/2024 4:41 PM, Bruce Rosen wrote: I see that Elecraft no longer sells the N-GEN wide band noise generator. [Elecraft] N-GEN replacement

Re: [Elecraft] What is K3 Fault 6?
Hi Pete, Check the KPA1500 fault log using KPA1500 Utility. Amp fault codes starting with "6" (such as fault 60) are displayed on the K3 as fault 6. 73, Wayne N6KR > On Mar 30, 2024, at 6:42 AM, Pete Smith N4ZR wrote: > > I have seen this a couple of time when my KPA1500 throws the Excessive power > input fault.
