Re: [Elecraft] 4-pound Field Day, anyone?
I kind of like the LiFePo4's myself. I am using the 4s1p (2.3Ah) and 4s2p (4.6Ah) packs from Buddipole. They run from 14V to 12V before needing a charge. Not associated with them in any way, just like their batteries and chargers. [Elecraft] WANTED - Buddipole Low Voltage Alarm
I purchased a very nice battery for my KX3 from Buddipole. They used to sell a Low Voltage Alarm which used powerpoles. They are no longer making these so I thought I would ask here if anyone has a used unit they would like to part with? Please respond off list to wownu...@gmail.com I just love my KX3. [Elecraft] My new KX3
I resisted buying the KX3 until now. WOW what a radio! I never thought I would find something to replace my favorite K2 but this is really it. What a wonderful receiver it has! Re: [Elecraft] K2 KSB2 help please
OK Don - here is what I found. First I checked pin 2 on the KSB2. It was ok and I checked continuity from pin 2 to R12 and from R12 to U1 Pin 28. All checked out OK. I then checked the soldering of J11 pin 2. I touched it up and double checked for solder bridges. KSB2 was reinstalled and it showed 5.56 volts on pin 28. I setup SSB filter F1 for OPT1 on CW and USB and LSB. I show 0 volts on pin 22 in receive USB or LSB. I show 0 volts on pin 21 in receive USB or LSB. On CW transmit I show 0 volts on TXC signal U1 pin 12. On SSB transmit I show 0 volts on TXS signal U1 pin 15. Thanks! [Elecraft] K2 KSB2 help please
I finished my KSB2 module and pluged it in. I get the normal Elecraft when powering up but I can not go further. I am getting -- on the menu items SSBA and SSBC. I tried to do some voltage check and got 6 volts on U1 pin 1. I removed U1 and checked for bent or broken pins. I checked orientation of all diodes and electrolitics. I examined the board for solder bridges and reflowed solder on the parts that looked a bit bare. Now I am stuck. You are right Don. I could just count them myself. I was just being lazy and wondered if anyone had already done a K2 parts count. If I decide to do it, I will post my result here. Re: [Elecraft] K2 #7375 Progress!
Moving steadily through the RF board assembly Part 2. I have been slowed by waiting for Elecraft to send me a couple of parts. Two Resistor Packs that were in the kit for the control board were the wrong type. They were sent right away. The other missing part may be my own fault. I was sure it was here earlier but can't find it now at all. Turned the place upside down looking for it. Oh well, just a short wait for Elecraft and the USPS. This is my 4th K2 by the way. Re: [Elecraft] K2 #7375 Beginning construction!
I have played with a KX3. I own a K3/100. I built a KX1 and K1. For some reason I just love the K2. It just feels right to me. I have my K3 and my Dads old K2 sitting side by side and I always turn on the K2. Not sure why this is. Maybe it is the simplicity of the rig. I don't know but I just had to build another K2! I sold one (mistake) then inherited my dads after he became a silent key. I will put his on the shelf to remember him and use my new one when done. I think it will be a basic K2/10 with no SSB and only the DSP and ANT tuner. -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/K2-7375-Beginning-construction-tp7564374p7564411.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Elecraft] Power Cord Questions
I purchased the power cord with fuses from Powerwerx, item RGH-10 - http://www.powerwerx.com/fuses-circuit-protection/atc-inline-fuse-holder-ring-terminals-10-gauge.html - It is hooked up to my Astron RM-35M and I use the Elecraft provided power supply cord from the fuses to the radio. It seems like an elegant solution. It provides me with peace of mind even if having the fuses might be overkill. At the moment I am using the 40 amp fuses that came with the adapter. I may change them out for a smaller value later but I'm not sure if I should or not. 73 Keith N8CEP K3 #6219 -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/Power-Cord-Questions-tp7360239p7382121.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] Power Cord Questions
I was not sure about the power drop question when I purchased it. My astron is about 4 feet from the radio on the floor. I am not sure how long the standard Elecraft power supply cord is but the Powerwerx adapter adds an additional 1.5 feet. My K3 now shows a voltage of 13.6 volts, a drop of .2 volts? This assumes the K3 is accurate of course. I think this is well within the voltage required by the K3 is it not? -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/Power-Cord-Questions-tp7360239p7382217.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] Power Cord Questions
Well I just ordered replacement fuses for the Powerwerx adapter. Looking at the power requirements of the K3, I thought the 40 amp fuses supplied were a bit too heavy. I had some 25 amp fuses here at home but I thought they might be a little light for the K3. I decided to purchase 30 amp fuses to use in the Powerwerx holders. -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/Power-Cord-Questions-tp7360239p7382262.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
