As I sit and look at my station and my K-Pod, just remember Dayton is not
that far away, and Wayne, Eric and the rest of the crew have been very very
quiet. Remember they're very good at blowing people out of the water
remember there was a radio that came out last year that caught everybody
flat-footed  .. esp the competition.

[Elecraft] K-Pod Macros

2017-02-16 Thread Joe Stone (KF5WBO)
According to the manual, through a future firmware upgrade, the K-Pod will be
able to function as a USB HID (Human Interface Device) such as a keyboard or
mouse. Conceivably, the eight K-Pod tap and hold switches could be mapped
to 16 P3 / PX3 macros. You could even implement three “banks” of 16 macros
for a total of 48 K-Pod macros. Of course, this assumes: 1. you have a P3
equipped with the SVGA option or a PX3; 2. you’re not already using a
keyboard in conjunction with your P3 / PX3 (this would require USB hub
support); and 3. you haven’t already burned all 50 of your P3 / PX3 macros
(unlikely).

In a nutshell, I’m assuming if the K-Pod is to function as a USB HID
keyboard, the tap and hold switches would correspond to standard keyboard
keys (including combinations of Ctrl, Alt and Shift modifiers). The keys
would be assigned to macros on the P3 / PX3. This wouldn’t require any
change to the P3 / PX3.  The P3 / PX3 wouldn’t be able to differentiate the
K-Pod from a keyboard (which it already supports).

With a P3, the K-Pod knob could continue to control the K3s/K3 via the data
connector. With the PX3, the K-Pod knob would present itself as a mouse.
Of course, this would require the beforementioned Mouse-n-Click QSY support.
Alternatively, if you wanted the K-Pod knob to control the P3, the
Mouse-n-Click QSY support could be leveraged there as well.

[Elecraft] K-POD macros 9-16 on Mac or Linux

2016-10-03 Thread Mark Meland via Elecraft
Short of running the windows version of the K3 utility in a VM, has anyone
found a way to edit K-POD macro slots 9 through 16 on their MacOS or Linux
system?
Thanks,

Re: [Elecraft] K-Pod macros Around?

2016-09-29 Thread Ron D'Eau Claire
See the Owner's Manual (rev C) that I provided the link to:
http://www.elecraft.com/manual/E740285%20KPOD%20Owner's%20Manual%20Rev%20C.p
df

>From Page 7, "Operating the K-Pod":

"Macros are launched at the K-Pod using tap and hold presses of switches F1
through F8 just as you tap and hold front panel switches on your K3S/K3:

"Holding switches F1 through F8 for 1/2 second or more launches K3S/K3
macros 1 through 8. Tapping switches F1 through F8 (holding for less than
1/2 second) launches K3S/K3 macros 9 through 16."

Of course, you choose which locations where you want to store each macro in
the K3 in the Utility program just as in the past, and locations 1 through
16 are automatically assigned to the K-Pod switches (buttons) as described
above.

The owner's manual is growing as more information is added.

Beautiful! That's the Rosetta Stone I
needed; From 9 on down to 16 in the
Command Tester in the Utility:

9 = F1
10 = F2
11 = F3

And so on to

16 - F8

Maybe they will mention that in the next Rev of the owner's manual.

Thank you all, now I'll have to figure out the more complex macros and how I
might want to use them but that will come. And thanks to those who provided
links to help me out as well, I will certainly check them out.

Re: [Elecraft] K-Pod macros Around?

2016-09-29 Thread Don Wilhelm

Gary and all,

The K-Pod buttons activate macros 1 thru 16.
For instance, a hold of the F1 button activates Macro 1 and a tap
activates Macro 9.

So you create a Macro for those macro numbers. It is a subtle point,
but you do not assign the K-Pod buttons to any random macro, that is
pre-assigned. Place the desired macro into the proper numbered slot in
the K3.

Re: [Elecraft] K-Pod macros Around?

2016-09-28 Thread Gary Smith
I've been trying to find the info I am
looking for but I must be dumber than a
box of New England boulders.

With the immediate goal of tapping the
K-Pod buttons to do the following:

F3 = M3 (macro SWT35)
F4 = M4 (macro SWT39)
F7 = M1 (macro SWT21)
F8 = M2 (macro SWT31)

I haven't found out how to make the F
buttons fire a specific macro. Some of the
info below was very helpful, such as SWT21
and that helped me figure out more.

But how do I ascribe a button on the K-Pod
top a specific desired macro?

[Elecraft] K-POD Macros

After seeing that the LED programming functionality for the K-POD was
available, I received the beta for the utility and the firmware for the POD.
Very cool. I'm not sure what others are doing, but here is how I have my K-POD
programmed:

F1 - tap turns on D1, puts radio in split, turns on sub rx and moves xmtr up 2.
Hold clears all and turns D1 off

F2 - tap turns on D2 and does the same as above but up 5. Hold clears

F3 - tap is Mon on, hold is Mon off

F6 - tap turns on XIT and lights D3; hold turns XIT off and turns off D3

F7 - tap clears RIT

F8 - tap turns on RIT and lights D4; hold turns off RIT and D4.

It's all pretty convenient (for me, at least!)...
