We found this easier than ordering through our print shop and then

Might try a local equivalent to Kinko (FEDEX).

Re: [Elecraft] ELECRAFT MACRO PROGRAMMING BOOK BY FRED CADY

2020-10-09 Thread Clay Autery
Dude  just print it yourself on your chosen paper stock.  You can
spiral bind it yourself at OfficeMax, et al.  OR you can send it off and
have it bound.

Or just punch holes and put it in a folder or a notebook.

I have a FULL set of the latest Elecraft docs, et al. including ALL my
Cady books printed and in notebooks for flat, easy reference.

Practice on a small, multi-page doc to get your printer settings
optimized  I print best quality, two-sided, standard paper... Works
great!

You may want to check with Lulu.com

They may print you 1 copy for your use, which is allowed under US copyright
law…. For an extra charge of course. I believe the procedure would be purchase
the pdf, download it, the submit it through their web site tool for on demand
printing…

I was looking for the last version of the Cady K3S P3 book and purchased the
pdf, but the found a printed copy, which I purchased. I want a
macro-programming book also, and may try what I have outlined above.

[Elecraft] Macro Naming in PX3

2020-05-29 Thread Grant Youngman
The PX3 Utility has a field for naming macros. I put macros for the KX3 in the
PX3. Everything works fine.

But … if there is a way to get the macro name entered in the Utility to show up
in the PX3 function buttons, I can’t find it. So I just have to remember which
button on the PX3 does what — and I’m old and memory challenged :-)

Is that the way it is? Or have I missed something obvious somewhere? Is there
a way to change the button descriptor?

Thanks ..

[Elecraft] Macro to change Serial from RS232 39400 to USB and back...

2020-05-13 Thread Gerry Hull
Hey folks,

This is a technical one where I'm not sure of the correct macro.

Situation:

K3s, Remote via RRC 1258, using the serial connection.
However, we want an alternate remote that is supported by N1MM on the
desktop.

Therefore, I want to be able to switch between USB and RS-232 ports for rig
control.

When on the Remote, I can just use the K3/0 menu to switch to USB, at which
time I'll
lose rig control.

Then, using Anydesk/Teamviewer/etc ... I can connect N1MM on the remote PC
and play radio over the USB port.

However, I won't have a way to set the rig back to RS-232 38400 to use
RemoteRig again...

Solution?

However, there seems to be the RS232 MN057; macro, which gets you to the
RS232 menu setting. I'm just looking for the right sequence to go either
direction; obviously, I'll need to be connected on the right port to move
control back

And... I'll only test this when I'm local in the station! :-)

Any help appreciated.

73,

[Elecraft] Macro programming odditys

2019-05-26 Thread Kurt Theis
In addition to my prior question, I've noticed an oddity when using macros,
and wonder if anyone has a resolution:

When I recall frequency/mode data from a channel, sometimes (but not
always) the cwt indicator will pop up. Also every now and then rit will
turn on. Neither of these seem to be related to any particular band, mode
or channel number.

My installed firmware is 5.14 for the MCU, 1.19 for the FPF and 2.83 for
the DSP1. My K3 serial is 89xx.

Anyone see this or have any hints to a resolution?

SWT15;MC099;SWT15;

It works, but when using the command tester of the k3 utility I receive a

Should I ignore the error? Anyone have a working example? Is there a better

Re: [Elecraft] Macro for K3/K3s and FT8?

2018-02-07 Thread Dave Cole (NK7Z)

Hi,
I have a short blog post on adding an external control keypad to the K3 at:

http://nk7z.net/adding-external-keypad-k3/

About halfway down is a link to the CP48_Master-Spreadsheet, which is a
spreadsheet where I keep about 20 macros.

There is also Fred Cady's book, "Elecraft Macro Programming", which in
addition to being the best reference on Elecraft macros, has a lot of
finished examples.

73s and thanks,

I see that the IS and FW (or BW, recommended by the K3 programmer's manual) can
do this -- has anyone developed a macro like this for this application?

Example: FT8 on 20m uses the dial frequency of 14074.00, USB. If I'm trying to
hear a station at 1800Hz, I'd like to narrow my RX passband to be between
14075.77 and 14076.10 (ft8 bw is 50Hz). But also want to go back to a 2.4 kHz
bandwidth.  I might also want to transmit outside the parameters of my RX
passband, e.g. in this example, I might transmit tones from 800-850 Hz.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro for setup of K3S for WSJT

2017-12-13 Thread Bob McGraw K4TAX
As to bandwidth for RX, since the transmit data is limited in bandwidth
to the SSB bandwidth, I see no need to have the receiver BW any wider
than the TX bandwidth.  Also, the RX low end likely doesn't need to be
any lower than the TX bandwidth low end roll off.  Of course if you have
SPLIT selected in the software then the TX can effectively operate lower
by shifting the VFO accordingly.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro for setup of K3S for WSJT

2017-12-13 Thread Don Wilhelm

Dick,

While it is true that the input *can* be Line In for DATA A - it is not
the default (like on a Factory new K3 or K3S, when you first go to DATA
A mode you must use the MIC SEL to set it to LINE. After doing that, it
will be 'sticky'.

FT8 uses a very wide bandwidth (if available), and using the 13kHz
filter, you can stretch the K3/K3S bandwidth to 4kHz. The bandwidth is
limited to 4kHz because there is a low pass filter that takes away the
high frequency hiss and noise that is present on the bands, and several
hams find quite objectionable when listening to it for a significant
period of time.

While that high frequency "crud" is not a problem for digital modes,
there is not a way to turn off the LPF.

Why not use DATA A mode for JT65? You can set the input for DATA A to LIN
IN while leaving the input for voice modes on FP.H. You can switch between
voice modes and JT65 just using the MODE button, with no need for macros or
menus.

AFAIK you can't use MP for the RP, FP controls.

You would need to select the MIC menu using MN053 then a series of DN and UP
commands to move through the menu parameters.

MN053;DN;DN;MN255; will set Front Panel

MN053;DN;DN;UP;MN255; will set Rear Panel

MN053;DN;DN;UP;UP;MN255; will set Line In

When I go to set them back I use:

When I go to use the mic, it does not work. When I look at the menu items they
are set correctly. To get the mic to work, I have to toggle MIC BTN manually.
Once I do that everything is fine.

Anyone have any idea if I’m doing something wrong or I am missing something

Re: [Elecraft] Macro save current state of setting

I figured that - I was hoping for some magic :-) Maybe Elecraft can implement
a push/pop stack feature. For example:

PUSH TUN - save tune power
PUSH AG - save audio gain - just for grins - it’s an example
TUN 10
AG 0
SWH 16 - initiate TUNE
DE 10 - wait 100ms
SWH 16 stop tune
POP AG - restore tune
POP TUN - restore tune power.

That’s the dream. I know I’d like it.

Joe,

Your problem is that Macros cannot read anything and save it. They can
only initiate things. Setting the power to 10 watts and initiating a
TUNE is quite possible (and even spelled out in the Macro examples in
the K3 Programmer's Reference), but getting the power back to wherever
it was previously set is the difficult part. you could restore the
power to some predetermined level - say 100 watts.

on my K3S, and, after that I bought a K-POD, on this last great accessory.
Used it for split, unsplit, full power and lower power for amp, two different
settings for AGC THR, continuously changing if filters.I have just opened the
pdf book, it seem really a great work.I want to make better use of K-POD, i
hope it will help me.73 de Ian IK4EWX

Re: [Elecraft] Macro for text decode

I think the UPB and DNB are still on the list for the KX3.

I stand corrected.
At some point early last year, the K3 firmware was updated to use the UPB;
and DNB; which will allow changing of the text decode in CW. Prior to that,
the UPB; and DNB; commands did nothing when the SWH40; command was issued
and therefore made it impossible to set text decode on or off without using
the remote control K3/0 protocol.

So the way to put the radio into text decode is as follows:
SWH40; UPB;UPB;UPB:UPB; and then you issue as many DNB; as you wish to
choose the setting. You can do it the other way around as well.
SWH40;DNB;DNB;DNB;DNB; and then UPB; for TX Only, another UPB; for CW5-30
and then UPB; for CW 30-90.

The multiple UPB; s are used to put the setting into a known state since
there are 5 states to the menu item and you could be anywhere in the
sequence.
It is good that the UPB; and DNB; commands don't cycle though the list
continuously. There are a couple of commands like that which then require
reading the VFOB display to determine where you are.

It should work fine now if timing isn't an issue.

Harry,

Turning CWT is no more complicated than operating the CWT button, but
there are other things that may be involved to achieve successful
decode. Narrowing the bandwidth is one that comes to mind so the
decoder does not have to deal with band noise and other nearby signals.
There are other controls that can enhance the decoding.
In other words, it may produce better results by careful tuning and
other manual controls instead of trying to depend on a a "one button"
macro initiation to provide clear CW decode.
Besides, the human ear is the best interpreter of CW - it will be better
than any CW decoder implemented in software. A CW decoder can usually
interpret perfect code, but it will have trouble with code sent from a
bug with a "lake Erie swing" or code sent from a hand key unless the
sending operator has perfect timing (rare).
Listen to CW so your brain can interpret it without relying on CW
decoders, and you will go a long way toward increasing your CW speed.
20 wpm is the initial goal you should strive for.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro for text decode

2017-01-03 Thread Ron D'Eau Claire
As Don noted, it should be quite simple.

SWH40;

Toggles the text decode function.

Use the VFOB knob to choose the speed range, threshold setting or OFF.

I assume you want to control Text Decode remotely with a KPOD since it gains
you nothing to assign that to one of the K3 front panel switches instead of
pressing the K3 TXT DEC switch.

You can assign that macro to any of the first 16 locations in the K3 so you
can launch it from the KPOD. Use the KPOD rocker switch to enable control of
the VFO B function at the KPOD to choose the speed range, threshold setting
or OFF.

macro has been written to preform this function?

Re: [Elecraft] Macro sequencing

2016-11-13 Thread Cady, Fred
Here ya go.

Toggle AGC THR between 012 and 020
Toggle AGC THR between 012 and 020 by holding M1
Uses Macro 4 and Macro 5 and M1.
Assign the following to Macro 4:

MN074; Select the AGC THR menu.
MP020;   Set THR to 020;
SWT14; Tap the MENU switch to exit this menu.
MN110; Enter the MACRO n menu.
SWT27; Tap the 5 switch.
SWH21; Hold M1. (This assigns M1 to the commands in Macro 5 for the next
hold.)
MN255; Exit menu mode.

MN074;MP020;SWT14;MN110;SWT27;SWH21;MN255;

Assign the following to Macro 5:

MN074; Select the AGC THR menu.
MP012;   Set THR to 012;
SWT14; Tap the MENU switch.
MN110; Enter the MACRO n menu.
SWT24; Tap the 4 switch.
SWH21; Hold M1. (This assigns M1 to the commands in Macro 4 for the next
hold.)
MN255; Exit menu mode.

MN074;MP012;SWT14;MN110;SWT24;SWH21;MN255;

Enter the CONFIG:MACRO x menu and tap 4.
Hold M1 to program it to execute MACRO 4.
Each time you hold M1 the threshold switches between 012 and 020.

Using a K*Pod button to toggle AGC THR.

A K*Pod button cannot directly replace the M1 function key in the Toggle THR
macro (above)
but you can use a K*Pod button to activate a macro that holds M1.
SWH21; Hold M1.

Write this macro to one of the 16 in the K3S/K3 and tap or hold the
corresponding K*Pod switch.

Fred, can you specify the macro for setting two different options of AGC, for
example:

a) thr 10 - slp 5
B) thr 6 - slp 12

I would like to set them both on PF2 and on different macros on K-Pod.

I have seen examples on your K3S book that I own and on ham web pages. I have
programmed split+2 on and off on PF1, and on K-Pod, pwr 100 and pwr 65 (for
driving amp), but dont understand how to set these values for AGC in a macro.

Ogg: [Elecraft] Macro sequencing

We have seen some great macro ideas where a single function key is used to
toggle between two different K3 states, e.g. in and out of split, toggling
between two AGC THR settings, etc. Unfortunately, this idea cannot be used
(directly) with a KPod button. Each of the the 16 KPod buttons are dedicated
to a single macro and cannot be changed like the function key assignments can.

However, I just twigged onto the thought that you can assign a third macro to
be activated by a KPod key that then toggles the macro sequence. For example,
if you use a hold of PF2 to toggle in and out of split, that uses Macro 7 and
Macro 8 (say) you can assign SWH47; to Macro 9 and then tap the KPod F1 key to
run Macro 7 and then Macro 8 in sequence.

Don't why I didn't think of it before or if I missed it when somebody else
mentioned it.

have a good weekend all.

[Elecraft] Macro delay help

2016-10-18 Thread K5MWR via Elecraft
Admittedly a neophyte in learning the ins and outs of writing macros so
forgive if this question has already been addressed.

I am trying to place macros in the P3 SVGA memories and have run into
the problem that appears the K3 response time for doing band changes is
preventing the ability to write a complex macro. Is there a way to
insert delays into the macro to allow band change (possibly other
functions) to complete?

An example of what I am trying to do is below where a band change at the
start results in having to run the macro twice to work. It depends on
what prior band was in use. My desire is to switch from other
bands/modes to specific operating frequencies and have the P3 span and
center freq be specific.

Appreciate any pointers.

2016-09-14 Thread Jwahar Bammi

Thanks Nick,
Very handy tool, nicely done like all your stuff.
Suggestion: Please allow frequency entry with common suffixes like k, M,
G etc instead of the error prone entry in Hz or allow scientific
notation like E3, E6 etc if that is more convenient from a field parsing
point of view.

2016-09-14 Thread Bill
Nice job! Next comes all the utility of chaining macros together - you
are only limited by your imagination (or lack of). So far so good on my
Genovation keypad and K-pod. Macros make the K3 for me - no other rig
can compare, except perhaps for the K3S.

Now, if I could just write a macro to get the lawn mower to do the lawn
without me hanging onto it!!

[Elecraft] Macro Spread Sheet Update

2016-04-07 Thread Dave Cole
Hello,

For those of you who put together a Genovation external keypad I have
updated the Macro spread sheet located at:

http://nk7z.net/adding-an-external-keypad-to-the-k3/

About 3/4 of the way down the article you will find a link to the new
spreadsheet.

Macro 35 sets the K3 power to 25 Watts, and Macro 36 Sets the K3 power
to 100 Watts.  The template for printing Generation key caps has been
updated to reflect the two new commands.

If you did not do a Genovation Keypad, the macros are still good to use
if you enter them into the P3.

[Elecraft] Macro Questions on a KX3

2016-03-21 Thread Randy Diddel
Good day,

I wrote this about a week ago and nobody responded so I am asking
again. Maybe Wayne or Eric can field it:

I am programming Macros for my KX3. Recent financial issues have
relegated me back to just my trusty KX3 for all things HF. When in
the shack, I usually operate low power digital modes and have my macro
nearly perfect. The one parameter I cannot get right is to switch
ESSB so I am able to TX in the upper part of the JT area and use
JT9-ESSB works great for this! As you can see below, I am trying to
use the MN096 and a toggle (MP00) to set the bit to on, but it does
not work. I am certain it is just a syntax error. Also, for when I
am doing voice and SOTA, I would like the command to do the opposite
and turn off ESSB.

Digital Macro:
TE-00-00-00-00+00+00+00+00;PA0;MG001;AG004;BW0400;IS
1500;PC150;ML000;MD2;CP000;SWT21;MN096;MP00;*CP000;SWH09

SSB/Voice Macro
TE-16-16-10-06+04+06+08+12;*MD2;CP025;*MG020;BW0240;SWH34;ML000;AG002;IS
1350;PC150;*SWH09;

As always, TIA,

I usually set the THR on CW decode to about 3 for reliable copy. I would
like

to create macros to change it to 3 and 4 and also auto.

Can some one help me figure these out?

Oh and by the way the new P3 beta is awesome. Thanks

I use the decode as a backup to myself I guess I have not learned to have
confidence in my decode. Plus during dx or contest people fly with code, so
I need help there.

Thanks again.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro Library Repository and K3/K3S/KX3 Utility Programs

2016-02-04 Thread Jim McDonald
Why not upload them to the Elecraft_K3 Yahoo Group files area?

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Elecraft_K3/files

I and others uploaded several K3 user-defined controls for DXLab's Commander
rig control module to the DXLab Yahoo Group Files area a few years ago.
Commander allow many more macros than the buttons on the radio do, and they can
be executed by pressing a mouse button or an F-key. I think it's pretty easy
to create them in Commander.

You can download them and use them without rekeying them.

Information on Commander user-defined controls (sequences and sliders) is
available at:
http://www.dxlabsuite.com/commander/Help/CommandSequences.htm .

Since macros are only text files, I personally have no need of fancy
functionality in a library or utility. The current Elecraft K3 utility works
beautifully.

So for me, a simple Web site (or shared Google doc) listing macro examples is
all the functionality that I think is needed.

[Elecraft] Macro Library Repository and K3/K3S/KX3 Utility Programs

2016-02-04 Thread Phil Hystad
The recent comments regarding Wayne’s new Noise Blanker experiment reminded me
of something I wanted to suggest awhile back but forgot all about it.

This has to do with Macros and command sequences used to program or alter some
specific setting in a temporary (maybe) way. Many of these are posted here as
well as found on some web sites including Elecraft.

But, there is something missing that would be nice. And, that is a documented
library hosted on Elecraft’s web site as well as a utility program feature to
automatically download and manage the macro programs.

As a library, the documentation should be embedded in the Macro file itself per
a standard format that declares the purpose (brief abstract), more detailed
user instructions, and any known side effects. Also, author’s name and date
and maybe a revision history.

The utility programs would include a new feature to download (maybe abstracts
or complete macro file) and list available macro programs displaying the brief
abstract on the display. The utility program would allow the user to select
macros for download that copy them to a known location on the user’s computer
managed by the utility program. Also, this new feature set would support the
loading of the macro to the K3/K3S/KX3. Actually, a very nice “extra” would be
to undo the macro act. Of course, this could get complicated since a Macro can
do anything and many things that should not be done. But, one way to undo is
to automatically save and then allow restoration of the rig settings, say in
some kind of test mode. Of course, this could be done by the user but it might
be faster to do it as part of a test sequence supported by the utility program.

It seems like the only complicate part of this process is setting up a
repository and managing it in a way that ensures the integrity of the
standards: documentation, layout, and anything else. The enhancements to the
utility programs do not seem to be all that hard to do (I am a retired
programmer of about 50 years programming experience).

There could be a network of volunteers that accept the new macros to be
included and they test and vet those macros per the definition of purpose and
the standards set forth for this repository.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro programming for KX3

2015-03-10 Thread Matt VK2RQ
I had a quick look at the programmer's reference, and saw some commands:
IC will read the status of the OFS LED
MP can be used to set the VFO OFS menu setting (maybe setting to off and back
to on will put the OFS LED in a known state?)
SWT can be used to tap the OFS knob, which will toggle the LED

Maybe if you have a play with these commands you'll find out what is possible.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro programming for KX3

2015-03-10 Thread Don Wilhelm

Geoff,

Switch 35 Tap will toggle it. I do not see an explicit command to set
it to VFO B.

You can explicitly set the frequency of VFO B with the FB command.
I do not understand the utility of simply changing the Offset/VFO B
switch if you have to turn the knob. If it is set incorrectly, just tap
the knob - but then, you have apparently not presented the entire
picture of what you are trying to accomplish via the macro.

Follow up on the comment I made below...

Actually, I remember that I made two macros. This is because I do CW a lot
and I wanted to switch my speaker and CM500 headphones separately from
switching the mics. So, a macro for switching speaker/headphones. And, a
macro for switching front and rear microphones.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro for Speakers & Mic

2014-11-16 Thread Phil Hystad
Yes, it can be done. The very first macro I ever did for my K3 was
switching between the front panel mic and speaker to the rear panel
connected CM500.

Unfortunately, I am not at home right now so I can't just go up and
show you the commands but the key to these macros working is that
the settings are reflexive (i.e. switch back and forth).

[Elecraft] Macro for Speakers & Mic

2014-11-16 Thread evetsmd
I use an Icom SM-8 desktop and Yamaha CM500 headset with my K3. I'd like to
switch back and forth using some macro keys
- switch mics making sure only one mic is live at a time,
- shut speaker on/off
- set bias as needed
- adjust tx equalizer for the CM500 and then be able to put it back as it
was for the SM-8

can I do all of this in a macro?
I have no experience using macros on a K3..any help or advice will be
appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

[Elecraft] macro with a serial number

2013-02-07 Thread BILL
does any one know how to write a macro for the P3 SVGA adapter that
will give you a serial number for a contest exchange.

and would they be willing to show me or tell me how?
Thank you,

[Elecraft] Macro to control KPA500

2012-02-01 Thread Bob Wolbert, K6XX
Here is how I toggle KPA500 power from the K3 front panel. I have used it
for a couple of months on my remote station that is controlled by a
prototype K3/0 terminal. It consists of a K3 macro and an additional wire in
the AUX cable between the K3 and the KPA500. This simple control is all that
is really necessary for remotely operating the amp, as it works along with
the AuxBus communications to both enable/disable the amp and also report
what the amp is doing. Amplifier status (power ON, OPER mode, power OFF), as
well as any faults that occur are reported via AuxBus and show up on the
K3's VFO B screen. Even **remotely** on the K3/0!

When you use the KPA500's PWR ON = OPER command to immediately enable
OPERate mode when power is turned ON, switching power has basically the same
effect as toggling between OPER or STBY mode. The main difference is that
instead of being powered ON in standby mode, the amp turns off. Since the
MOSFETs have no filaments to wear during power cycling, this does not
present a problem.

If the amp faults, a message appears on the controlling K3's VFO B display.
Press the macro key once to turn OFF the amp, then again to turn it back on.
(Then turn down the drive power a watt or two so it doesn't happen again!)

Implementation requires two steps.

1) Add a wire to the aux cable connecting DIGOUT1 on the K3 ACC jack to
POWER ON/OFF (Pin 8) on the KPA500 AUX connector.

2) With K3 Utility, program this macro into a K3 function key. (I used PF2,
but any should work).

MN019;MP001;MN255;MN019;MP000;MN255

This macro turns ON DIGOUT1, waits, then turns OFF DIGOUT1. This is
functionally identical to momentarily pressing the KPA500's front panel
power button.

Since this is the first K3 macro I have written, and since it worked the
first time, I did not bother to optimize it to use the minimum reliable wait
times. It is fast enough for my purposes, but you may want to reduce
(eliminate?) the waits.

Known Problem:
DIGOUT1 is used by the PR6 6-meter preamplifier to turn it on and off. I
have the PR6 and formerly used this function. With the AUX cable modified
the way I describe, each time you QSY to 6m, the amp toggles power. Since
this is annoying, I chose to disconnect the white power control wire on the
PR6 and let it run all the time, instead of only when I am on 6m. Then, I
turned OFF DIGOUT1 on 6m (in the K3 menu). Problem addressed, and as far as
I'm concerned, solved...

The K3+K3/0 twin remote station works great and the KPA500 was added without
requiring yet another serial port to manage and access remotely.

No, I don't believe so. The only data that's passed from the K3 to the
KPA500 is the band-data. The AUXBUS carries status back from the
KPA500 to K3, but only in that direction (AFAIK).

Hi Joe,

You can turn the sub RX on/off using "SB1;" and "SB0;". No need to use
the SWT48 switch emulation command, which toggles.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro

2011-09-30 Thread w7ij
This macro is very useful; however, it can get you into a little trouble
with the UP UP Cops if you are in split mode when you access the macro and
forget to turn split off. The cure is to add the FT0 command to the end of
the string. This will take you out of split and does nothing if you are not
in split mode.

RC;RT0;XT0;SWT13;SWT13;SB1;UP5;FT0;

Thanks to Jim for a very nice macro.

Subject: [Elecraft] Macro

This is a K-3 macro that I find useful for general DXing.

To start, assume you are calling a DX station that has several other
callers. You may have used your RIT or XIT or both, in order to get his
attention on the best frequency.Suddenly he announces that he's
listening "up." You need to "split," and fast, in order to be one of the
first callers. You also must turn off the RIT/XIT, bring both receivers
to the same frequency, and start tuning the pileup with the sub receiver.

The other situation is that you arrive on frequency when the DX station
is already listening to a pileup higher in frequency. The drill is
similar. In both these situations you must remember to turn off the
split afterward.

By pushing one button, such as PF1, you initiate a macro that does the
following:

   1. Clears the RIT and/or XIT
   2. Turns off RIT and XIT in case they were on
   3. A>B (all) so both main and sub receiver are identical (if filters
  are identical)
   4. Turn on the sub receiver
   5. Move the main receiver up 2 Khz.

Here is the string:

RC;RT0;XT0;SWT13;SWT13;SB1;UP5;

L mix R is set to A Ab.Now you use the _main_ receiver to tune the
pileup and transmit to the DX station. You did not use the SPLIT button.
By avoiding its use you reduce the chance for transmitting on the wrong
frequency later if you forget to turn it off.You transmit where you are
listening in the pileup with the main vfo.

To return to normal, simply toggle the sub receiver off with a single
keystroke.

[Elecraft] Macro

2011-09-12 Thread Jim McCook

RC;RT0;XT0;SWT13;SWT13;SB1;UP5;

To return to normal, simply toggle the sub receiver off with a single
keystroke.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro for Power Output

It's the PC command. See the K3 Programmer's Reference. PC005; should set
it to 5 watts, PC050; to 50, etc.

What is the K3 macro command set for setting power?

I would think if I had that info I could also build a macro in HRD.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro for Power Output

2011-03-12 Thread K8AC
At least one logging package, DXLab, provides the necessary conditional
statements that allow you to build scripts attached to buttons or sliders
that can accomplish this. For example, I have one button that appears in
the "Commander" (the DXLab application that does PC to K3 communications)
window that reads the band the K3 is set to and then sets the power out to
the value that produces just under the legal limit for my amp on that band.
Using the same facility, you could define a "slider" control that would
increment or decrement the power level by a fixed value each time it was
moused. Or, you could drag the slider to set any desired power level.
Since standard K3 commands are used, when the power level is changed via one
of these controls, the new power level is displayed on the VFO-B section of
the display just as if you had turned the PWR knob.

Re: [Elecraft] Macro for Power Output

2011-03-12 Thread Don Wilhelm
  Lee,

The PC command is both a GET and SET command (see Programmer's reference
for syntax), so yes macros can be created to set the power.
A process where the "nnn" value would be varied requires some "smarts"
in the device sending the macro,
Note that the number in the "nnn" value is dependent on the power range,
so additional commands may be necessary.

It really sounds like you want more computation than is afforded by only
a macro.
i.e. Find the power range, change it if required, compute the correct
value for "nnn", and then send the PCnnn command.

[Elecraft] Macro for Power Output

2011-03-12 Thread Lee Buller

I have not studied the issue in depth if it can be done, but is there a way to
set a macro to step through power settings on the K3 like between 100 watts and
35 watts. Or a macro that sets 25 - 50 - 75 - 100 watts?
