Re: [Elecraft] OT - Gaffers Tape
That and it's great for keeping noisy/nosy onlookers quiet. 8 inches applied just below the nose works fine. 73, Charlie k3ICH -Original Message- From: Elecraft [mailto:elecraft-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Harry Yingst via Elecraft Sent: Monday, May 08, 2017 11:55 PM To: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Elecraft] OT - Gaffers Tape In applications where I don't want to leave any tape residue, instead of duct tape I use gaffers tape. It's something I use in photography but it's finding a place in my radio bag. It holds about the same as duct tape but is easier to rip into strips and leaves less if any residue. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to pin...@erols.com __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] OT - Gaffers Tape
Harry, I've found that, for most applications, painter's tape works well. While not the strength of gaffer's tape (it "rates" about the same as masking tape), a few extra layers, when needed, usually works. The advantage is that it's more readily available and costs less. It doesn't seem to leave any residue, even after having been in place for weeks. I don't know if it's water-proof, but it doesn't disintegrate when wet either. Just an alternative to consider.
