While you're at it, Wayne, would it be possible to extract the signal strength in reports directly from the S-meter reading? RE: [Elecraft] Re: Rediculous, unreasonable and selfish firmware feature request..
I used to give out real S-reports during contests. Too often that confused the other op who then asked for repeats. That slowed down the whole exchange. I finally defaulted to 599 even though the only contest contacts I made were entirely by hand key. It just didn't seem polite to confuse the other guy going for the big score... And I thought that 599 was just an official part of the exchange. :) On Tue, 9 Nov 2004, Ron D'Eau Claire wrote: I used to give out real S-reports during contests. After all, it indicates he is not capable of doing what is being asked by the contest rules. So why should he do well in the contest? best wishes, dave belsley, w1euy ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Not to mention the standard 559 stuff in the QRP contests! 72 / 73HankK8DD At 11/9/2004 01:20 PM, David Pratt wrote: While you're at it, Wayne, would it be possible to extract the signal strength in reports directly from the S-meter reading? I can't argue with you on that point Dave, you'd think that they'd drop it from the exchange. I find that irritating folks tends act like a feed line with a high SWR. The energy I had wanted to radiate just comes back to source and produces overheating and other unwanted side effects. I do that often enough by accident without doing it on purpose...
