If you added backlash you need to increase the STEPGEN_MAXACCEL up to double
the MAX_ACCELERATION in the AXIS section of the INI file for each axis you
added backlash to. LinuxCNC uses "extra acceleration" at a reversal to take up
the backlash. Without backlash correction, step generator acceleration can be
just a few percent above the motion planner acceleration.

That was the page I was looking for, thanks Andy. It also confirms there's
no such critter as a ball nosed tool. Is my memory fading? ISTR the table
at one point back in the fog of about 2003 that it had a box for the tools
tip radius. To the next right of its diameter. Now apparently used for
front and rear angles of a lathe tool only.  Since I've never seen another
controller, if it wasn't in LinuxCNC, I sure don't recall where I did
see it.

Thanks Andy.

So where do I find a description, down to the last comma, of this format
now?

I did find out the old tool.tbl still works, but ack the wiki, its still
incapable

of using  and displaying a BN tool.

Are there any plans to add that?

And I note while trying to get a grid in the viewport, that it doesn't
work. Or

maybe it does but its nowhere near bright enough to see even with the lights
off. Maybe 5% as bright as the machine limits box. Suggestion, green is much
more visible, can that be fixed in an axisrc?

Thank you.

Cheers, Gene Heskett.

As noted by libtiff upstream as well, this function was internal of
tiff and its declaration was in a header file that was not installed
publicly. They could change that without prior notice.
If linuxcnc-uspace still wants to use it, then copy that function[1]
and its details to their source tree. They already done copying with
the _TIFFsetString() function declaration.
Then I can add a break for its older versions for tiff.
