Hello Colleagues,

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the old Eudora font Mishawaka in a
version that will work on Mac OSX 10.5?

iPhone and Entourage synching and viewing

I am using ActiveSynch to access my Exchange Server mail on my iPhone.
Everything is fine except that when I send or reply to a message on my
iPhone and then view the Sent Message in Entourage, it appears as random
text. Is there any way to fix/change this view?

Help us help you: How are you trying to load the old Mishawaka now? What
makes you think the old version doesn't work in Mac OS X 10.5.x? What
happens when you try to use it?

Font Manager indicates it is damaged. When I do try to use it Entourage (and
Word) take much longer to load. After I have been running without a restart
for a while Entourage 'forgets' my Plain Text Font preference and defaults
to Consolas.

Maybe there is a font conflict...

Hi Tom!

That's a known issue with ActiveSync on Exchange Server 2003, which should
be fixed on Exchange Server 2007.

The best workaround that I've seen to date is to add yourself as a BCC
recipient of all your messages on the iPhone. While you can set this to
happen automatically, you can't set this per account. It's all or nothing.

I asked someone at Microsoft why this only affects Entourage but haven't
received a response.

What happens if you bypass FontBook and place the font directly in your User
 Library  Fonts folder (not one of the others, but in this one)?

I tried using Google to search for an answer, and you're not the only one
having trouble, but most of the posts are old -- two years or more -- and
dealt with people accidentally deleting it when they got rid of their OS 9
font folder.

Thanks for the quick response. Are you sure it is not a problem with Exhange 
Server 2007, too? I am using Entourage 2008, Exchange Server 2007 and the 
ActiveSynch that came with the iPhone, which I understand was an old 
implementation.

You might try using Linotype Fontexplorer X.  Free.

That is exactly where I have been placing the font. When I do try to use it
Entourage (and Word) take much longer to load. After I have been running
without a restart for a while Entourage 'forgets' my Plain Text Font
preference and defaults to Consolas.

Maybe there is a font conflict...

Thanks Roger, good suggestion, but Linotype Fontexplorer X just tells me
that Mishawaka is incompatible with Mac OS X and will not load it for me to
examine.

Maybe the font really is damaged as Font Book says.

If you know someone who has a copy of Extensis Suitcase then ask him to use
the FontDoctor application to diagnose and/or repair the file. Other
applications are available for the same function.

Also, Mac OS X creates caches of fonts, which applications will then use.
Your font caches may need cleaning so try a font cache cleaner or a tool
such as Cocktail.

Thanks William - yes I have now tried this - and without Mishawaka my MS
Office programs open even quicker now! Unfortunately I do not know anyone
with the FontDoctor application to test the font - any offers from anyone?

Do you have any old backups that you could use to replace the font. I found
it via my CDFinder, but finding the 1997 CD is another matter. :-)

I've never had LFEx lie to me about a font. There must be some basic
incompatibility.

I wonder if the folks on the Penelope team (the new Open Source Eurdora)
have done anything with the font to make it compatible with the new OS?
