Error Message -17895
Hello All, Just setup a new account and email address and get the following error when receiving email. It does download and Send Emails from the Account despite the error. Error Connection to the server failed or was dropped. Explanation Could not retrieve mail. Account name: Error: -17895 Looked on http://www.entourage.mvps.org/error/number.html but the error is not listed. Anyone know what is happening and why the error occurs and or is shown? -- Do you own or use an Apple Macintosh Computer? A quick search in Google for Entourage error 17895 and I find that Nathan Herring with Microsoft provides this better definition of the error code: This is our internal error netLostConnectionErr, and is generated when Entourage hits eofErr trying to read a network stream from the server and expects more data to be coming. It could also be generated if, when trying to create a connection, we (apparently) successfully authenticate, but then the network connection closes immediately thereafter. http://www.eggheadcafe.com/forumarchives/macofficeentourage/Aug2005/post234 97902.asp The two resolutions that I read in different forums both indicated something was wrong on the mail server side. A third resolution was to change authentication settings. I'm assuming you've set up your .Mac account as IMAP and that for receiving you have none of the *none* of the advanced receiving options selected. Correct? -- bill William M. Re: Error Message -17895
Hello Bill, Thanks for the info. Account is not a Dot Mac account, but an account on my own domain. Have 4 other Accounts that have been working perfectly for over 3 years on this domain, added a new account to be used for my iPhone, and it comes up with the error when Sending or Receiving. All account details are the same, same Mail Servers in and out, same Security, none apart from Password on Receiving of course. Will try deleting the Account in Ent 2008 and recreating, if the problem persists will delete the Account from the Server and recreate, but it all looks ok??? Have you run a sniffer? Test your network with tcpflow. See directions here: http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/tcpflow.html Another application I ran into recently that does the same thing but has a different interface. EavesDropLet it capture some stuff then double-click any of the lines of text in the main window to see more detail. http://www.baurhome.net/software/eavesdrop/index.html Interarchy also allows you to monitor your network traffic. http://nolobe.com/interarchy/ Introduction to Packet Sniffing http://netsecurity.about.com/cs/hackertools/a/aa121403.htm See this article for more sniffers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packet_sniffer -- Diane -- To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/ old-archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/
