Been following this thread since I'm in the same boat. Use Evolution
3.40.4 which was installed on Fedora using dnf. Set up an account to
replace the Basic Auth on using EWS with oauth2. The problem I have
which I haven't seen listed in this thread is the error:

The reported error was “208;reason="The V1AppActAs token
doesn't contain the permissions required by the target
API.";error_category="invalid_grant"”.

So the whole thing with asking for credentials and MFA works fine, just
that I get that error. Anybody knows what it means? I have a feeling it
has nothing to do with Evolution but with how Exchange server is
configured but was hoping somebody was familiar with it.

I believe You have to use Exchange Web Services, not IMAP and the
server address is https://outlook.office365.com/ews/exchange.asmx

Once that authenticates click check for Supported Types and it will
pull Outh2. You should get a pop up somewhere it that process to enter
your Office 365 info.

With  the 3.46.1 version available in Flatpak, Oauth2 is not an
available option to select.

Clicking the button to query the support types removes all the
options other than "Password"

Try creating it as a collection account, rather than as a mail account.
If you don't want/need the other services, you can just disable them
after they are configured.

Likewise here as well, not using flatpak, version 3.44.4.

My account is set up as an EWS type account, using OAuth2 (with MFA!)

In order to get Oauth2 working for 365 I had to remove my account from Online
Accounts in Ubuntu settings, make sure it was completely removed from
Evolution, then manually add the account as ews using
https://outlook.office365.com/ews/exchange.asmx as the server. Once you add it
a window will pop up for Authentication. I just did this again yesterday and a
new setup and it works perfectly.

Based on my own experience (and Milan's) I'm 99% sure that this will
not happen. You'll have to register with the Discourse system.

GNOME have said that once the transition happens, mail to the current
list address will simply bounce.

Expect a more complete announcement soon.

No, I do not think so. The original mail:
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-list/2022-October/msg00128.html
mentions you are invited, which is far from "we move all of you to the
discourse".

I think it makes sense to be only invited, because there are too many
mailing lists, thus too many users, which would mean a lot of work for
the GNOME admins, not talking that some users might be upset by being
forced to a new place (and their email address being "exposed" there).

Bye,
Milan

Does that mean that list subscribers will automatically have some kind
of account setup with discourse, do you know? For those who object to
discourse, it may be safer to unsubscribe now and check the wiki for
further details if that's the case.
