Re: [Felvtalk] vaccine
Hello, I am a veterinary Technician and I see a lot of reactions to the leukemia vaccine. Next time ask your vet about giving your cat an antihistamine an hour before the vaccine. Hope this helps Tanya --- On Wed, 2/4/09, Lynne menar...@cogeco.ca wrote: From: Lynne menar...@cogeco.ca Subject: [Felvtalk] vaccine To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Date: Wednesday, February 4, 2009, 9:56 PM Hi, I'm just curious if any of you had any problems with the feline leukemia vaccine. We had to take our Snowball to the vet on Sunday and decided to have her vaccinated. My husband took her back today because she has been lethargic and out of character for three days. The vet said it could be the vaccine and for whatever reason gave her a shot of prednisone. Re: [Felvtalk] Felvtalk] testing the list and question about prednisone
I think no news means good news on this list. lol. I have a question. I have a cat that is negative, but hyperthyroid, and other health problems. The doctor put him on prednisone and everyone on my hyper thyroid list said NOT to use prednisone but to use prednisolone instead. Hi James, I'm still here too - even though I don't have any FeLV+ kitties anymore. So I just lurk for the most part these days. Re: [Felvtalk] Felvtalk] testing the list and question about prednisone
Tonya, your hyper t list is right. Prednisolone is preferred for cats. Here is a link for with info. http://www.marvistavet.com/html/prednisone.html Prednisone is activated by the patient's liver into Prednisolone Since cats have to convert the prednisone into prednisolone you are better off starting out with prednisolone. What can I say about our Juno? Well she came to Sids sanctuary along with her two boys Jupiter and Pluto the fall of 2005 just before I started volunteering there.I never had the pleasure of meeting Jupiter but I adored our Juno (Juny butts). And just love my Pluto( Pooty Poots)he is one of my many boyfriends there. :) Juno will be greatly missed.I will always look at her favorite spot and think of her .
