I never know how to reply to these things either, but i am going to reply
to both of the mail subjects at once right here.

I have been doing rescue for over 10 years, and in that time i have learned
to do much of the immediate run of the mill vetting myself. I have had my
felv+ cat for almost 5 years now, so i have learned quite a bit about that
as well, and it helps that's vet's office manager is on my board of
directors. One thing i have learned is i alwaysvgetvhervto the vet as soon
as i can if i cannot get a response from what i start her on. Formost cats
i startvthem on clavamox,( or amoxi suspension) right away because
it is broad spectrum and also treats mycoplasma

I'm not sure if I am doing this posting properly or not, but here goes.

Moe is my felv+ heart kitty. A few days ago I noticed he was sneezing,
and of course my vet is on vacation. Started him on Amoxi-tabs (1 tablet,
twice daily). It has been 3 days and I think he is sneezing more and one
 eye has some discharge.

I do have some other antibiotics in the house (clavamox, doxy) and
wondered if one of them would be a better choice.

The vet is not due back for another 10 days

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Your post came through fine. Can you consult with another vet? I was
reluctant to give any medicine (or supplement) to my Ember without getting
a professional?s advice and approval. That said, I?m sure others here can
discuss what they?ve used in similar situations.

I hope Moe is less sneezy tomorrow.

I would definitely say go to another vet. We educate ourselves well, but we
aren't vets, we can't know everything.

That just mailed itself off. Lol. Cont... But my awesome Pawsome i have to
give orbax to, because she had a bad reaction. Luckily, it wasn't an awful
reaction and next day vet worked fine. So, if you were to start on
something you picked a good drug. Lol. Anyway, i am lucky i live in an area
with many vets around.

As gor the LTCI, i am going to do the same thing. You will need a vet to
consign you, though, and order your medication, as well as do periodic
blood tests. That's the ticket. Lol. I have a friend in la who is already
doing this and that's where i got the idea.

I have a cat with felv I have had her now for about 2 months, she is doing
really good. After some argueing with the vet he finally agreed to put her on
Interferon. They did both the Elisa and the IFA 2 mos ago and both were
positive. I took her back today after the 60 days and the Elisa test came back
positive again, is there any holistic treatments that any of you know about
that would help me? Has anyone ever known a cat to get rid of the virus after
the IFA test is positive too? Any information would be appreciated (she is also
not showing any symptoms) Thank YOu

Re: [Felvtalk] Felvtalk Digest, Vol 6, Issue 12

2008-12-13 Thread Cougar Clan
I took Dixie to a holistic vet who did wonders for her quality of
life. She lived 3 wonderful years and had everything If you have
access to one, I would urge you to check it out. (Betty Boswell put
her on several supplements that were great. Dr. Boswell was her first
stop after the test results. She is doing well-kitten work with the
two little boys Dixie sent after she left this earth). If not, I can
give you phone numbers for two I know. They do phone consultations if
you aren't in the area or may be able to send you to someone. Dixie
got a lot of Vitamin C in ground up veggies I mixed with her (no
grain) high quality food. She got a lot of protein too. She was on
interferon too. Make very sure and pay attention to her teeth and
mouth. The Royal Princess Kitty Katt (not FeLV+ but died of cancer)
started teaching me to enjoy each minute with these lovely little
friends and not dwell on the future. Dixie furthered the lesson,
emphasizing the fact that we all die from something. The goal is to
enjoy the time you have and to teach/love/help others. She certainly
fulfilled her mission.

Please do not dwell on what may happen. Enjoy this little love and
give her everything you can. And learn from her. She found you for a
reason.

2008-12-13 Thread Karen Griffith
Marci,

I have had very good luck holistically with my FeLV kitties by using
Transfer Factor Plus. It is an immune booster and is very effective. A
good diet is also of great importance. If you want more information on
Transfer Factor, here is a link to an informational site.
www.powerbod.com/2/karengriffith

There is a link to the veterinary page on the right hand side list of page
links.

I use the human form called Transfer Factor Plus-Tri Factor formula. If you
decide to try it, I find it easier to call the toll free number and talk to
a human. The company's number is on the site.

In answer to your question, I have had kitties test negative after quite a
long period of time post initial testing.

If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call at 740-992-5782.

Karen Griffith
