[Fink-beginners] I am still getting stuck when trying to install a fink-type MOZILLA
I am still getting stuck when trying to install a fink-type MOZILLA: I think POPT is the culprit, but I do not know how to overcome the problem. Any suggestions? So sorry that I never described the situation completely: I do my fink install XXX (e.g.mozilla or popt), then the systems asks several questions and I answer YES then it stops dead. At first, I killed the whole system, but then I noticed that many Control+C and a lot of time can recover the terminal. For me this is unusual: the very same routines (mozilla and popt) installed without any hiccup on my iMacG5 before, only the TiBookG4 - after wiping the disk and a complete re-installation - is giving this trouble that I had never seen before. Best greetings Heinz Can you try to capture this behavior? It may be easier to do this: 1) Start a 'screen' session by running $ screen 2) Hit Control-A follwed by Shift-H (caps lock off) This will capture your output into a file 3) Do the fink install popt or fink install mozilla. Then if you lock up and have to reboot the output is logged. Otherwise you can kill it with Control-A followed by Shift-H again. -- Alexander K.
