This is the problem:
% /sw/bin/xfig
Error: Can't open display: /tmp/launch-bCPkn5/org.x:0
Xfig does not launch! What to do??
The previous problem was solved by making sure that I have:
% echo $XAPPLRESDIR
/sw/etc/app-defaults/
Mac OS X version 10.7.5.

You might try quitting X11 if it's currently running. That usually has
worked for me when I've had similar problems.
If that fails maybe try logging out and back in again.

Subversion Kills Productivity. Get off Subversion Make the Move to Perforce.
With Perforce, you get hassle-free workflows. Merge that actually works.
Faster operations. Version large binaries. Built-in WAN optimization and the
freedom to use Git, Perforce or both. Make the move to Perforce.
