So this library was compiled on (and optimised for) a G5, and it fails when you try to run it on a G4 or earlier. Try if rebuilding gmp-shlibs solves your problem. This looks like a problem with the gmp-shlibs package or perhaps a libtool bug. From the gmp build log I see that it uses the compile flag -force_cpusubtype_ALL when it compiles the *.o objects, but it forgets this flag when it links the dylibs. The flag is there on the libtool command line, but not on the actual linker line; libtool drops it. Srictly speaking, gmp would need to come in cpusubtype flavors. Even if the -force_cpusubtype_ALL were used throughout, the resulting binaries are not the same when compiled on G4 or on G5, because it uses also the -mcpu=7450 or -mcpu=970 flags, depending on the build machine. -- Martin - Take Surveys. I thought that I had been using the 10.4 tree for some time. However, when I typed fink --version as per the note of 2006-07-24 I got Distribution version: 0.8.0.rsync. I then tried using the upgrade script, but it said that I was already using the 10.4 tree so I exited without running it. My sw/fink folder has both the 10.4 and the 10.4-transitional trees. I generally use Fink Commander, and the table says that I have 5708 packages displayed and 361 installed. So...am I using the 10.4 tree or not? If not, should I try to run the upgrade script? I am reluctant to blow away my existing fink installation since all the installed packages are working fine and I takes a very long time to recompile them all. JJ Kolata - Take Surveys. Earn Cash. Dave, in case Andrew doesn't have this information about his ante-rebuilding version any more, here is what I can see from several gmp-shlibs debs lying around here: In version 4.1.4 which is also in the bindist, the library is built with cpusubtype=ALL, because the only relevant linker flag is -mpowerpc (which, if I read my logfile correctly, gets dropped by libtool). So no problem with this one. In version 4.2 and 4.2.1, the library is built with cpusubtype=ppc970 on a G5, because the relevant linker flags are -mpowerpc -force_cpusubtype_ALL -mcpu=970, and the -force... gets dropped, but the -m... flags make it onto the real linker line. These must probably have been built with different libtool versions, because the -mpowerpc is transmitted to the real linker line in one version and not in the other one. -- Martin - Take Surveys. [Fink-users] Problems installing soqt21-dev
Hi, I'm trying to install soqt21-dev. Everything seems to go fine until right near the end. It does a install sanity check which results in bogus. It then prints the following text about how to solve the problem. I have already done a fink selfupdate and as you can see below I have reordered my PATH as suggested. But I still get the same result. Any ideas? Thanks, Phil checking install sanity... bogus The configure script picked out Qt's install program when trying to find the system-wide install program. This probably happened because you have QTDIR/bin too early in the path. During installation, you would run into serious problems because of this. Re: [Fink-users] Problems installing soqt21-dev
Hmmm... I just did a rebuild so soqt on my 10.4.7 laptop using fink 10.4 and was not able to reproduce and trouble. I do see that I have a newer version of qt3 installed compared to what you have. I know it takes a long time, but it might be worth doing a self update and then building the latest qt to see if there is something up with older Qt versions. The other thing is to make sure you do NOT have DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH set. fink rebuild soqt21 ... checking for moc... /sw/bin/moc checking version of Qt library... 336 checking for Qt library devkit... -I/sw/include -lqt-mt checking whether the QGL widget is part of main Qt library... yes checking whether Qt::Keypad is defined... true checking whether QWidget::showFullScreen() is available... true checking whether operator==(QGLFormat,QGLFormat) is available... -kurt I'm sorry, here's a bit more to go on. ... mode... true checking whether the X11 miscellaneous utilities library is available... yes checking for moc... /sw/bin/moc checking version of Qt library... 334 checking for Qt library devkit... -I/sw/include -lqt-mt checking install sanity... bogus The configure script picked out Qt's install program when trying to find the system-wide install program.
