Re: [Fink-users] aquaterm compile failed
Aha. This makes perfect sense. My antiquated PPC laptop is somewhat low on disk space, so I used Monolingual to strip the Intel stuff (and many languages) from the software. Yes, Aquaterm seems to have compiled fine. GCC is now compiling. I don't know when the nearly 300 packages that are to be installed will get done. I need a new computer. 867 MHz PPC has some serious drawbacks these days. Thank you very much for your help. No, it doesn't. What this means is that you cannot build universal binaries with it, only powerpc ones (as we have seen already on the occasion of your failed aquaterm build). Re: [Fink-users] Failed installing ocaml-findlib-1.1.2-1
Ah, now it makes sense. Maybe one of the developers had a bad experience with /opt as a child. Anyway, I managed to build and install the package by adding the -sitelib option to the configure command in fink's info file: CompileScript: ./configure -mandir %p/share/man -sitelib %p/lib/ocaml/site-lib make all opt This probably isn't desirable for all installations, but it certainly fixed things in my case. opt/lib/ocaml is now a directory in the .deb file, and my MacBook is now happily continuing with its long list of packages to update. The directory is created 2 lines earlier, in my case by the line mkdir -p /sw/src/fink.build/root-ocaml-findlib-1.1.2-1/sw/lib/ocaml/site-lib/findlib which in your case looks as follows mkdir -p /opt/src/fink.build/root-ocaml-findlib-1.1.2-1/opt/lib/site-lib/findlib The reason for this difference is visible here: The directory of site-specific packages will be site-lib: /sw/lib/ocaml/site-lib (my log) The directory of site-specific packages will be site-lib: /opt/lib/site-lib (your log) and the cause for this difference can be found in the configure script in the code where site-lib is defined. Re: [Fink-users] circular dependency on update-all
i am getting very similar problems with update-all but i am not sure what package is causing the problem. i am a bit ignorant of what goes on under the fink hood, but it seems like some package has been submitted with a whole bunch of irrelevant dependencies. i update weekly and rarely add new packages, but this week i was confronted with a request to add over a 100 new packages via dependencies. first openssl097 caused trouble. when i ironed that out the circular dependencies problem cropped up halfway through update-all. i wish i could elaborate but i've now lost the output... matt. Since I use X11, I'm going to try the older binary install of gnuplot to see if that works. Thanks. -H The issue isn't directly with gnuplot. most likely it's indirect via graphviz via swig. That's worked for some folks. If you want to try this, to downgrade graphviz one can use sudo apt-get install graphviz=1.16-1013 on 10.5, or change the revision to 1012 for 10.4. - This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100url=/ ___ Fink-users mailing list Fink-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users

[Fink-users] new install of wine fails
Wine suffered from the circular dependency earlier. Now I'm at a loss to determine what to do next. fink install wine [...] configure: error: X development files not found.
