[Fink-users] tetex on 10.8/x86_64

2012-11-29 Thread Jean-Francois Donati
hi list,
what is the situation regarding tetex, and its porting to 10.8? is it likely
to happen soon?
it looks as if some latex packages have been ported already, like texlive,
while some others have not (among which tetex).
since i've been using tetex up to 10.6 and am now in the process of upgrading
to 10.8,
i have to find a solution for doing all the usual latex processing - hence my
question.
or is it discontinued, in which case, which package is the closest replacement?

thanks

I believe that teTeX has been dead for a long time.

or is it discontinued, in which case, which package is the closest
  replacement?

I have been using TeXLive on all my machines (Mac OS and Linux) for a
long time with no issues whatsoever.

Cheers,
Stefan

Right. The answer to when we're going to bring tetex over to 10.7/10.8
is never. If you have any packages installed that don't accept
texlive as a TeX provider, please let us know and we'll see if they can
be updated.

One other thing to note is that we do not support an upgrade in place
from 10.6 to 10.8. If you were planning to do this, I encourage you to
consult

https://github.com/fink/fink/blob/master/INSTALL

which has instructions on how to save a list of your installed packages.

texlive has replaced telex. It is a complete TeX package, with all of the
functionality of telex and more.
