Hello, Alex! Wednesday, November 30, 2011, 12:44:50 PM, you wrote: AP Who knows which evil is lesser... Personally, I'd placed All files text at that green button, without showing the latest package. But, as I understand, this can't be done. -- Dmitry Kuzmenko, www.ibase.ru, (495) 953-13-34 -- All the data continuously generated in your IT infrastructure contains a definitive record of customers, application performance, security threats, fraudulent activity, and more. And those who care about performance are unlikely to choose some default download suggestion without analyzing the alternatives. For example, when I open https://sourceforge.net/projects/firebird/ I see huge green button recommending me to download .Net driver. What is funny - I instead of .Net driver see 'big green button' with text Download FirebirdSS-2.5.0.26074-0.i686.rpm. Probably SF detected that it's linux on client, therefore suggestion to get rpm... But anyway: 1. Why 2.5.0? (not .1) 2. I use gentoo, and RPMs are not supported :-) Under this button is link Browse All Files, where there are really all files, but I can be confused, maybe these all files are related to .Net ? Also, when I open https://sourceforge.net/projects/firebird/files/ I again see at the top message Looking for the latest version? Download NETProvider-2.6.5.msi (620.0kB) What is that, really? I have nothing against .net driver, but for me it's not clear, why, instead, sf not recommending me to download latest ODBC driver, Jaybird driver, or even latest Firebird distributive. If you remember, earlier that .Net driver was named at SF as Firebird client, and this advertisement was more confusing for the people who came to the FB downloads first time. Now it's less confusing, but, maybe, trying to say that all of these is about .Net :-) I fully agree that (if it's possible at SF) it will be better to tune 'big green button' to point to latest server release for current client's platform, or at least send to list of all files in latest firebird release. PS. Dmitry, I've CCd this to admins list too. -- All the data continuously generated in your IT infrastructure contains a definitive record of customers, application performance, security threats, fraudulent activity, and more. This option was left empty for the server binaries but set for the .NET provider packages. I have it fixed now for Windows (2.5.1 installer is suggested) and Linux (2.5.1 CS RPM is suggested). Other platforms will follow. Please test it and suggest any corrections.
