[Flexradio] AGC-T Filters
Hi Folks, Well... aren't I the last person in the flexshpere to discover that dropping filter to 100hz and lowering AGC-T to 95 or below does wonders to dig out weak CW sigs. That should be in the manual! Cheers Dave. ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/
[Flexradio] VOX on VAC
VOX has not worked while using VAC for several versions. It was broken some time ago. This has been reported a number of times by many people, especially those who use remote control a lot as VOX is the best way to work SSB remote. OpenSDR still has VOX working on VAC. It works fine on my ANAN-10. [Flexradio] Looking for alternative SDR software for Flex 3000
I see in the youtube demo how the SmartSDR for 6700 keeps the spectrum fixed, and allows me to drag the receiver throughout the spectrum. I currently cannot do that with PSDR. What are my alternatives, if any? Re: [Flexradio] Looking for alternative SDR software for Flex 3000
Buying a 6700 that will run SmartSDR should get you that feature. Otherwise, no PSDR doesn't work that way. Re: [Flexradio] Looking for alternative SDR software for Flex 3000
Mark, You can do that to a limited extent (within the spectrum already showing on the screen) in PSDR, but it's almost a six of one half dozen of another kind of thing. It's different, and may only be marginally better or worse depending on your preferences. Both are good. Re: [Flexradio] Transmit Profile Index
Larry, As Ray indicated, this can be done manually, but you have to pay very close attention as you do it. When I manually edit a database, I use the export function in PowerSDR to save 2 copies to the desktop and simply rename one copy to edited.xml so that I know it's the one I have tinkered with. When you've done that, close PowerSDR down and open up edited.xml in Notepad. Use the Find function in Notepad to locate the name of the particular TX profile you want to move. Then scroll up and down and study all the entries for that profile. (There are lots of them!) Examine the point where the TX profile you want to relocate begins and where it ends in the database. Then, paying very close attention to the beginning and end points, select the whole TX profile you wish to move and do a cut. This will remove that TX profile from the database and lift it into your system clipboard. Scroll through the database and find where you want to insert the TX profile that you wish to move. Look closely at where the TX profile above ends, and where the TX profile below it begins, place your cursor at that point, and then do a paste. This will insert your relocated TX profile into its new position. Save the edited.xml file, exit Notepad, and then open up PowerSDR and import the edited.xml database back into PowerSDR. If you did everything correctly, it will work fine and your TX profiles will be in the order you desired. If you messed up, PowerSDR will almost certainly choke on it, so simply import the other clean database you saved to your desktop and you will be fine once again. If you want to take another shot at it, delete the mutated edited.xml database and export another copy to play with and try again. This kind of stuff isn't for the faint of heart but once you get the hang of it, the task isn't really that bad. Good luck! There was an article in a recent QST about using Chrome Remote Desktop app as a method for remote operation. I tried it and it works extremely well using both a home wi-fi connection and an internet connection using wireless phone hotspot. I am a long time user of Chrome browser, so I have that running on all of my computers. I downloaded the app from the Chrome store (free) and installed it on three computers. First is the MacMini running Windows 8 Pro to drive the Flex 3000. (Bootcamp). Second was a 17 HP Envy also running Win 8 Pro, and third was a MacBook Air running latest OS X. The MacMini was set as the target machine. I now regularly work the Flex remotely from my living room, one flight up from the radio/computer room. I do run only digital modes due to poor hearing. I use HRD's DM-780 and the Logbook (version 6). So far I have done about a 100 QSOs using this approach. Most with the HP but probably a quarter of them with the MacBook Air running OS X. Since Chrome runs on all major OSs, the host PC doesn't care what the remote OS is, it just connects between the two systems. I have also made connections using a wireless hotspot device. In that instance I did encounter some slow down since the connection speed was not at 4G or LTE levels, but it worked. I have also run the Flex radios from a Surface Pro tablet. The surface has 4GB ram and runs Win 8 Pro x64. The major weakness is screen size and ram. The size of type faces is quite small-not bad if only a foot from eyes but more difficult if sitting on table so you can use a keyboard. Their is some occasional very short freezing as RAM gets maxed out (running SDR, DM-780 and Logbook). But it works. I have moved to the MacBook Air as my primary field PC because the 13 screen is much easier to read. When running the Flex 1500 directly I boot to Win 8 Pro x64 using BootCamp. Once again I am only doing digital through this system. However, I have a friend with a MacBook Air and a 1500 who does CW and some phone. 73 de K7BAW Barry Winters barryk7...@gmail.com ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/ ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List
