[Flexradio] Calibrate 5000 S Meter

2015-07-10 Thread Harry Hahn via FlexRadio
It appears that my 5000 S Meter is at least 10 db shy of where it needs to be.
This is based on comparison to my Icom 9800. I hear everything well and pre amp
works fine. Is there a process to recalibrate the S Meter???

[Flexradio] Large MOX button

2014-02-17 Thread Harry Hahn
I operate remote better than 50 percent of the time. Since VOX on VAC no longer
works on later versions of SDR, is there a way to make a LARGE MOX button so I
can easily click on it from an IPhone or IPad?

Thanks,

 Hi Rich,
I have gotten TeamViewer 7 VoIP audio working after many try's and the
audio is really quite good on HF. You have to turn it on at both ends which
is NO problem because I use TeamViewer for the remote access control anyway
and I just have to click the audio connect button on the Radio side as well
 as the (Local) remote side.

I need to do a write up on it so I don't forget how to do it and when I get
some time of course, I can pass it around if anyone else is interested.

The Audio for me is MUCH better then Skype which I have used for several
years and doesn't have all the extra crap.

If you turn down the Refresh Rates under the Setup, Display tab it will help
 with bandwidth.

few months ago I was using K9DUR's VoiceKeyer program during the Ohio QSO

eeded a rest and I also was getting tired of having to chase down the
roaming foot switch under my desk. So I decided to enable VOX and at
irst things seemed to be working properly, However, after a few
ransmissions I noticed my radio was keying up no longer putting out RF. So
disabled VAC and things started working again (except for the voicekeyer
hich needs VAC). After sometime I enabled VAC again and after a few
ransmissions using VOX the problem reappeared. This time I disabled VOX
nd went back to the foot switch and things were back to normal. So based
n my experience it seems that you cannot use VOX when you have VAC
nabled. So my question is this a bug or by design in PowerSDR?

Re: [Flexradio] headsets

2009-06-20 Thread Harry Hahn
I use two different headsets. If you want to go wireless, Cobra makes one for
cell phones with a single muff and a NC boom mike. It is Bluetooth, so you use
VAC on your PC with the Bluetooth on your PC. If your PC doesn't have
Bluetooth, but a USB Bluetooth phob.

The other one I use is the Microsoft USB Lite chat. Also use VAC to make your
virtual connection. Great audio and it has a lighted mute button on the cord
that helps to place you in receive only when using VOX. Use both directly on PC
and when running internet remote

Ever since SVN 2797's AGC changes the RX AGC action has been poor in my
SDR-1000 in the AM mode. The receiver AGC has a limiting action while
listening to strong AM signals, sounding much like the station is using an ALC
type limiter when they are not. Plus the volume level is noticeably louder. I
am experiencing the same issue with the latest official release , 1.18.0.
Version 1.16.2 and SVN 2796 and earlier are just fine. I have submitted bug
reports concerning this. Now with SVN 3159 when I start Power SDR in AM mode,
the RX sounds like it's in DSB until I select a different bandwidth, then it
returns to the normal AM mode.
Does anyone else experience this with the SDR-1000? Maybe these software
changes have improved the 5000 and the 3000 but they are not working very well
with the 1000.

[Flexradio] SGC-500

2008-08-03 Thread Harry Hahn
I use an SGC 500 as one of my amps, driven by the 5000. With 30 watts in you
should have full output. Your problem when you trip the curent protection is
actually low voltage. You have to read peak voltage across the power in
terminals of the amp. I placed a 1 ferad capacitor that has a digital colt
meter on it across the SGC power input terminals. This got rid of the problem
and gives you a cool voltage monitor. I use a 30 amp switching supply and 800
amp battery as a power source. The problem is the 9 feet of cable to the amp
and the large cap removes that issue. The actual PEP output I have is 660 watts
on almost all bands.

[Flexradio] Display size and frequency bug

2008-06-17 Thread Harry Hahn
I used the newly released software last night for the first time. When
resizing the display, if you minimize application and then reopen it, the
display size is smaller.

Also, when changing frequency from 160 meters to another band and back, the
frequency always returns to a default frequency.

When is k6jca going to get us a new revision compatable with new firmware?
J6jca display is the best.
