Re: [Flexradio] CW jack input on the Flex 5000
No, I'm not cheating. I do have a Begali straight key but I got a K1EL for use with the 600 meter experiment when I was preparing to set up a beacon. Naturally the K1EL wouldn't key either 3000 or 5000 without a mod but that may vary with age of the Flex radio. Still, simple examination of the keyer circuits and the radio isn't too difficult. I would think that any keyer could be compatible. But you have to remember that some knowledge and work might be needed. 73 Lee K9WRU - Original Message - From: Steve Sterling f...@sgsterling.com To: flexradio@flex-radio.biz Sent: Sunday, March 30, 2014 11:19 PM Subject: Re: [Flexradio] CW jack input on the Flex 5000 I think they are referring to an external KEY (ex. Re: [Flexradio] CW jack input on the Flex 5000
Lee What issues are you having with keying the 3k or 5k with K1EL keyer? There is a setting in PSDR that allows you to use a 2-connector plug so you you don't have to wire up a3-connector plug. [Flexradio] CW jack input on the Flex 5000
Dave If you plug a two pin connector - tip and sleeve - into the cw input this will cause the ring to short out. Originally this was a problem, however, FRS added a feature in PSDR to allow the 2-wire cable which would resolve the issue of shorting out the ring. Go to Setup/DSP/Keyer and you will see an option for 2-wire connector. This will allow you to use an external keyer with only tip and sleeve. See the attachment for the box to check.
