Pronouncing ATIS (was Re: [Flightgear-devel] Re: ATC voices (no AI at EGPD))

In North America, we pronounce the first syllable to rhyme with day,

heard the word ATIS spoken on an ATIS. It usually starts like this:

Ottawa International Airport, information charlie, conditions at one
four zero zero zulu ...

and ends

You need to select this channel on one your your COMM radios.

No. But you can start with --prop:/sim/user/callsign=Justin, if you want

Yes, that's on my TODO. Just need to learn a bit more about Festival,
and wait for the display question to settle. Then I'd like to add a
library in the Festival space that is transferred initially, and
some simple markup to the messages that is filtered out by the display
and translated for Festival. For example: foo {hint} bar. All {}
groups would then be removed before the user reads/hears the message.

[Flightgear-devel] OpenGC Integration

2006-02-24 Thread JEFFREY BOZARTH

Good afternoon everyone, my name is Jeff and I'm new to the list, but not new to flying or simulation. I am the flight simulator engineer for the 757/767 fleet at a major airline. I'm looking into incorporating FlightGear/OpenGC into some of our low level testing and, hopefully, giving back to the open source community with whatever I might be able to contribute.
My first question goes like this: I have read that OpenGC and FlightGear can be integrated across a network, is there documentation on this? Specifically, is there documentation on the protocol used between them? Also, does anyone know if the OpenGC project is still active? I noticed that the last update was over a year ago, and I've tried to grab the source but it seems that the CVS access is not liking the information listed on the website.
Thanks for any info, looking forward to talking with you guys.
Jeff

Does the aircraft affect what the tower atc says or allows you to say ?

No, only position and AI state (departing, unknown, arriving etc).

I have took off from Dundee flown to dyce and im on com0 118.10 i hear them
talking but pressing ' i still get no transmission available.

Using latest cvs version and AI on level 1 now.

 Try this

 fgfs --fg-root=/opt/flightgear/share/FlightGear
 --fg-scenery=/opt/flightgear/share/FlightGear/Scenery --airport-id=EGPD
^^

If you take off from EGPD, you won't have any available transmissions since all
the current transmissions are to do with approach and landing. You will need
to leave EGPD airspace (at *least* 6 miles, not just the 2 mile ATZ) and
return. Try flying from Insch (EG56, the nearest airport to Dyce in FG AFAICT)
and contacting EGPD on the way. You should get transmissions available then
(It worked when I tested it last night).

EG56 is a grass strip BTW, so maybe try the Cessna rather than the 737 ;-)

Cheers - Dave
