I asked a friend which run an asterisk server. His answer:

There is no debian etch asterisk 1.4 package, your friend just need to
backport a sid package (fetch the sid source package, and recompile it

Hi,

it seems that I will be away from my keyboard for the next weeks. I hope

[Flightgear-devel] repeatable keys

2007-12-13 Thread Cédric Lucantis
Hi,

I'd like to know if the 'repeatable' flag in the key bindings is
supposed to work ? It doesn't on my debian sid with the latest cvs
fgfs : keys are always repeated even when the flag is false... It might
sound trivial but I think it's important for people flying with a
keyboard (I use the mouse myself but hoften use the keyboard too for
slight adjustments). With really non-repeatable keys, we could have
smooth move of the controls by starting a nasal increment loop on a key
press and stopping it on key up rather than calling an increment func
for each key press event (hope I'm clear enough ;) We can actually do
it, but the loop will be continually stopped and restarted, making it
inefficient, redundant and irregular. One of those little annoying
things remainding you that you are flying a computer and not a real
plane...

I had a look at the sources and it seems to be correctly implemented so
I guess this comes from some underlying lib (glut?) which makes no
difference between a key press and a key repeat. Then I wrote a dirty
hack which fix this by holding key-release events for a short time (1ms
seems to be fine) and discarding them if a corresponding key-press is
received during that period. Seems to work fine : the binding is called
for each repeat if the key is 'repeatable' and only once otherwise, and
any 'mod-up' binding is always called once, when the key is really
released. There's a risk of loosing some events if you release and
re-press a key very quickly, but it doesn't happen in practice and
wouldn't be noticable anyway.

So maybe there are better solutions like disabling key repeat at a lower
level and implementing it ourself ? It would be much harder but would
provide some nice features, like letting the user specify a different
repeat delay for each key binding and thus define keys with a regular
repeat rate. Maybe we could also create a mod-down binding, so this
one would only be called when the key is pressed, the default one for
each press/repeat and the mod-up when the key is released.

Well, all this to say I'd like to do something about that, so any
opinions or suggestions are welcome... and sorry if all this doesn't
make sense, this is my first try with FG ;)

PS: please tell me if you're interested by the hack, as it will need
some optimization and cosmetics first...

thanks,

Yes, but only with SDL. It does (AFAIK) not yet work with osgViewer,

Yes, use SDL. I don't think we want to hack around glut, which

I hope this won't stop non-debian users again?

By the way I notice you keep a compiled fgcom in svn of fgcom, however that
cause problems for 64-bit users. When we run make the svn one gets overwritten
(of course). But when the fgcom executable in svn is updated svn will of course
generate a collision. I find it rather pointless to keep a binary in the svn and
it is irritating having to clean up the conflicts all the time. If you added it
by mistake I'd suggest svn help propset: svn:ignore - A newline separated
list of file patterns to ignore.

[Flightgear-devel] Temperature bug in pre2

2007-12-13 Thread Hans Fugal
This bug has been around for awhile, but as it seems to have fallen
through the cracks:

I just started up flightgear and looked at the METAR in the weather
menu. M04/M11 was the temperature. That means -4°C and a dewpoint of
-11°C. But when I went into the weather conditions dialog, and looked
at the temperature on the ground boundary layer, it says the
temperature is 15°C with a dewpoint of 5°C. If only! The same thing
was happening during the summer, when I was seeing temperatures of
40°C+ on the temp indicator of one of the planes, which is what caught
my attention.

This isn't just a cosmetic bug or one limited to people seeking high
realism. It severely impacts the flyability at high-altitude airports
in the summer.

Further away (37*48 56.5N, -122*18 37.8W is what HUD said for ufo, should the

Over all this new scenery is much nicer than before though. Some objects now out

   There are only two possibilities:

My understanding is that a full world-wide scenery rebuild is taking place
right now, courtesy of the Custom Scenery Project. The purpose of the rebuild
is mainly to incorporate the latest apt.dat modifications and the latest
commits to the object database. Resolution of the scenery should be
approximately the same as the current scenery, but using the latest
improvements to terragear, recently made by Ralf Gerlich.

scenery (such as the lowest ebb etc ellipsoid)?

_not_ part of the scenery?

..I know modelling sea level rise will require new coast line and
sub sea scenery tiles and modelling sea water on top of that again,
but the right answer above means the difference between an all new
scenery and just the sea bits and I like to see FlightGear-1.0 model
sea level rise for a few strategic political and financial reasons
that would help facilitate funding FG. ;o)

[Flightgear-devel] Bleriot - Sopwith Camel?

2007-12-13 Thread Durk Talsma
Gentlemen,

In light of some recently uncovered problems related to the bleriot, how about
making a last minute decision to replace it with the sopwith camel? The
bleriot seemed to be a nice touch, as it was the oldest aircraft next to the
WrightFlyer. The sopwith, while being slightly newer and a few MBs larger
than the bleriot, seems to be a lot more mature.

I just checked the aircraft, and can confirm that it doesn't segfault by
switching on aircraft shadows.

Cheers,
Durk

HI

trying to run the last fgcom update I'd got the following error:

Reading list of airports...error during reading airports!

the issue is with positions.txt, trying an old one worked perfectly.
when the before the last field contain more than 24 char, reading the
file fails.
after correction, it's concern all the ACTIVATE LIGHTS ONLY MULTICOM
and other terminating with MULTICOM, and a very long finishing by UNICOM
(i don't remenber)

I'm not a programmer so I can't tell why, but i add my positions.txt
just to make it working for others having the same problem.

here's my positions.txt working (sorry i don't know how to deal with diff)

 Hi Durk,

I'd be very happy to see the Camel getting some exposure, but
 my only worry is
that it was developed for OSG... it doesn't use any
 particularly special
OSG-only effects, but last time I looked some of the control
 animations were
 broken in PLIB.

They work perfectly in OSG, and of course we could probably
 rewrite them for
plib, but I don't think I'll have time in the next day or two
 :-( Unless
 Vivian can?

Needs a bit of work to make the animations right. Hmm - don't know what's
required right now - but I could perhaps do it tomorrow sometime.

Lot's and lots of vertices, and no easier to fly than the original!

If Durk can give us a little time?

Vivian

I've created a workaround (for my model) by setting all nav and adf
