I know it's normal on single-prop aircraft, but this is happening in the
 A-10, T-38, etc.

Check that your joystick is aligned properly. Torque and P-factor, etc.
will
roll/yaw to the left - not the right. It sounds like your joystick is
messed

up. I don't see these.

My joystick is perfectly aligned. No crosswind either.

Ron Waite:

 My joystick is perfectly aligned.

How did you check this when people asked? For instance, did you
try pulling the joystick entirely and taking off by keyboard,
and then experienced exactly the same problem with all the same
aircraft?

The reason people are gravitating towards this reply to you is because
the kind of problem you're reporting has infrequently been reported in
the past, and it's always been because of joystick issues.

Re: [Flightgear-users] Pulling to the Right

2005-12-20 Thread Georg Vollnhals

Hi Ron,
just one addition from my personal experience:

With the old FG version 0.9.8 I had some trouble with suddenly rolling
a/c which I could not explain to myself until I noticed that though I am
using separate pedals (with own XML file) the rocker-switch of my
Saitek X45 joystick was also assigned to the ruder. I had *deleted* the
assignment out of the XML file (axis n=3) but *though* it was
recognized anyway.
This problem was solved with CVS versions and FG version 0.9.9 but until
then I had to carefully watch this unwished second assignment to be
centered (neutralized) so not to disturb the functions of my rudder-pedals.
BTW, compared to other sims rudder application causes a heavy roll
tendency, I don't know whether this is more realistic or less due to
lacking real-life experiences, I just accept it.

Regards
Georg EDDW

Why is this? Thanks.

Is it a propeller driven aircraft? If so, you are probably
experiencing prop-torque. The propeller will tend to yaw the aircraft
to the right. This tendency gets more severe with the RPM of the engine.

Actually, shouldn't the propeller yaw the aircraft to the left? I suspect Ron
may be having joystick calibrating issues.

Ampere

Depends if you are flying in England or not. :-) Seriously, you are
correct. You depress the right pedal to correct the yaw to the left.
Sorry, it's been a while since I last flown.

Re: [Flightgear-users] Pulling to the Right

2005-12-19 Thread Jeff McBride
If you turn on the HUD by pressing the 'h' key, you can see the
control positions. Then you can check to see if any of them (rudder is
probably whats steering you) are jumpy when you move the stick. I had
a logitech extreme 3D pro joystick with twist rudder control that
after a while went pretty bad. The rudder position would jump all over
the place whenever I moved the stick. It got progressively worse until
it was basically unflyable.

The rudder position, BTW, is the horizontal slider at the bottom of
the HUD display.
