FLUXLIST: Nothing and then some .......
Dear Fluxfriends, One of the reasons we advocate being familiar with the work of the original Fluxus artists is recognizing when new works are related to or similar to old ones. While this piece takes a new twist, it resembles an existing work by Ken Friedman that announces the appearance of an artist who does not show up. Secret Fluxus Alain Lefebvre How to do nothing: 1)Establish the time and the place of the thing or activity which you feel most compelled or necessary to do. (Example; Going to the bathroom.) 2)When the time comes for you to be in that place don't show up or go elsewhere. nbsp;(You will be doing nothing.) _ Stay in touch with absent friends - get MSN Messenger http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger
FLUXLIST: Fluxus and Sex
Dear Allen, Nam June Paik, Eric Andersen, Carolee Schneemann, Dick Higgins, and several other Fluxus artists created works about sex, as well as cycles of erotic poetry or images. Sincerely, Secret Fluxus From: allen bukoff [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 26, 2004 2:40 PM Subject: FLUXLIST: Fwd: Museum of Sex is proud to co-sponsor THE 2nd ANNUAL NEW YORK BURLESQUE FESTIVAL in the email today... Question: why does SEX/sensuality/eroticism and Fluxus seem to be in opposite corners (or is it just me)? Are/were historical Fluxus performances/objects/games/activities devoid of sexuality--even the ones that seemed to address gender or sexuality issues (or is that just a misreading on my part)? Don't get me wrong, I love Fluxus, I not saying here that it's missing anything. It's just that of all the things I love a lot, Fluxus seems to have the least sex or sexuality in its soul. Or am I missing something? Allen _ It's fast, it's easy and it's free. Get MSN Messenger today! http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger

-Further to the debate on NOTHING. I typed in NOTHING at Ask Jeeves and 37,050,000 links to nothings came up! For instance , it's possible to buy NOTHING on E-Bay and there is a NOTHING Records company, where I presume they have vinyl chock full of NOTHING! once made a collage based on a Ball Pen ad which read; Nothing rolls like a Ball--gave it to Jeffrey and Dan Green of the Butterflies of Love, they have since metamorphed into something else and are rumored to be in England--no google brought it up--anyone ever hear of these chappies? anyway--ever since I have absolutely loved nothing. - Original Message - From: michael leigh [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, May 01, 2004 11:36 AM Subject: Re: FLUXLIST: Nothing and then some ... -Further to the debate on NOTHING. Hey I searched through DOGPILE and found this drawing of nothing by a scientist! It's supposed to be the universe before the BIG BANG. Seems it was a squiggly line that went round in a sort of amorphous blob shape. Scientists are ALWAYS right so this is what NOTHING looks like. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is. Michael Yahoo! Title: Re: FLUXLIST: Nothing and then some ... I think this is all quite ZENzing if not FLUXUS and Im contemplating using that scientific drawing/diagram for a logo for something Zz. BUT, I also think that in the end this discourse about nothingness, or somethingness, or whatever, well maybe Douglas Adams probably had an (the?) answer which I struggle to recall . Was it 42 or is it now another number like 0 or 1 or a whole string of 0s 1s? Somethingness is just so hard to avoid, and as for nothingness, well it is equally difficult to embrace. Then again, when I didnt go to the meeting it was quite OK doing nothing rather than something instead. Quite silly really! Ray _from way out on the edge eMail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (when the servers up)
