I not only want to make the result of my work within the private branch public, I want to disclose the whole history of that work. There is no way to do this right now. Current implementation of private branches is more of a hack. A proper solution would allow push/pull of a specific branch. Which was proposed many times, but never fully implemented. Instead of a private branch, make a public branch in a private clone with autosync disabled. Then when you are ready, do a push. In addition to my last suggestion, to reduce the risk of accidental synchronization before the work on the branch is ready, you could unset remote-url in the clone. fossil remote-url off Then use fossil pull --once http://user@remote/fossil To keep your private clone in sync. You could also utilize the newly added fossil clone --once http://user@remote/fossil Once done you'll also need to specify the Fossil user since it will not be set. Then use fossil pull as before. [fossil-users] How to make a private branch public?
Hi, http://www.fossil-scm.org/xfer/doc/tip/www/private.wiki say, that [t]here is no way to convert a private branch into a public branch. While (a bit) digging around with a test fossil, I see, that there is a tag private, but it seems, private branches are not implemented with this as propagating tag with special meaning. From what I see within the sqlite database of my test fossil repository it seems, that the IDs of every change of a private branch is logged within the private Table of the sqlite database. If I simply delete all entries of the private Table, then a test clone of that modified fossil respository has in fact all branches. My test repository is a very simple one, only a few test commits. Is this way - delete from private with an sqlite tool on the repository database - really a working way without sideeffects, to make private branches public? I'm aware, that this somewhat rude manipulation of the db makes _all_ private branches public (if it is so simple). That would be enough for the moment for me. But more generally: what would be the correct SQL expression, to make just one private branch and its descendants public this way (again, if this way works at all). rolf ___ fossil-users mailing list fossil-users@lists.fossil-scm.org http://lists.fossil-scm.org:8080/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fossil-users

Perhaps you could merge the private branch into the non-private branch? It won't show up as a merge in the timeline, but all the code that was in the private branch will now be in the public branch. Someone might have a better suggestion.
