Along the same line... I see "fossil new" uses the default SQLite page size of
4K.
Though "fossil clone http://www.fossil-scm.org/ fossil.fossil" do reproduce
locally the 8K page size from its source.

What other technical settings of a cloned repository are implicitly preserved
to its clones?
(The journal_mode=WAL is not, and I understand why it is so).

Thanks!

Is the page size 8K, instead of SQLite current default of 4K which Fossil
preserves on a "fossil new" for instance, also a generally
preferred/recommended configuration for Fossil repositories, or an ad-hoc
setting for this specific repository?

WAL-mode is preferred.

If you visit https://www.fossil-scm.org/fossil/stat and look at the
end of the "Database Stats:" line, you'll see that the canonical
Fossil repo runs in WAL mode.

[fossil-users] pragma journal_mode=wal

2018-01-03 Thread Olivier Mascia
Dear,

Assuming a main repository only accessed through HTTP for clone, push, pull or
through its web interface... Would you see a reason for not switching it to WAL
mode?

Should it be avoided for a well-known reason in that restricted configuration?
