PDF Printing Issues in FrameMaker 11 - RESOLVED (Thank you Adobe)

I'm not sure if I said this or not before but thank you Adobe for fixing the 
printing errors. We were having problems creating PDFs of our manuals. The Save 
as PDF feature works and the print features work well for me now. I appreciate 
all the help and hard work that your staff provided to resolve the issue.

Thank you for passing this information along to me. I can't wait to learn more 
about it. However, I don't know what the difference is amongst the family of 
Finalyser products. Is there a sheet of some sort that compares these products? 
I looked around for one but couldn't find the information. The difference in 
pricing is quite stark and I don't want to purchase a Swiss army knife to cut 
and apple when a paring knife is enough.

Does anyone know of  a program that will allow me to move several files to 
another folder without breaking links to graphics in other folders? We've 
imported graphics by using the import by reference option instead of copying 
the graphics to the document. We've done this because copying the graphics into 
the document bloats it. Our manuals have been created by several writers over 
the years. I have hundreds of files to move but haven't done it yet because of 
this issue. I could open each book file and FrameMaker files and just archive 
them but again, there are hundreds of these things to move.

Any ideas are certainly appreciated.

Batch saving files in FrameMaker 11

Does anyone know of a way to save several files in FM 11 to a different FM 
version? Say, FM 10? I know that you can right click the files in a book and 
save them all at once. However, you can't do a Save As and pick your version. 
If there were a plugin that would be very helpful too.

Bruce Foster's FrameMaker Archive Program

Is there a new version of the FrameMaker archive program available? I remember 
that someone was working on it at one point. I just didn't know if it is

Installing the Archive Program in FrameMaker 11 (Formerly: Bruce Foster's FrameMaker Archive Program)

I found an answer to my  question so I thought I'd share.


The location for the archive script can be found at 
http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2011/07/create-a-book-packager-using-extendscript.html.

Install the Archive Program in FrameMaker 11


1.   Download and extract the script (Under Code Snippets, click the link 
script attached).


2.   In FrameMaker 11, run the script.



a.   Click File - Script - Run. A pop will appear.

b.  Go to the folder where you saved the script. Select Archive-v2.jsx and 
click OK.

View the Archive Program

Click File - Utilities. The archive program should be listed.

Well, the print function stopped working again for us today. My co-worker and I 
can't make PDFs. I'm at my wits end. This printing issue FM11 is seriously 
putting us behind when it comes output. I was contacted by Adobe as a result of 
Yves e-mail. If any of you are experiencing the same thing, then contact TCS 
Support tcs...@adobe.commailto:tcs...@adobe.com. I hope this gets resolved 
soon.

PDF Printing Issues in FrameMaker 11

We just downloaded FrameMaker 11. We are having problems saving documents as a 
PDF (whether it is our network or the desktop). We have 1 book file and then 12 
fm files.  We tried printing the book (which is what we usually do) and save it 
as a PDF (we did this in FM 8 because this process ensured that the bookmarks 
would work. FM 8 had problems generating working links if you tried to save the 
document as a PDF). We've tried just saving our book and files as a PDF but 
that has not worked either.

Has anyone else had this issue? We've tried working with Adobe but they didn't 
really provide much help.

I found an answer to my  question so I thought I'd share.

Conref Issue in FrameMaker 8

Hi! I am running into a conref issue. I am using FrameMaker 8 to create my 
documents. When I insert a conref the text is blue. I want to be able to make 
PDF documents. However, when I generate  a PDF of my document, the conref info 
is blue. I read in the FrameMaker help files that you can change this by 
changing the dita.template file. I don't even know how to do this. There are no 
instructions that I can find. I could generate PDFs and just set the print 
color to black. If I do this, my graphics will be black too. Quite a conundrum 
for me.

Has anyone else run into this? What did you do? I have set my conrefs to load 
when I open a file.

Any help is appreciated!

FrameMaker 8 and saving documents that include conrefs

Hi! I'm new to using structured FrameMaker and DITA. I have a question about 
conrefs.  When I include a conref into a document (let's say the document type 
is a topic), it shows up perfectly as it should. However, when I save the 
document and reopen it disappears. Is this normal ?

Any help is appreciated!
