Uuuups, I am sorry. I was thinking: all the information is in the PR

Yes it is r...@freebsd.org
Yes it is graphics/gimp-gmic-plugin
Yes, I did last hear from him on

I did not mail him directly. Our communication worked via that PR.
That works until 14 December 2015. After that I tried to ask him -
unhappily again via the PR.

Okay, I understand that and will remeber it the next time. Sorry. I
felt a little bit helpless. A am not a programmer, I cannot fix a port
by myself. I just like to use graphics/gimp-gmic-plugin

And this port has (different) issues in versions
1.5.x
1.6.0
1.6.8 (not in the port yet)

rm@ gave me a patch to try and to test 1.6.8 – to step over the issues
of 1.5.x and 1.6.0 - But it has other issues. Does completely not work
(a show stopper).

In the old versions 1.6.0 and 1.5.x some filters does not wort
(explained in the PR).

2016-02-24 Thread Heino Tiedemann
Hi,

I had an open PR since some weeks. It seems, the the maintainer is
gone. In the first time we had a living discussion about that
problem. Ha made a spacial patch, so I tested it – but: did not work.

From one moment the discussion died..

Is it an orphaned PR now?

KDE4 - kde4-runtime kdemultimedia-4 no longer needed?

2013-02-06 Thread Heino Tiedemann
Hi,

from UPDATING

20130203:
AFFECTS: users of KDE SC 4
  AUTHOR: k...@freebsd.org

KDE SC ports have been updated to 4.9.5. kdemultimedia4, kdenetwork4,
kde-runtime and kde-workspace ports have been split, they must be
deinstalled before running any port upgrade tool:

  # pkg_delete -f kdemultimedia-4\* kdenetwork-4\* \
kde-workspace-4\* kde-runtime-4\*

Now I am through with all.

Even a pkgdb -fu does not help:

run 'pkgdb -F' to fix, or specify -O to force.

 Hi, Heino,

This is a bug in portupgrade's pkgng integration: the whole 'pkgdb -Fu'
thing shouldn't be necessary with pkgng's built-in sqlite database.
Unfortunately the coding required to chop out the pkgdb related bits of
portupgrade and replace them with equivalents via 'pkg check' isn't
complete. I believe it needs some changes to 'pkg check' too, although
I have no details on that.

It's an annoying message, but inaccurate and you can just ignore it.

NO! portupgrade stops after thet message and does not upgrade
anything! How should I ignore that?

You can use 'pkg check' and 'pkg info' to verify that liberoffice has
the correct dependencies installed and that all those packages are
 correctly installed.

Yes - but libreoffice is not the fact that I am talking about.

like he has here https://github.com/pkgtools/pkgtools/issues/44

it is ANY stale dependency that stops portupgrade!

I'm sure those modifications cannot be pushed right now in the ports tree,
there are quite a few version bump that would impact other ports, but I'd
 like to share them anyway.

I've attached a tarball of my files, here are the list of modified ports:

I hope it can help people wanting to upgrade to the lastest version of

I like to give a try but I am not familliar with ports (I never dd). Maybe

Is here any maintainer who can tell - is there a gimp 2.8 at the and of

There is a patch from Koop Mast, that updates gimp to 2.8 (and
gegl/babl too). But new gimp also requires more fresh atk and all of
this needs testing. I can't recall the link for kwm's patch, and will
not put one that I have somewhere, because there is possibility that
there is updated version of it. Koop, can you please post that patch
link here so the interested people can check it on their own?

Just a shot in the dark for lang/gcc46, I'd say it's because Firefox
dynamically links to a newer version of libgcc that is only available
 when it is installed.

Its runtime dependency on archivers/zip can be explained by the fact
that Firefox now packs its hundreds of GUI files (chrome) into a giant
zip file (named omni.ja), for which it requires a zip library to read.

You're welcome to tweak the Makefile to remove the runtime dependency
and test it to see how badly it breaks; I've done the same to keep Perl
and Python off my embedded system images when installing glib et alia.
Glib only requires the languages for scripts used when compiling
software, which is unlikely to occur on an embedded system.

I just managed to rebuild libreoffice on 9.0-amd64 in a clean and sane
 building
environnement (poudriere). it also runs as expected.

For your particular case can I imagine you are building on current?

No!

 some
with clang or based gcc? (in particular libraries?)

no gcc from ports here. Only base GCC

I'd love to better understand how gobject-introspection does its
thing, but this is NOT a missing header. It is GISCAN believing that
 the header should exist..

To fix this, re-install gobject-introspection, then update pango.

the solution was in graphics/cairo

I had to Build it WITH GLIB Enable GObject Functions Feature

That was Off (by me).

I have this again, again and again in a lot of modules:

- vlc
- framework
- sfx2
- ...

In this way I need a lot of days to build Libreoffice.

Because I cannot watch the build process all the time - every day some
build error occurded, und I have to fix it by hand.

As Olivier wrote, you do seem to have some D-Bus-related issue, and
other KDE4 users (including me) usually communicate over the kde-freebsd
 mailing list.

If you try to manually start `kglobalaccel' on a terminal, what output
 do you get?

I also notice an error message about knotify4. Can you make sure
kde4-runtime is properly installed and knotify4.desktop is present on
 your system?

That was it!

there was NO kde4-runtime installed.

Strange - that that wa lost by update from 4.7 to 4.8...

I will use the kde-freebsd list for next quastions.

Am I the only KDE4 user on Freebsd?

2012-05-29 Thread Heino Tiedemann
Hi,

I updated KDE4 to from 4,7 to 4,8

I am missing the odinary shortcuts like

ALT-F2 (run a command)

CTRL+F1
 F2
 F3
 F4 (goto virtual desktop no X )

ALT+Tab (switch windows)

Crazy: If i try to set the global shortcus in KDE systemsettings (no
idea what it is called in english, it is german here) I got this message

http://rotkap.tsdh.org/kde4-err1.png

That could be the reason! Is that why i cannot use the global
shortcuts?

It seems that ParserFactory.pm (line 12) wants to use
XML::SAX::Exception, but there is no ParserDetails anymore (just deleted
 before ...).

This happens on several boxes with recent 10.0-CURRENT (amd64). Does
 anyone else see this behaviour?

 installation of textproc/p5-XML-SAX-Base helped me

Thanks for answering. It does not help, because
 textproc/p5-XML-SAX-Base is already installed :-(

Mee too!

p5-XML-SAX-Base is there but p5-XML-SA fails.

graphics/linux-XnViewMP

2012-01-12 Thread Heino Tiedemann
Hi There,

it would be nice to have an actual version of graphics/linux-XnViewMP.

Is the maintainer reading this group? Is the Maintainer still the
Maintainer?

http://www.freshports.org/graphics/linux-XnViewMP/

Or is there anybody who likes to maintain it?

Cause:

There is a newer version of that software: XnViewMP beta 0.39 for
Linux/Windows/Mac.

http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=24056

I use it on my office computer (Windows) and it works fine and has
some more goodies than the version in ports.

Hi,

I need the port x11/xvattr.

But now it is expired :(

See his PR:

http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=149851

I need the port zu use vlc AND mplayer - thise players toggle this:

,
| XV_AUTOPAINT_COLORKEY (range 0 to 1)
| client settable attribute
| client gettable attribute (current value is 1)
`

,
| XV_AUTOPAINT_COLORKEY (range 0 to 1)
| client settable attribute
| client gettable attribute (current value is 0)
`

one player cannot run with the settngs of the other...:(

So xvattr is needed to set the attributes to xv.

What can I do?

Don't upgrade ruby? Just because something is a new default doesn't mean
you have to upgrade to it. :)

Of course you could also try portmaster and see if that would be a good
replacement for portupgrade, but that's another topic.

But tell me more:

Is only portupgrade the reaosn for the new ruby?

New perl, why not: perl-after-upgrade

and not this:

,[ man perl-after-upgrade ]
| The standard procedure after a perl port (lang/perl5.X) upgrade is to

I would assume not because, I ereased firefox-devel from ports a few
hours ago and updated www/firefox from svn asmentioned above and got
the same version that I had in firefox-devel.

Revision 522 has now switched to firefox-4.0.source.tar.bz2.

Yes, I got that and rebuilded.

However, the _only_ difference is the addition of a FIREFOX_4_0_RELEASE

Firefox 4 is in the State beta 12 - what means it is the release
 candidate.

Firefox 4 is available for FreeBSD for a long time in our development
repository. Please have a look at this page for more information about
 the freebsd-gecko repository:
 https://trillian.chruetertee.ch/freebsd-gecko/

 Firefox 4 lives at:
 https://trillian.chruetertee.ch/svn/freebsd-gecko/branches/experimental/www/firefox-devel/

We are not going to commit a Firefox 4 Beta or RC to the ports tree. If
you like to test Firefox 4 use the one from the development repository
 at your own risk.

 Cool.

Any manpage or howto how I can gat this on my computer? Do I need SVN
 for that

 1. cd /usr/ports/devel/subversion; make install clean
 2. cd /usr/ports/www
 3. svn co
 https://trillian.chruetertee.ch/svn/freebsd-gecko/branches/experimental/www/firefox-devel
 4. cd firefox-devel
 5. make install clean

The performance of Firefox 4 is impressive, sometimes it's even
 working faster than Chromium.

Yes, it is Fast! I belive it is even faster on startup...

One Question:

Do I HAVE TO put it into my ports tree? Or can I put it somewhere into
my home directory tree?

e.g.
1 cd ~/myports/www
2 svn co
https://trillian.chruetertee.ch/svn/freebsd-gecko/branches/experimental/www/firefox-devel
3 cd firefox-devel
4 make install clean

Does that work? Where doesthe distfile go to then?

distfiles goes to /usr/ports/distfiles. You don't have to mv it into
your ports tree. After you have done sudo make fetch, you can build
the port as a normal user.

What I wanted to avoid is that portupgrade blames the
www/firefox-devel directory.

But - therefore it does no matter if it is installed from ports tree
or from home directory tree:

,
| [Updating the pkgdb format:bdb_btree in /var/db/pkg ... - 554 packages
found (-0 +1) . done]
| ** Port directory not found: www/firefox-devel
| ** Listing the failed packages (-:ignored / *:skipped / !:failed)
| - www/firefox-devel (port directory error)
`

And waht is the difference between make upgrade-site-packages and
portupgrade -r python?

As I explained earlier on freebsd-python@, unlike 'portupgrade -r
python', the upgrade-site-packages target just rebuilds ports that
have files in the library directories belonging to non-default
versions of python, and ports that in turn depend upon them, not
necessarily every port that lists python as a dependency.
upgrade-site-packages is for your convenience, to rebuild a (probably)
smaller collection of ports that are most likely to need rebuilding
after a change in default python versions.

Thanks!

can you tell me if libreoffice is in the list to recompile?

Will this new version alleviate the long standing problem of java not
working? If not, perhaps time might be better spend getting the latest
version of java working correctly with Firefox before wasting more
time porting products that require a modern version of java that
unfortunately FreeBSD does not offer at this time.

Is there realy Java needed somewhere in the web?

That ist right. To skip unneeded stuff is easy, but a usability where I

Maybe I'll - I should - try KDE4 soon - or maybe xfce4...
