H, Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get Free Radius to work with a dial in server?. The articles I have read re: creating a dial in server suggest using ppp with the /etc/password file. I have been using Windows 2000 RRAS for dial up and it works okay. I want to see if I can start using Linux instead. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? See http://www.freeradius.org/list/users.html

The articles I have read re: creating a dial in server suggest using ppp with the /etc/password file. Then why not try that? In any case, configuring installing PPP is outside of the scope of this list. I suggest asking on a pppd list. Alan DeKok. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? Jamrock [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Does Free Radius only handle authentication or does it also manage the dial in process and control the modem? FreeRADIUS handles only RADIUS. You'll need something else for dial-in and modem control. As a start, there's nothing in the web pages or documentation which mentions controlling modems. That should be a strong hint that FreeRADIUS doesn't do that. If I wanted to set up a test dial in server what would I need? Something which does dial-in, I guess. Try searching the net. Re: Free Radius Question
Freeradius handles authentication, authorisation and accounting. It doesn't handle the dial in process. For that you'll need a network access server. Free Radius Question
Good day all, I have been reading a bit about Free Radius but I still have questions. I need to create a dial in box for a few users. I need some clarification on what the software does. Does Free Radius only handle authentication or does it also manage the dial in process and control the modem? If I wanted to set up a test dial in server what would I need? - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? See http://www.freeradius.org/list/users.html

Any idea's? radzap? radzap will not work for SQL users unless they apply the patch I submitted to the development list a few days ago AND change the size of session_id in radutmp to something larger than the default. I'd appreciate others trying and commenting on my patch so that we can possibly get it included in the main code base.
