I am using g4u v2.3 on a machine with an Intel motherboard (DP55WB). This is a
relatively new MB with support for Core i7/i5 processors. It has the Intel P55
chipset and Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbits/sec) LAN subsystem using the Intel®
82578DC Gigabit Ethernet Controller. The problem is that g4u does not recognize
the ethernet controller. When I run ifconfig -a I only see the loopback device
and what appears to be a firewire device.
g4u ifconfig -a
fwip0: flags=8843UP, BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST mtu 1500
address: 00:1e:8c:00:00:c9:b5:9f
inet 0.0.0.0 netmask 0xff00 broadcast 255.255.255.255
lo0: flags=8048LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST mtu 33192
Linux and Solaris have no problem seeing the ethernet device. On RHEL it is
known as eth0 and on Solaris it is known as rge0. The MAC is 00:22:15:ca:8a:3a.
The output of dmesg is 9 screens long. I do not know it there is any way to
capture this data and send it. I could take pictures and send jpeg images of
each screen. If that would be beneficial to aid in this problem I can post them
back to this thread.
Thanks,
