Re: [Audyssey] sound RTS

2008-08-24 Thread Steady Goh
Hi, if you allow traffic through port 2500, others will be able to login to
your server. Anyway, there are usually 2 or more servers up and are quite
active. If others can't connect to you, you can still login to other active
servers and find players there.
The latest version of sound rts is 1.0 beta 10o. You should upgrade if you
haven't. Great improvements and many new maps added. Get it from
http://jlpo.free.fr/soundrts/

It is very easy. Just press enter on Server, then go to either simple server
where only you can create games, or public server where others can create
games. You can also create a private server and it won't be added to the
  public list of servers.

  Hope this helps.

   Hi all,

Is there a way of setting up a server with sound RTS without needing to
know so mutch about networking? I've noticed that setting up a server in a
game like top speed is as easy as selecting that you want to hoste a game.
It seems to me that Sound RTS assumes quite a bit of networking knowledge.
someone please correct me if I'm mistaken here, I don't want to sound like
i'm criticising the game, it's ausum in single player, it's just getting
   that part going.

 Hi Aiden,
Well, it all depends on what ports are blocked by the router.
Obviously, the ports Topspeeed uses are not filtered and that is why you
are getting a two way connection. However, the port that SoundRTS is
either being blocked by your router, or you have a firewall program
blocking the port. Either way chances are good that the port is closed
or filtered by an application or the router.

 sound
 RTS can't?

Hi Aiden, when players enter sound rts multi player mode, we can either choose
the server from the list or enter through the IP adress. If you host a server
and give your IP adress, we will be able to login to your server even if your
port 2500 is blocked. This is how topspeed does anyway.

Hi,
By the way, I looked it up and the SoundRTS server port is port 2500. So

Re: [Audyssey] Emulators question

2008-08-24 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Milos,
The emulators are free, but when it comes to the games themselves the
legality of it is you need to actually own the game cartridges to
legally play the games via an emulator.
For example I still have an original NES and one of the games I have is
Double Dragon. If I download Double Dragon and an emulator from the web
technically it is legal because I physically own that game on the
original media. If I download the same game and an emulator for free off
the web without owning the original media then it then becomes software
piracy. So while you can get the games for free I do suggest you pick up
a copy of the original media off of Ebay or somewhere to keep it legal.
One final note on this list game emulation is a gray area as far as the
moderators are concerned. While I personally have no issue with the
process of game emulation there are legal issues involved with this form
of gaming. Since we can not promote or condone software piracy of any
kind we do ask that emulator sites and game rom locations be kept off
list. Thus we can not be held responcible if a gamer or gamers choose to
pirate the software outright without owning the original media.

Re: [Audyssey] sound RTS

2008-08-24 Thread Valiant8086
Your external IP, but you need to tell your router to forward the stuff that
hits that port to the proper computer that is, your internal IP
192.168.nnn.nnn
This way, i think it was port 2800 right? not gonna look so let's assume
it's port 2800 that your server needs to accept connections from. So
computer 1, that's you, is the server. computer b, is a client, someone else
who wants to play on your server. computer b, connects to your external IP,
let's say it's 112.114.110.14 or something. I can't remember my IP stuff
verry well and thus don't know for sure if that's a valid IP, if not, spare
me the lecture... So computer B locates the IP 112.114.110.14 and hits your
router on port 2800. But your router can't host sound rts, so not a whole
lot of interesting things wind up happening, unless you can tell your router
that when comething comes into it on port 2800, send it to the computer on
which the sound rts game would be hosted. Use your internal Ip
address.192.168.nnn.nnn, and find your router's port forwarding feature and
specify the port, I think that port is 2800, and forward to your computer's
IP.

Yeah, but rerolling will defenetely not help that problem you describe,
iether. Besides, if I'm being stranded I just sleep. I don't care what
people do to me- but the biggest mistake people make is to have drones and
droids following thm. If your gonna get stranded, iether don't have em
following you or have so many med drones and droids that they could never
 stun you.

Re: [Audyssey] Emulators question

2008-08-24 Thread constantine (on laptop)
Hi,

I find the playstation emulators a bit hard to work with. I couldn't find
bios and honestly, anything which you need to download a bios for seems a
bit sketchy to me. I also couldn't find any romms on the web, though I do
own some playstation games. I really wanted to find a sega saturn emulator,
though, boy would that be neat! Btw sega genny and nintendo 64 emulators I
find to be the best, heck you can even record sounds or music from the romms
themselves. And carts are so cheap off ebay you might as well by the system,
too - its like 20 bucks, and games can range anywhere from 5 to 15 depending
on how rare.

Have a good day from Tyler C. Wood!

 Hi Milos,
The emulators are free, but when it comes to the games themselves the
legality of it is you need to actually own the game cartridges to
legally play the games via an emulator.

Hello all,
First, as you see, I am a new member here. My name is Milos and I am a
fan of the games of all sorts. I am sure that you were talking and
duscussing this topic before, however, I would like to ask you, more
experienced gamers than me. Where could I find the nintendo and sony
playstation accessible emulators for free, as well as the games for
 those?
Thank you all in advance!
Regards!
