[Audyssey] Street fighter iv on I-phone/I-pod touch?
Hello all I received an I-pod touch 32gb for the holidays and am looking for a few games to try out. I purchased aurifi and papa sangre and saw street fighter iv for $6 on sale. I'm not interested in purchasing a next generation console and the pc port runs slow on my laptop because of it's intigrated graphics card, so until I get a new desktop built or wait for the nintendo 3ds system and the port of SSF iv comes out, was wondering if this port might be a possibility. I'm assuming not because of voice over incompatibility and looks like the only way controls may work out is if there was bluetooth keyboard support. Perhaps I could get some help cutting out the areas of the controls from a screen protector but that may be more trouble than it's worth. It sounds like a decent little port, around 14 characters or so and pretty impressive music/sound/voice from listening to the videos. Any thoughts or suggestions? Re: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy
Hi Kelly Here you go, it's a pdf guide but still pretty readable. Future boy is excellent, I purchased it back in 2004 and finished it in about 6 hours. It has an excellent built in hint system. I don't remember where it is but there is a menu in the game where you can turn off the graphics and have text only but you still have to use the jaws or other screen reader review cursor to read the text. There is also a setting to allow the things you can ask characters about to appear as numbers so you can press the number of the question you want and press enter. The music, sound and voice acting really adds to the atmosphere. Just wish there was a way for a screen reader to auto read the text responses after pressing enter. I miss those old dos screen readers that just worked. I think unfortunately if you are using jaws, the newer versions work worse with reading the future boy options menus than whatever version was out in 2004. http://www.spyglassguides.com/guides/future-boy.htm Have fun Jay -- Jay Pellis http://blindjay.onlinestoragesolution.com -- From: Kelly Sapergia ksaper...@sasktel.net Sent: Wednesday, December 23, 2009 6:37 PM To: gamers@audyssey.org Subject: [Audyssey] Need A Walkthrough for Future Boy Hi, I purchased the text adventure game Future Boy last week, and so far am enjoying it. However, I think I'm in an unwinnable position, and may need to restart. Does anyone have, or know where I can find, a walkthrough for this game? I've tried looking on the IF Archive in their Solutions folder, but there's nothing there. Thanks for your help. [Audyssey] anyone interested in out of print interactive fiction?
Hi all I have a couple interactive fiction games on cd with complete documentation and was wondering if anyone was interested. Once and future by cascade mountain publishing released in 1998 and the folio editions of Greystone, endgame and pentari first light by Malinche entertainment. I know this isn't a selling list for games but I'm thinking these would make great christmas gifts so I wanted to post here before going to ebay. Please e-mail me for prices if interested, thanks! Re: [Audyssey] Important MOTA Announcement
Hi all I agree with Allison here, it sounds like recoding will make Thomases job easier for later games and updates so the wait would definitely be worth it. Luckily there are a meriad of great games out there from the Draconus Entertainment releases, to Q9 from blastbay studios to the free games offered by jim kitchen. Thomas, I personally think that you should do whatever will be best in the long run. From what you said in your original post, it sounds like that would be taking the time necessary to recode, so I say go for it, and don't listen to the winers. However since I didn't do the preorder thing when it was mont I say go for it man. I have seen wh what your work is nice and if its going to be better than it actually is which by the way actually is quite good then go nock yourself out. At 02:39 p.m. 13/12/2009, you wrote: Hi everyone, Over the passed few months many of you have reported to me a problem with Mysteries of the Ancients where it crashes suddenly and often times without warning. Some times an error will come up stating that a certain *.wav file could not be found, DirectX passes an illegal argument exception, and so on all of which seam to be related to Managed DirectX. I've confirmed this problem is related to Managed DirectX itself, not my games, from various sources so it is quite apparent that the Managed DirectX API for .NET programs needs to be taken out of the game and be replaced with something else much more stable and reliable. I agree that this should be done before Mysteries of the Ancients 1.0 is released. Obviously this will take some time, but there are various options and alternatives open to me at this point. There is a somewhat short term solution I could use where I simply upgrade the existing Genesis Engine written in C# .NET with alternative sound and input APIs. Just off the top of my head there is FMOD,Earclang, the XNA Framework, and SlimDX just to name a few options here. While upgrading the engine to use one or more of these APIs wouldn't take too long I do wonder if that is the better solution for the project long term. A better long term solution is to simply move away from C# .NET altogether and begin converting the code over to C++ now. Two of my projects STFC and USA Raceway are already in the process of being written in C++, and it would be in my long term interests to go ahead and switch the Genesis Engine and Mysteries of the Ancients to c++ now rather than wait to do it later on. For one thing I've been in the process of converting the Genesis Engine over to C++ anyway as well as some on going projects like the new STFC and USA Raceway. Rather than go through the trouble of removing Managed DirectX from the .NET based engine, upgrading it for this one game, it makes more practical sense to save myself the time and work by completing the C++ version of the Genesis Engine. Once that task is completed I could conceivably produce a better more stable version of Mysteries of the Ancients by using the newer and hopefully better C++ based game engine. Another reason why I think Mysteries of the Ancients should be converted to C++ has to do with long term technical support on my end of things. Ever since I began releasing games based on Microsoft's .NET technology my number one technical support issue has been related to downloading, installing, and upgrading the various .NET components you need such as the .NET Framework and Managed DirectX. Were i to switch to C++ I could save both you and I a lot of work downloading, installing, and upgrading libraries as I would primarily use standard Windows libraries that would be found on any XP, Vista, or Windows 7 system. You should be able to just install and go without wondering if you have the absolutely latest DirectX or .NET Framework on your system. I think this is a much better user friendly setup and hopefully would require a lot less tech support from me. Those are just some

[Audyssey] My Video game music radio show is now online!
Hello all- I recently started doing a video game music radio show here at my graduate school, Duquesne University in Pittsburgh pennsylvania. The show is once a week, mondays from 1 til 2 eastern time. Every week, I choose a game or game series, do some research on it to get the history and other information and choose a bunch of music to play. This upcoming show will include music from the games in the Ecco the Dolphin series for the sega cd console, it's very relaxing, ambient music. To listen, just go to www.wdsr.org And click on the link that says Click Here for the WDSR Audio Stream. I will be expanding the show hopefully next semester with the capability for people to call in using the radio stations phone number, skype or various messengers. Depending on the number of listeners i get, i will take requests and maybe do some other things, not sure what yet. Since i record every weeks show, i hope to put them up as podcasts over the summer and continue podcasting them next semester. Does anyone have any info on any accessible podcasting sites where you can put up your audio? I was looking at www.libsyn.com It's around $20 or $30 a month, I think the $20 would serve my needs since my mp3s are between 1 and 2 hours and encoded at 96kbps stereo. The site seems quite accessible as well. Please feel free to send this to any lists or anyone who might be interested in listening.
