Hi Maciej:

At this point I would just go ahead and apply to the program if you
are interested, unless you have specific questions regarding the
project for one of the mentors.

Good luck.

Cheers,

Bernard

2014-03-20 Thread Daniel Pocock

Hi Maciej,

Please see the email I sent on the list yesterday with advice for
writing the proposal

Deadline is tomorrow (Friday, 19:00 UTC) so you don't have much time

Many students are already applying for the data science project so
unless you have really compelling skills in this area, please also
consider some of the other Ganglia project ideas - see the links on
http://ganglia.info - if you want us to suggest which area is best for
you, please tell us your primary development skills and your github profile

Regards,

Daniel

2014-03-20 Thread Hirantha Sankalpa
Hi all,

I'm Hirantha Jayawardena, and I am a computer Science and Engineering
undergraduate at University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. I am interested in your
GSoC project for NVIDIA GPU monitoring enhancements. As I recently joined
the mailing list, I missed the email with advice for writing the proposal
that was mentioned by Daniel Pocock. I'm grateful if you can please send
that email again.

Thank you.

[Ganglia-general] consolidating multiple gmetad's into one gweb

2014-03-20 Thread Timo Benk
Hi,

i want to get multiple gmetad's reporting to a single
gmetad instance:

l1 : g-web
l1 : gmeta
 : / \
l2 : gmeta gmeta
l2 : gmond gmond
 : / \ / \
l3 : gmond gmond gmond gmond

the gmond metrics should be written by the l2 gmetad's into
rrds on an nfs share shared by l1 an l2.

the gweb in l1 should display metrics for the complete landscape
and it should be the only place to get graphs.

what i have achieved so far:

l3 and l2 is working, all gmond's in l3 are reporting to the main
gmond's in l2. the gmetad's in l2 are writing rrd's into the shared
nfs storage and the gmetad in l1 is getting data from the gmetad's
in l2.

what i cannot get to work:

the gweb in l1 does show summary informations for the l1 grid and
it shows the l2 grid including the cpu total value and the hosts up
and hosts down value, but the images are broken.

the link for the images are referencing the l3 servers for some
reason, but what i want is that all graphs will be generated locally
on the l1 gweb server out of the shared rrd files.

here are my configs:

l1 /etc/ganglia/gmetad.conf:
--
data_source grid:grid01 10.68.73.191:8651
gridnamegrid:master
--

l2 /etc/ganglia/gmetad.conf:
--
data_source cluster:cluster01 localhost:8656
gridname grid:grid01
all_trusted on
--

Maybe i am missing some important part?

gweb version:3.5.7
ganglia version: 3.6.0

Greetings,
-timo

[Ganglia-general] multicast not working

2014-03-20 Thread Cristovao Jose Domingues Cordeiro
Hi,

I'm trying to set the simplest of clusters with mcast. Basically I have one
gmetad.conf where I just did:
data_source unspecified node1

then, I have in one cloud, node1, node2, node3, node4 and node5.
All of these have default gmond installations with no changes in gmond.conf.

The problem is that in my frontend, I only get node1 and not the others.
Weren't they supposed to talk with each others and have all the metrics about
each others?

Thanks

Cumprimentos / Best regards,
Cristóvão José Domingues Cordeiro

currently I'm in my 3rd year.
I like to work with HTML, JS,(did for website development and last summer

purposes I like to code in Java( like using for making Android apps),
python, C.
I've also made website for my college's annual cultural festival.

I'm really very interested in Web portal integrating popular monitoring
tools.
As I've some experience in javascript, html and php due to website building
and support page using Cisco Jabber Web APIs and with logic implementation
in python, C and java for game development and Android Application, I'm
really looking forward towards this opportunity of integration of tools as
I loved my work earlier with HPCL portal (http://my.hpcl.co.in).

Re: [Ganglia-general] multicast not working

2014-03-20 Thread Khrist Hansen
I had the same problem due to multicast packets not being routed between
subnets.

Are your nodes on different subnets/VLANs?

There are some tools out there that will test multicast connectivity across
subnets. All that comes to mind for the moment is mping on AIX, but I know
there are more for the various OS platforms.

I had to use unicast in the end, but I am still working on my network
engineering team to enable multicast routing between subnets.

Hope that helps,

Khrist Hansen
