g_b File - E mail problems?
Hi Have you stopped getting emails from this group suddenly? It is highly unlikely that your name has been deleted from the list. We do not delete anybodys membership until and unless the person repeatedly spams or sends pornographic/crude emails you might not be getting your mails is because your email is on the bouncing list. Some members have trouble with bouncing e-mails: Messages that are sent out by the group cannot be delivered to their mailboxes and are sent back to Yahoo. This can happen for various reasons, for example, when their mailboxes are full, or their e-mail addresses have become obsolete, etc. Yahoo doesn't tolerate bouncing mails and will deactivate these persons' memberships. It will, however, send you a reactivation request. All you have to do is reply to that (once you've fixed the problem with your mailbox), and Yahoo will resume sending you the messages. We will also send out these requests daily. Bounced Messages If you subscribe to a Yahoo Groups discussion group under one of the e-mail options (normal or digest), Yahoo Groups will suspend sending mail to you after repeated attempts bounce back. To see your recent bounced messages, view your Yahoo Groups preferences at http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs and click Bounce history for your e-mail address. For more information on bounced-message handling by Yahoo Groups, search Yahoo Groups help for the word bounce. Why does it say my account is bouncing? If group messages sent to your email address are returned to Yahoo! Groups as undeliverable (bouncing), your Yahoo! Groups account may be temporarily disabled. Messages can be returned for several reasons: Your mailbox may be full -- try deleting messages from your Inbox. Your ISP may have a backlog of email to process -- contact your ISP. Your ISP may be blocking email from Yahoo! Groups -- contact your ISP. In many cases, Yahoo! Groups can automatically reactivate your account once the delivery problem is solved. However, in some cases you will need to manually reactivate your account: 1. Visit your My Groups page. 2. Look for a bounce alert near the top of the page. 3. Click the Alert link to reactivate your account. Nice article! I think we're gonna see more such creative minds from the gay circles coming out bold soon! Srini. What was he looking for? Confirmation that his sexuality would not be an impediment in the larger social context, something that MovenPick provided. As opposed to children from hipper, and less conservative outposts, Sadasivan, now in his early 30s suffered with shame and guilt all through his teen life. I had no clue about homosexuality. I had no one to reach out to. I tried to kill myself. I found Internet and it helped me understand my sexuality, accept and be comfortable with who I am and then come out to my friends and family, shares Sadasivan, who is now currently based in New Jersey, United States, where he works in the IT industry. Past the closet days, Sadasivan is now making a splash with his profound stories that are published in the Tamil magazine Thinnai and Thendral. He is also a member of the executive team of Orinam.net, a bilingual LGBT resource website and is trying to create awareness in the mainstream about LGBT issues through his writings. Indian kids normally discuss attraction, sexual feelings with friends. But kids with same-sex attraction can never discuss with their friends, so there is no support system other than the Internet as of now, rues Sadasivan. It is a common queer narrative. The rise of the Internet has kickstarted the emergence of a worldwide queer support system. The personal coming out experience is certainly enhanced by the emergence of online communities. The website lends them anonymity, as people do not give out their real names. If you are anonymous, you can say whatever you want, people can't judge you, says MJ, Mumbai-based co-founder of the two-year-old portal gaysi.com, a first-of-its kind initiative in India, where the desi-gay community comes together and shares personal stories of their struggles and their coming out narratives. Over the past two years, the website is seeing traffic from all over the world, with about 500-600 hits a day of late. Besides international dating sites, there is no online platform where desis can come over and connect. So we set it up pumping in money from our own pockets, said MJ. Though still not a commercially viable project, she is wary of asking for donations. The advertising revenue is next to nothing, so we are looking for other ways of marketing, including endorsements from corporates who are not hesitant to support our cause, she says. 24-year-old Agnivo Niyogi sees larger implications for the LGBT presence on the web in the socio-media landscape. Of late, the LGBT community is seen as a good market to invest. It can prove commercially viable through right marketing and niche products. We already have queer stores and queer e-zones, said the Kolkata-based Niyogi, who is also a contributor to the one-year-old monthly magazine Gaylaxy, an online LGBT magazine. Though there are overseas niche websites such as TwoBrides.com, TwoGrooms.com - a one-stop-shop for gay weddings that offers products, information, wedding stories and ceremony topics - the scene in India is very nascent. People are not willing to come up with such ideas. There is a lack of initiative, rues Niyogi, who works as a content developer with New Age Knowledge Solutions. There wasn't any internet in Thiruvananthapuram, when Krishna Kumar Venkitachalam, now 31, came to grips with his sexuality. There was no one to talk to either. In his early days, Venkitachalam, logged on to Yahoo groups to find friends online. Since then, he has moved base to Mumbai, where Venkitachalam, who has a degree in Orthopedics, works in a KPO by the day and slides into the musician avatar as Kris Bass and gigs by night. Bass is also a popular blogger at www.engayinglife, a seven-year-old blog started in Mumbai. It was through the blog that Venkitachalam chose to come out in 2007. My sister and her husband first read the blog in 2003 and came to know about my orientation, though I officially came out to my parents in 2008. My mother had known about it for sometime but chose to ignore it since she thought I was too young. She is very supportive, though my Dad is still shaky about it, shares Venkitachalam. g_b I'm gay and it twice drove me to attempt suicide
http://www.scotsman.com/ViewArticle.aspx?SectionID=6985ArticleID=6707492 I'm gay and it twice drove me to attempt suicide, reveals Flying Scotsman Graeme Obree Graeme Obree at the height of his career. The former world champion couldn't even use the word ‘gay' when talking to his psychologist Published Date: 01 February 2011 By Stephen Mcginty HE WAS the Flying Scotsman who could not outpace his demons. Graeme Obree, the world champion cyclist, has revealed that the cause of the mental trauma that led to two suicide attempts was his refusal to accept that he was gay. The cyclist, who built his world-record breaking bike from washing machine parts and whose story was turned into a film, has revealed that he has finally achieved contentment by embracing his sexuality. The athlete from Ayrshire, who broke the world one-hour distance record in 1993 on his bike Old Faithful, said he just closed down while growing up. Obree, 45, yesterday revealed the difficulties he encountered in his private life as a married father of two as he tried to accept he was gay. He said: I was brought up thinking you'd be better dead than gay and it was so unacceptable. I was brought up by the war generation - they grew up when gay people were put in jail. Being homosexual was so unthinkable that you just wouldn't be gay. I'd no inkling about anything, I just closed down. People say, 'How can you be gay and be married and have kids and not know it?'. But when I went to my psychologist she reckoned I had the emotional age of about 13 because I'd just closed down. The sportsman went on to win the individual pursuit at the world championships twice in the 1990s. He finally admitted that he was attracted to men in 2005 during sessions with a psychologist who had been assisting him with the depression he had suffered all his life. To me the thought of being gay wasn't acceptable. I thought I was a terrible person. I had to admit, 'Oh my goodness, this is me'. It was so bad because I was the biggest homophobe on the planet, because it was so ingrained in me. • 'Son, I just want to sit here and toast to the rest of your life' I started doing some self- harming, feeling terrible. I would cut myself; it was a way of coping. Even when I was trying to tell my psychologist about my sexuality, I couldn't even use the 'G' word. I had to skirt around the issue. She cut me off and said: 'You mean you're gay?' and I said: 'Well, if you want to use that word' - because I couldn't. Obree then had to break the news to his wife - from whom he is now divorced - his children and his parents. It did create a bit of tension, he said. My parents had to come to terms with the whole gay thing, it's been a journey for them. It was difficult and there were lots of tears. It wasn't easy. But the relationship with my parents has been improved by it. We talked about it and discussed things and we're a lot happier. It's taken years for me not to be ashamed of my sexuality. He twice tried to take his own life and was admitted to mental health units on seven occasions when he began to self-harm. In 1998 he took 100 pills at an airport, then three years later he had to be cut down from a tree after trying to hang himself near his home in Ayrshire. His autobiography The Flying Scotsman was turned into a film starring Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Boyd in 2006. Yesterday, Carl Watt, director of gay rights charity Stonewall Scotland, said: Graeme's coming out and sharing his story with the nation will hopefully be an inspiration to many others in all walks of life who sadly feel they need to hide who they really are. He is Scotland's first champion sportsman to announce he is gay and he is sending a strong message on the impact that discrimination can have on someone's life and health. Unfortunately, homophobia is still prevalent in Scotland. Last Updated: 01 February 2011 2:18 AM Source: The Scotsman Location: Edinburgh
g_b GB Special Sunday Meet on Relationships on 6 February 2011
GB Special Sunday Meet on Relationships What do gay guys mean when they say, I am looking for relationship? Sex? An affair till it doesn’t get boring? A trophy boyfriend to flaunt to the world? A partner to introduce to parents as life partner? A relationship of convenience, strictly to take care of loneliness and old age? A big shot to enjoy expensive gifts and lifestyle? A cute boyfriend just for the heck, because a friend has one? An adorable guy to fall in love with and stay together and committed till death? Gay relationships are complicated. Guys who desperately want a relationship, have no clue what they want out it. Some want to take a break from mindless, marathon sex. For some, seeking relationship is a passing phase. Some guys just want to prove that they were not responsible for their last break up. Some couples get very close and make room for doubts and insecurity. Some give enough space and bond with infidelity. One partner wants to be open about their polygamy; other partner wants to pretend monogamy. One wants to stay closeted, other wants to do masters in PDA. One is married to woman; his boyfriend is divorced to political correct friends. Now the good news is, there are some couples who have sailed over these rough waters. Couples who have been in a rock solid, strong relationship spanning 1 year to more than 20 years. Couples who are going to share their stories, insights and experiences to address your queries. Well, if you find all this boring, here is the fun quotient. A rapid fire round to judge the most eligible guy for relationship, compatibility test for couples and match fixing. Here is your chance to get an inside view of long-distance, open, bisexual, short-term and whatnot relationships. Or meet guys who are single and happy by choice. g_b Bush’s Daughter Endorses Gay Marriage
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/01/us/politics/01bush.html?nl=todaysheadlinesemc=tha23 function submitCCCForm(){ PopUp = window.open('', '_Icon','location=no,toolbar=no,status=no,width=650,height=550,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes'); this.document.cccform.submit(); } January 31, 2011 Bush’s Daughter, in a Break, Endorses Gay Marriage By MICHAEL BARBARO The Bush dynasty is no stranger to generational conflict: father and son differed over deposing Saddam Hussein, raising taxes and the role of the United Nations. Now it is father and daughter who find themselves at odds over a weighty issue. Barbara Bush, one of the twin daughters of George W. Bush, will endorse same-sex marriage on Tuesday, publicly breaking ranks with a father who, as president, pushed for a constitutional amendment banning such unions. Ms. Bush, 29, has taped a video calling on New York to legalize gay marriage. A bill to do that was defeated in the state in 2009. She describes the issue as a matter of conscience and equality. “I am Barbara Bush, and I am a New Yorker for marriage equality,” she says in the brief message, sponsored by an advocacy group. “New York is about fairness and equality. And everyone should have the right to marry the person that they love.” The video ends with Ms. Bush, who lives in Manhattan, imploring the state’s residents to “join us.” Ms. Bush is the latest child of a prominent Republican leader to embrace same-sex marriage, long considered anathema to the conservative movement. Gay rights advocates have been quick to seize on the generational split as evidence that the acceptance of same-sex marriage is blind to party affiliation and family values. Meghan McCain, the daughter of John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, has become an outspoken supporter of same-sex marriage, despite her father’s opposition to it. And Mary Cheney, the lesbian daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, has forcefully backed it as well — and is widely credited with helping to persuade her father to do the same. In the case of Mr. McCain, Mr. Cheney and Mr. Bush, it is not just their children who have supported it. So, to varying degrees, have their wives. Laura Bush, in a television interview in May, said, “When couples are committed to each other and love each other” they should have “the same sort of rights that everyone has.” Ms. McCain, a blogger and author, has said it is unhealthy for members of political families to paper over disagreements on issues of social justice merely to project an image of harmony. “Wives and children should be able to speak their piece,” she said in a television interview last year. “I think it shows healthy dynamics within a family. We shouldn’t all think one way, and think one thing.” Barbara Bush, who started a nonprofit group focused on global health, rarely speaks out on American political issues, making her foray into the same-sex marriage debate so striking. But for years, those close to her say, she has surrounded herself with gay friends — at Yale, where she was an undergraduate, and in New York City, where she worked in the design world. C. Brian Smith, a friend from college who is gay, recalled that the Yale Ms. Bush inhabited was filled with openly gay students and unbothered by questions about sexuality. “She had that mind-set,” he said. “She was loved by the gay community at Yale.” Members of the Bush family seemed uneager to discuss her entry into the marriage debate. Ms. Bush declined an interview request. A spokesman for Mr. Bush said he had no comment. Her sister, Jenna Bush Hager, a correspondent for “Today,” has not publicly discussed the topic. The Human Rights Campaign, a national gay rights group that made the video, plans to show it Saturday at an annual gala in New York City. Advocates said it would show elected officials and voters that, in many cases, young people are not following in their parents’ ideological footsteps. “No matter what party they belong to, young Americans believe in basic fairness and equality,” said Brian Ellner, who is overseeing the Human Rights Campaign’s bid to legalize same-sex marriage in New York.

g_b Homosexuals Seek Greater Acceptance in India
Homosexuals Seek Greater Acceptance in India Rebecca Byerly | New Delhi, India January 31, 2011 Some gays have felt more comfortable 'coming out' about their sexuality since the Delhi High Court decriminalized consensual homosexual activity in 2009 Photo: VOA - R. Byerly Some gays have felt more comfortable 'coming out' about their sexuality since the Delhi High Court decriminalized consensual homosexual activity in 2009 Gay rights activists in India are seeking broader acceptance for homosexual men, lesbians and transgenders that goes beyond legal protection against criminal prosecution. But change is slow to come. It was just in July 2009, when the Delhi High Court repealed Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, the law that made same sex activity illegal in India. Homosexual men, lesbians and transgenders in New Delhi are marching to the beat of a new era. Since the Delhi High Court decriminalized consensual homosexual activity between adults, some gays have felt more comfortable coming out about their sexuality and attending functions like this gay pride parade in New Delhi late last year. For Sambhav Sharma, the repeal of the law gave him the courage to tell his grandmother that he is gay. To show their support, family members joined him in the parade. This is the consequence of Article 377. Because of that, I was able to convince my family to come down here and celebrate my 'Azadi,' my freedom, he said. Many gay men and women in India are not as comfortable as Sharma acknowledging their sexuality. In a conservative society like India, homosexuality is still widely taboo. That is why these parade participants wear masks to hide their identities. Anjali Gopalan is the founder and executive director of the Naz Foundation, a non-profit organization that works on HIV/AIDS and sexual health issues in New Delhi. I think the battle now is the battle for rights. The battle has to be for the right to marriage, the right to adopt, the right to inherit - rights which citizens of this country take for granted. And when I say citizens of this country, obviously the people who are taking it for granted is the heterosexual community because gay people don't have these rights. That's the long battle now. Gopalan says that even in metropolitian areas, some parents think they can change their homosexual children - make them heterosexual - with electric shock treatments. Others believe homosexuality can be cured in some way. That is what teacher Rajendra Narula believes. He attended a recent event in Delhi called Gay Rights are Human Rights. I think it's possible to treat homosexuality. It's just a matter of taking some hormones or counseling and it's absolutely correctable, he said. Gopalan says Narula and others who consider homosexuality an illness, or wrong, need to be taught that is not true. And both she and Sharma say as India develops they hope the government will give more rights to homosexuals. This is just the beginning. Everywhere we want our legal rights. That can be achieved by the recognition that the government will give us. And it will happen.
