g_b File - E mail problems?
Hi Have you stopped getting emails from this group suddenly? It is highly unlikely that your name has been deleted from the list. We do not delete anybodys membership until and unless the person repeatedly spams or sends pornographic/crude emails you might not be getting your mails is because your email is on the bouncing list. Some members have trouble with bouncing e-mails: Messages that are sent out by the group cannot be delivered to their mailboxes and are sent back to Yahoo. This can happen for various reasons, for example, when their mailboxes are full, or their e-mail addresses have become obsolete, etc. Yahoo doesn't tolerate bouncing mails and will deactivate these persons' memberships. It will, however, send you a reactivation request. All you have to do is reply to that (once you've fixed the problem with your mailbox), and Yahoo will resume sending you the messages. We will also send out these requests daily. Bounced Messages If you subscribe to a Yahoo Groups discussion group under one of the e-mail options (normal or digest), Yahoo Groups will suspend sending mail to you after repeated attempts bounce back. To see your recent bounced messages, view your Yahoo Groups preferences at http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs and click Bounce history for your e-mail address. For more information on bounced-message handling by Yahoo Groups, search Yahoo Groups help for the word bounce. Why does it say my account is bouncing? If group messages sent to your email address are returned to Yahoo! Groups as undeliverable (bouncing), your Yahoo! Groups account may be temporarily disabled. Messages can be returned for several reasons: Your mailbox may be full -- try deleting messages from your Inbox. Your ISP may have a backlog of email to process -- contact your ISP. Your ISP may be blocking email from Yahoo! Groups -- contact your ISP. In many cases, Yahoo! Groups can automatically reactivate your account once the delivery problem is solved. However, in some cases you will need to manually reactivate your account: 1. Visit your My Groups page. 2. Look for a bounce alert near the top of the page. 3. Click the Alert link to reactivate your account. g_b File - Personal Advertisements
Hi All 2 personal advertisements seeking mates a month are allowed on the list. Its unfair to others if you post your advertisement every few days. In the past, many have complained that they see too many personal advertisements on the list. So a restriction of 2 personal advertisements per month has been imposed. You may, if you wish, place your advertisement in the classified section at www.gaybombay.info as well. In case you want to reply to a members personal advertisement, kindly click on the persons email address. This will ensure that your reply goes to the concerned person and not to entire list which is what happens when you hit the reply button. So please reply directly to the advertiser and not to the whole group in case your reply is personal. Falling for the same sex, churn the similar butterfly feeling in stomach and the dreamy eyes do hope for a utopian world. But, for gays, it's never been a bed of roses. Living in closet, throughout their lives is a Herculean task, which not many can hold up to. But winds did change their course. With men holding hands and publicly kissing each other to show their affection, a new wave hit the streets of India, a few years back. The rainbow coloured flags, posters, masks and the colorful headgears were thronging the streets, with gay people dancing and rejoicing to the legalization of homosexuality in India. Once a crime under Sec 377 of the IPC, homosexuality is now acceptable, post a lot of persuasion from NGOs and filed petitions, giving the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) community all reasons to smile and celebrate. Coming out of the closet, has given them not only sexual freedom but also the freedom to support their cause and their peoples' choices and demands openly. Two years down the line, since the passing of high court's judgment, the community has come a long way. With the legalization of homosexuality, the country saw its very first gay salon, NYC, coming into broad daylight. We have been here for quiet some time but with the High court order, we published in open and since then I have seen a rise of 40 -45% in my clientele. We are also priced very reasonably which also makes us very accessible, says Sameer Mehta, the owner of the salon. Well, the community doesn't stop at it. It has many supporters who are doing every single bit to make LGBT community mingle with the straight ones without raising eyebrows. Be it Shobhna Kumar's website, queer ink, the first online queer bookstore or Azadbazaar.com, a shopping portal for queers or freedom, a jewellery line launched for LGBT community by a Kolkata based jewellery brand. The gays are leaving no stone unturned to make their presence felt in the society. From colorful mugs to funky T-shirts to bands to key chains, Azaadbazaar.com is here to stay and the concept is definitely a hit among the community. I had already been in the business of making T-shirts and accessories for the LGBT community since 2007, but in late 2008 we decided to take the brand to a whole new level and the market has been quiet open towards it with, Maa Da Ladla and Haan hoon toh being the hot selling T-shirts, says Sabina, founder of the website. Marking its second anniversary, the town is again set to paint its streets in multi-colour hues, rejoicing the existence of LGBT community. And, the gays are all set to parade with pride, celebrating themselves and their sexuality, apparently demanding for same-sex marriage. The Facebook page of New Delhi Gay Pride Parade created by PinkVibgyor says, 'New York has done it, now it's our turn to say yes to same-sex marriages!!!' So, taking a cue from other countries, who have embraced the LGBT community and have given them the permission to enter into wedlock, the supporters are now set to take a leap forward and shout out their demand at the Gay Parade tomorrow at Jantar Mantar. For decades, we have kept our desires and feelings under wraps. But, now with the legalization of homosexuality in our country, we can fulfill the dreams of living together and even marrying each other. With same sex marriage made legal in many countries, we want the same law in our country as well, says Raj (name changed). So, will this parade be able to stir the minds and hearts of lawmakers, is still to be seen. But, the community has its fingers crossed and wants to live their lives without any shame or regret. g_b Delhi set to celebrate 2nd anniversary of decriminalisation of homosexuality
Delhi set to celebrate 2nd anniversary of decriminalisation of homosexuality Published: Friday, Jul 1, 2011, 12:57 IST Place: New Delhi | Agency: PTI Two years since the Delhi high court decriminalised homosexuality there has been no looking back for the lesbian gay bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community here, which is set to mark the second year of celebrations. From harassment cases to pride parades and gay nights at high-end nightclubs to queer film festivals, the community has moved on from joyous celebration to the next step creating awareness, according to activists. After the key event of decriminalisation the next step was to educate the public, create awareness among the people. To ignore is to regress, says Anjum Malhotra, a Delhi University student. On July 2, 2009, the Delhi high court struck down provisions of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code which criminalises gay sex among consenting adults, saying it violated the fundamental rights guaranteed in the Constitution. We plan to organise celebrations on July 2 near Jantar Mantar this year and conduct the annual gay pride at India Gate later this year, says an organiser. The organiser adds, We will distribute pamphlets informing the public about the significance of the day and urge them to join us to fight for our rights. After the court ruling, most nightclub owners say they are happy with this change as it gives them a share of the pink money generated by organising exclusive gay nights tailored for gay clientele. We have gay nights on Tuesdays though we are not really going all out in advertising them because we like to be hush about it, says the owner of a famous club in Chanakyapuri. Where earlier mention of terms like LGBT was very hush-hush with any gathering of the community shrouded in secrecy and bashes being limited to famhouses etc, post July 2, 2009 activists say there are more open events in the city now. Cultural centres like the India Habitat Centre and others have begun holding regular gay-themed seminars, poetry readings, film festivals etc. Committees like Delhi Queer Pride organise fundraisers and events in support of the gay community. Nigah, a non-funded queer collective that works on issues of gender and sexuality has begun organising events every month with free entry. The Nigah QueerFest last year, Delhi's annual celebration of queerness saw huge support from queer and queer friendly people in Delhi, says an activist. A Delhi fortnightly city guide gives information about events happening in the city with timings and venue information, from Sunday Socials to Open Mic Nights for all. Pink Pages, which claims to be India's first gay and lesbian magazine features articles on gay rights, health, fashion, popular culture, cinema, books along with events happening all over the country, with regular contributors from Delhi. In 2008, a gay parade was organised for the first time in the coordinating with similar parades in Delhi, Bangalore, Pondicherry and Kolkata. In subsequent years Chennai, Pune and Bangalore have also seen similar show of support for the LGBT community.
