g_b File - Personal Advertisements

2012-07-01 Thread gay_bombay

Hi All

2 personal advertisements seeking mates a month are allowed on the list. It’s
unfair to others if you post your advertisement every few days. In the past,
many have complained that they see too many personal advertisements on the
list. So a restriction of 2 personal advertisements per month has been imposed.

In case you want to reply to a member’s personal advertisement, kindly click on
the person’s email address. This will ensure that your reply goes to the
concerned person and not to entire list which is what happens when you hit the
reply button. So please reply directly to the advertiser and not to the whole
group in case your reply is personal.

g_b File - E mail problems?

2012-07-01 Thread gay_bombay

Hi

Have you stopped getting emails from this group suddenly? It is highly unlikely
that your name has been deleted from the list. We do not delete anybody’s
membership until and unless the person repeatedly spams or sends
pornographic/crude emails

you might not be getting your mails is because your email is on the bouncing
list. Some members have trouble with bouncing e-mails: Messages that are sent
out by the group cannot be delivered to their mailboxes and are sent back to
Yahoo. This can happen for various reasons, for example, when their mailboxes
are full, or their e-mail addresses have become obsolete, etc. Yahoo doesn't
tolerate bouncing mails and will deactivate these persons' memberships. It
will, however, send you a reactivation request. All you have to do is reply
to that (once you've fixed the problem with your mailbox), and Yahoo will
resume sending you the messages. We will also send out these requests daily.

Bounced Messages
If you subscribe to a Yahoo Groups discussion group under one of the e-mail
options (normal or digest), Yahoo Groups will suspend sending mail to you
after repeated attempts bounce back. To see your recent bounced messages,
view your Yahoo Groups preferences at http://groups.yahoo.com/myprefs and
click Bounce history for your e-mail address. For more information on
bounced-message handling by Yahoo Groups, search Yahoo Groups help for the word
bounce.

Why does it say my account is bouncing?
If group messages sent to your email address are returned to Yahoo! Groups as
undeliverable (bouncing), your Yahoo! Groups account may be temporarily
disabled.
Messages can be returned for several reasons:
• Your mailbox may be full -- try deleting messages from your Inbox.
• Your ISP may have a backlog of email to process -- contact your ISP.
• Your ISP may be blocking email from Yahoo! Groups -- contact your ISP.
In many cases, Yahoo! Groups can automatically reactivate your account once the
delivery problem is solved. However, in some cases you will need to manually
reactivate your account:
1. Visit your My Groups page.
2. Look for a bounce alert near the top of the page.
3. Click the Alert link to reactivate your account.

2012-07-01 Thread gay_bombay

Tired of too many emails from this group?

Hi All

I know that this group has been generating too many emails. Many
subscribers are flustered at the number of mails. Some of you might
be thinking of leaving the group because you do not like your mail
box to be clogged with mails.

But just in case you do not know, you have the option of receiving
all your emails in a digest mode or you can opt for no email mode.

That way, you can see what's new on the website and still keep a
clear mailbox. You will never receive mail from us if you do that.
YOU choose when to visit us ... and you can check out what you like
and can skip over what doesn't interest you.

(Or choose Daily digest ... once or twice a day, you will receive
an email -- text only -- listing all new postings ... just click on
the messages link at the top of the digest to go to the web
archive to see any attachments.)

How ?

Depending on what you opt for, you can send mail to:

Digest Mode:- gay_bombay-dig...@yahoogroups.com

No Mail Mode:- gay_bombay-nom...@yahoogroups.com

Hi.

I am sure you are enjoying reading the thought provoking, at times
funny, at times informative mails and also seeing the JPGs/pictures
that members post on this list

However, at times you may get a lot of mail and it may flood your
email box.

If you feel flustered and feel that there are too many emails, I'd
like to remind you that you don't have to leave just to stop us from
clogging your inbox.

You have the option of

1) getting your mails in digest form (however you will not be able
to see the pictures in this format)
Daily digest ... once or twice a day, you will receive an
email -- text only -- listing all new postings ... just click on the
messages link at the top of the digest to go to the web archive to
see any

2) or you can view mails directly on the web... and choose the

mailbox. You will never receive mail from us if you do that. YOU
choose

3)no email option

I hope this helps. The commands for choosing the various modes are

*London World Gay Pride shambles
 *
*Floats banned, Soho events cancelled, rally restricted

Mayor, police Westminster urged to re-open negotiations *

London - 29 June 2012

“The sudden, drastic curtailment of the World Pride parade, rally and
street parties is a huge blow to London and its gay community. The promised
extravaganza looks set to descend into a chaotic damp squib. Visitors from
all over Britain and the world face disappointment. It will do great damage
to London’s reputation just three weeks before the Olympics,” said human
rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, who helped organise Britain’s first Gay
Pride parade, held in London 40 years ago, in July 1972. He is Director of
the Peter Tatchell Foundation.

Mr Tatchell was commenting on the announcement by the organisers that the
World Pride events in London on Saturday 7 July will be massively scaled
back. See their news release below.

This year is the first time that London has hosted World Pride, which
brings together lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people from
all over the world to participate in a parade, rally and human rights
conference. The event’s slogan is: “Decriminalise homosexuality worldwide -
Global equality for LGBT people.”

This year’s World Pride is hosted and organised by Pride London:
http://www.pridelondon.orghttp://petertatchellfoundation.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4379a080f75712b27b8aa2fbdid=601d87eaf1e=7cab07c349

London police and municipal authorities accuse the World Pride organisers
of unpaid debts and failing to advance the necessary funds to cover this
year’s events. The World Pride organisers dispute last year’s debts and
assert that the funds required would have been raised eventually, to allow
this year’s festivities to proceed largely as planned. The veracity of
claim and counter-claim is impossible to ascertain.

“I urge the mayor, police and Westminster council to re-open negotiations
with the World Pride organisers to allow the scheduled events to take
place, for the sake of the million-plus people expected to participate and
to avoid widespread chaos across central London.

“The authorities are accused of unexpectedly and unreasonably demanding
that the advertised parade start time be switched from 1pm to 11am. At this
late stage, it will not be possible to alert all the people who are
planning to attend. Many are arriving on pre-booked trains, planes and
coaches, based on a kick-off time of 1pm. They will arrive at the start
point long after the parade has departed and will be left wandering the
streets, not knowing where to go.

“The change in the parade start time is a huge gamble by the mayor, police
and Westminster council. The scheduled orderly parade could well descend
into mayhem, with the much of central London becoming gridlocked for hours
with vast confused crowds.

“Banning floats in the parade is a big blow to the many LGBT charities that
have spent thousands of pounds on hiring and decorating them. They will
lose a major opportunity to raise their profile and publicise their work.

“The shortening of the post-parade rally in Trafalgar Square will force
organisers to drop booked entertainers and human rights speakers. The main
street party in Soho has been cancelled. These ill-advised decisions are
likely to result in hundreds of thousands of people milling aimlessly
around the West End. It is a recipe for confusion and disruption.

“The actions of the authorities will turn what would have been a positive
event for London into a PR disaster. Vast numbers of people will be left
feeling let down and angry.

“Regardless of these problems, the parade will go head. Without the floats
and parties, it will revert to its roots - a protest march for LGBT human
rights worldwide. This is entirely appropriate, as July is the 40th
anniversary of the UK’s first-ever Gay Pride parade, which took place in
London on 1 July 1972,” said Mr Tatchell.

g_b HIV transmission risk during anal sex 18 times higher than during vaginal sex

HIV transmission risk during anal sex 18 times higher than during vaginal
sex
Roger Pebody
Published: 28 June 2010

The risk of HIV transmission during anal intercourse may be around 18 times
greater than during vaginal intercourse, according to the results of a
meta-analysis published online ahead of print in the*International Journal
of Epidemiology.*

Moreover, as well as this empirical work, the researchers from Imperial
College and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine carried out
a modelling exercise to estimate the impact that HIV treatment has on
infectiousness during anal intercourse. They estimate that the risk of
transmission from a man with suppressed viral load may be reduced by as
much as 99.9%.

Anal intercourse drives the HIV epidemic amongst gay and bisexual men.
Moreover a substantial proportion of heterosexuals have anal sex but tend
to use condoms less frequently than for vaginal sex, and this may
contribute to heterosexual epidemics in sub-Saharan Africa and elsewhere.

Rebecca Baggaley and colleagues conducted a systematic review and
meta-analysis (an analysis of all the medical research that meets
predefined requirements) of the risk of HIV transmission during unprotected
anal intercourse. The same authors have already conducted similar reviews
of the transmission risk during vaginal
sexhttp://www.aidsmap.com/Heterosexual-HIV-transmission-more-likely-with-sexually-transmitted-infections-early-or-late-stage-disease-no-circumcision-or-anal-sex/page/1433763/?
 and oral
sexhttp://www.aidsmap.com/Oral-sex-risk-very-low-but-not-zero-concludes-systematic-review/page/1432786/?
.

Despite the importance of the topic, only 16 studies were judged to be
relevant enough to include in the review. While 12 were conducted with gay
or bisexual men, others collected data on heterosexuals who frequently had
anal intercourse. All studies were from Europe or North America.

Although the researchers looked for studies published up to September 2008,
almost all the reports used data that were collected in the 1980s or early
1990s, which means that the findings do not reflect combination therapy’s
impact on transmission. The researchers were not able to include a study
with Australian gay
menhttp://www.aidsmap.com/Gay-mens-risk-of-acquiring-HIV-is-similar-to-the-pre-HAART-era-despite-widespread-use-of-HAART/page/1437709/?,
published a few months ago.
Estimate of the per-act transmission risk

Four studies provided estimates of the transmission risk for a single act
of unprotected receptive anal intercourse. Pooling their data, the summary
estimate is 1.4% (95% CI, 0.3 to 3.2).

Two of these studies were conducted with gay men and two with
heterosexuals, and the results did not vary by sexuality.

The estimate for receptive anal intercourse is almost identical to that in
the recently published Australian study (1.43%, 95% CI, 0.48 to 2.85). This
is despite the fact that the Australian data were collected after the
widespread introduction of combination therapy.

The review did not identify any per-act estimates of the risk for the
insertive partner. However, the recent Australian study did produce
estimates of this: 0.62% for men who are not circumcised, and 0.11% for men
who are circumcised.

Baggaley and colleagues note that their estimate for receptive intercourse
is considerably higher than the estimates they produced in their previous
reviews. In developed country studies, the risk of transmission during
vaginal intercourse was estimated to be 0.08%, whereas the receptive anal
intercourse estimate is 18 times greater. For oral sex a range of estimates
exist, but none are higher than 0.04%.
Estimate of the per-partner transmission risk

Twelve studies provided estimates of the transmission risk during the whole
time in which a person with HIV is in a relationship with an HIV-negative
person. The authors note that most of these studies did not collect enough
information on factors such as length of the relationship, frequency of
unprotected sex and condom use to fully make sense of the data.

Ten of these studies were conducted with gay men only.

For partners having both unprotected receptive and insertive intercourse,
the summary estimate of transmission risk is 39.9% (95% CI, 22.5 to 57.4).

For partners having only unprotected receptive intercourse, the summary
estimate was almost the same, at 40.4% (95% CI, 6.0 to 74.9).

However, it was lower for people only having unprotected insertive
intercourse: 21.7% (95% CI, 0.2 to 43.3). The authors comment that the data
support the hypothesis that insertive intercourse is substantially less
risky than receptive intercourse.

The individual studies that these estimates are based on often had very
different results, in part due to different study designs and analytical
methods. As a result, the confidence intervals for these
