Re: [gentoo-user] Nvidia-drivers + kernel 3.4
don't, use 295.59 :) 2012/6/15 Philip Webb purs...@ca.inter.net I haven't seen any mention of the problem here, but after installing Kernel 3.4 , Nvidia-drivers 295.49 wouldn't compile. The solution (via Google + Launchpad bugzilla) is to copy 4 header files from /usr/src/linux/arch/arm/include/asm to -/-/-/-/x86/include/asm : system.h compiler.h system_info.h system_misc.h . Also the Ethernet kernel config lines have changed a bit I had to ask explicitly for my mobo's version with 'r8169'. [gentoo-user] Re: Can't get any microphone to work
Hi again! I don't have pulseaudio and my device doesn't appear as a separate device. What I really can't get is why arecord -L shows me info about speakers when it's supposed to show only capture devices. Also, could someone please give me an example of arecord usage to capture from a (non-default) device named 2,0 in vlc. (I *did* read the man page but it's still a bit unclear) arecord -D hw:1,0 -f S16_LE -c2 -r48000 | aplay :-)

[gentoo-user] still problems with nvidia-drivers-295.40 and above
Some time ago I wrote about a problem I have with nvidia-drivers causing X to segfault for versions above 295.20 (including the beta 302.x series) on a ASUS GT520, PCI-e board. Now it's becoming a mess to update the system because 295.20 is no longer in-tree. Rather than fiddling with overlays I'd like to understand where the problem is. Can anybody suggest a live cd that could include an nvidia-drivers-295.40 or later version so that I can at least rule out hw problems? thanks, raffaele
