[gentoo-user] System hangs for a while on mounting filesystem boot message
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, I'm getting a little hang when I boot my system. This happens since kernel 2.6.12 final. It didn't occur with 2.6.12rc1 :( At boot, after loading modules message and just after the mounting filesystem message, my box hangs for a little while and so start the normal process of mount root partition and the rest. But this little hang is annoying :( Is anybody getting this? There was any modification on filesystem from kernel point of view which could be adding some lag, or something like that in order to mount it? I'm using now kernel 2.6.13.4 which also has this problem. I tried 2.6.14 with no luck but reverted to 2.6.13.4 because on 2.6.14 nor my usb mouse, nor my nic card work with it :( I get a disabled int10. Please, let me know if you have any suggestions or tips. I'm really desperate to have this fixed. Thanks in advance. KDE 3.3 and 3.4 are in different slots so it should be possible to install them side by side. It does have window transarancy support, although how well this works will be down to you graphics card, which drivers you are using and how lucky you are. It will require xorg-x11-6.8.0 or higher.
