Thanks for the suggestion. On my machine this key doesn't do anything unless I 
use Windows. On http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Lenovo_3000_V100 it 
says: The monitor switching button emits a scancode but is not tied to a 
keycode.  Obviously under Windows the screen is switched by software.

Thanks for the suggestion, but if I remove them it says you have to have a 
MonitorLayout option. The solution was to plug the monitor only right before 
X starts.

That is exactly what I mean. The problem seems to be that the BIOS sets the 
external monitor as the default output device if it is already plugged when 
the computer is switched on. Unlike my father's notebook, mine doesn't have 
an option in the BIOS setup to set the internal screen as the default output 
device.

If you select the pane in which you have the search results and then check 
both Lock to Current Location and Link View, you needn't even drag the 
links, but can just click on them and they're opened in the other pane. IMO 
this is a great feature of Konqueror.

I did as Ilya Hegai suggested, i.e. I unmerged Amarok, did a 'find /usr -name 
*amarok*' and deleted all the .la files this returned, which were:

- /usr/kde/3.5/lib64/kde3/libamarok_void-engine_plugin.la
- /usr/kde/3.5/lib64/kde3/libamarok_gstengine_plugin.la
- /usr/kde/3.5/lib64/kde3/libamarok_xine-engine.la
- /usr/kde/3.5/lib64/kde3/konqsidebar_universalamarok.la

After having reemerged Amarok, it works.

I can't tell you if this is normal, but sse3 isn't shown in my /proc/cpuinfo 
either (neither is it in Gentoo nor was it in Debian before I switched to 
Gentoo) (I have a Sempron 2800+). In some Benchmark program under W** XP 
(I don't remeber which one) it was stated that my Processor has SSE3, so I 
guess it's a bug in the linux kernel.

I have a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version of (mostly stable) Gentoo on the 
same PC and when playing gl-117 I get (assuming everything is set on the 
highest quality in gl-117) around 15 - 20 FPS on the 32 bit Gentoo and around 
30 - 40 FPS on 64 bit Gentoo. This is not too representative, especially 
since not all libs and progs are exactly the same version on both 
installations, but I still think this shows 64 bit CAN make a big difference, 
depending on what you plan to do with your new system.

For me it works. I can't tell you what the problem is, but you could try to 
make kde run the command 'amixer set Master 1+' whenever you press the 
XF86AudioRaiseVolume key using the input actions in kcontrol as a workaround.

Strange. Are you sure it's got something to do with the kde update? You could 
test if it is a kde problem by assigning the XF86AudioRaiseVolume to some

[gentoo-user] Windows show through the OpenGL screensaver when Transluency is activated

Hi list

Whenever I have transluency and shadows activated in the KDE control center 
and an OpenGL screensaver is running, I can see the windows whose content is 
changing (such as the watch in the systray or an xterm in which I'm 
emerge'ing something) although the screensaver running. Those windows are 
shown when their content changes, but only for a short time and what is shown 
remains always the same. 

Does anybody have an idea what I could do against this?

keyworded on AMD64 but not on x86.

delete your pictures or put them online without your permission. Of course
