On your Windows 2K/XP CD you got an NFS client in the tools
directory thus enabling NFS too.

anything other than samba the works reliably.

HTTP
FTP
DAV
Samba
SSH/SCP
(probably others too)

Take your pick. Though as far as I know the only one Windows can
actually mount (as a drive) is Samba.

I think that newer versions of Windows can access WebDAV shares using
Web Folders.

Re: [gentoo-user] Duplicate mouse clicks??

2006-01-25 Thread Yann Garnier

Hi,

Since hardware is involved, Did you check:

1 - With another USB mouse ?
2 - With your mouse on a different USB port ?

I know it seems evident but it's just to be sure that your problem
is a software one

and not a hardware one.

Hi all,
Recently I have been having a problem with my usb mouse actions.
In kmail when deleting messages using the bin icon sometimes 2

Sometimes when reading messages another instance will appear in a
separate

window.
Sometimes I have to click a number of time to raise the menu.
If I exit out of a program (file exit) the program exits but the
desktop icon

underneath gets activated.
It's almost like 2 clicks are happening instead of 1.
KDE is set up for single click.
This has only started happening within the last week.

I'm sure this will turn out to be something simple and stupid that
I have

done, but I just can't solve it.
Can anyone HELP please

[gentoo-user] Portage question...

2005-09-14 Thread Yann GARNIER
Hi all,

I did an emerge -vuD world last week and, among other thing, it updated GCC
from 3.3.5 to 3.3.6 (which seemed to be a good thing..)
Today after an emerge --sync I wanted to re-update my system ... and I'm
wondering why portage 'wants' to downgrade my version of GCC from 3.3.6
to 3.3.5... but also wondering why it suddenly wants to install giflib (which
is blocked because of libungif...)
The only thing I can do now to update the system is to add -gif in my
make.conf file.

Is there any other way to solve the giflib/libungif conflict ?

What makes portage want to install giflib ?

Can someone tell me what I missed ?

In advance thank you.

It will (understand should) rebuild the symbol index .
Hope this can help.

Re: [gentoo-user] Something strange with emerge...

2005-06-21 Thread Yann Garnier

Andrew, Holly, everyone,

I did an 'emerge --info' to check what USE flags were set, and I saw
that portage used the gnome flag.

This gnome flag is not set in the make.conf

I tried the -t switch ('emerge -pvuDt wold') and the output is just
the same ... don't have any tree of any kind...
The only thing I can do is to add -gnome into my make.conf and then
It is a regular output.

Do you thing there's a more elegant way to run an update properly ???

Any way thanks for your help (I didn't think about the -t switch).

Either 'gnome' snuck into your USE flags, or some package that you
already have
installed suddenly gained a dependency on gnome (new version or
something). Run
'emerge -uDpvt' to get an idea of which package is pulling in all
those gnome deps.
