** Default JPEG Quality (quickie, not a real topic) **
Change to 95 2x1, and add a hack to save defaults (using something
like the PNG plugin does, or something more elegant). Note that a
decent system to save plugin defaults, along with other api changes,
is not something that will happen for 2.8.

So you set the quality slider to 95 to ensure files will be big, but set
sampling to 2x1 to ensure the image quality will be poor? I don't see
the sense in this.

Also the JPEG export plug-in has had a stored default for years. What
are you trying to add?

Note that if the source file is JPEG the plug-in offers similar settings
to the originating file by default. You can still click load defaults
to override it.

For me the big difference is usability.
When I work in GIMP what happens to me quite a lot is that I click just next
to a window of an image I'm working on and all my GIMP windows are not shown
on my screen anymore because I activated the application I had visibly open
 below the GIMP windows.
To get GIMP back you have to click on all your GIMP windows in the taskbar.

Actually you can work around this problem in your window manager by
selecting an image window and pressing the tab key twice. First to hide
the docks and the second to bring them back. This has the side effect of
raising them to the top of the window stack.

One can get fontconfig 2.2 from Red Hat Rawhide. It works fine on RH9.

I have added an example link to the GIMP RPMs download page at:

Yeah. I actually wanted something more like 3dsmax than maya. I did a
mockup last july... http://www.gnome.org/~drc/jeepo/4waymenu.png
(Ignore the menu contents, they are random.)

I wanted this to be a poweruser feature. So it shouldn't be enabled my
default.

Re: [Gimp-developer] Problem with CMYK TIF

2001-04-09 Thread Ville Pätsi

These 0.5K bytes were from Ulrich Windl,
Importing a CMYK TIF image produced on a Power Mac with a
Heidelberg/Linotype Scanner, I found that the progressbar does not work
when reading the image, and at the end the image in rotated by 180
degrees. This was in GIMP 1.2 as delivered with SuSE Linux 7.1.
(RGB TIFs produced on the same machine appear normal)

Gimp does not currently have any support for cmyk images. It is planned for
future 2.0.X releases.
