Now the Help-buttons and F1 produce no longer an error. They start a

the focus on a specific detail.

Now it would be good to find out why this was necessary at all. Could
you start GIMP from a terminal with the GIMP_DEBUG environment variable
set to the value help and send us the output you get when you press
the F1 key?

[Gimp-user] Free select tool in 2.6

2010-07-19 Thread Jeffery Small

I recently upgraded from Gimp 2.4.3 to 2.6.8. The free select tool has
changed to allow polygon edges and this also now requires that the stop
point be extremely close to the start point in order to close the area when
dragging the cursor. Is there a way to re-establish the old behavior so
that holding down the left mouse button and dragging the cursor to define a
region will automatically close when the mouse button is released? There is
no mention of this in the manual.

Thanks.

Hi

There currently is no way to do this, but note that you can press Return
to close a pending free selection, so you can replace

   1. Drag and release

with

   1. Drag and release
   2. Press Return

Martin

[Gimp-user] MIssing .orf

2010-07-19 Thread A. den Oudsten
I installed openSUSE 11.3 and Gimp 2.6.8 was installed. To my surprise
the possibility to convert .orf files was gone!!
Is it possible to install that as an add-on or plug-in?

Thanks,

you probably need to install dcraw, see if it is in your packages

dcraw is installed, but my intention was to have it within Gimp.

[Gimp-user] How do I apply the same layer mask to multiple images?

2010-07-19 Thread Ken Warner
I want to apply the same layer mask to 8 to 12 tiff images.
It's a simple alpha mask to turn a portion of the tiff images
transparent.

I have saved the alpha mask as a tiff file. Should I save it
as another type of file?

The I can open the layer mask file as a layer and apply it
one by one to each image. But that's a lot of repetitious
clicking and pointing.

What would be a better faster way to do this?

I am on Windows XP Pro SP3 and I know of 2 ways to start
GIMP: either doubleclick the GIMP-icon on the desktop or the
 gimp-2.6.exe file.

there is a third way

Click on Start, how you will do to make the programs list pop out, close at the
bottom, at left you will see run

there type the path for gimp exe (to avoid typo you can RIGHT click on
gimp.exe, chose propriety and copy the path

that should look as C:\Program Files\GIMP 2.6\bin\gimp.2.6 exe
then click ok or press enter

How to set beforehand the GIMP_DEBUG
environment variable is way beyond my knowledge.

also mine..anyway maybe start gimp from Run adding verbose will help
something as
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2.6\bin\gimp.2.6 exe -verbose
(but maybe you HD is not called C)

But nevertheless, I meanwhile found out that I have (a lot

Sure..there you may see a lot of empty folders as script plugin brush, etc
There you are supposed to add your extra, as third party plugins, scripts, brush
In case of upgrade they will preserved (but instead,if placed in the
programfiles folders, will be all deleted by upgrades)
