The article is interesting, talking about a "vulnerability" in the 2.4.14-2.4.18pre9 kernels. I don't think that the article says anything that hasn't been known for a while now. What I find interesting is that it is on Yahoo news. A minor kernel bug, if even that, is worthy of such main stream placing.
