There's no extra repository of tile images. All of them are just the symbolic icons from Adwaita, recolored and tweaked for this look. This will probably all change. I want to try out using the kind of image-on-top card look you see all over the internet, including on the GNOME 40 page. That will take some work in creating nice thunbnail images. It would be good to have a couple stock thumbs that can be used on random extra card links. Thanks Shaun, that clarifies the status of the experimental style. -- Rgds, Gunnar Hjalmarsson https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj ___ gnome-doc-list mailing list gnome-doc-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-doc-list

Hey, sorry, just realized I never replied to this. On prefs.page, I decided to just go with the tiles without icons. I think it looks ok. Not great, but ok. There's no extra repository of tile images. All of them are just the symbolic icons from Adwaita, recolored and tweaked for this look. This will probably all change. And if anybody out there is good at graphic design and CSS, I'm trying to revamp the help style when time permits, but I could use extra brains on the work. -- Shaun ___ gnome-doc-list mailing list gnome-doc-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-doc-list

Hi Gunnar, No, there's no secret switch or anything to turn on that style. I just put "experimental" in the style name so that anybody using it knows they're not using a stable feature. I don't know why the tiles wouldn't be showing up. Are you processing the docs with yelp-xsl 40? When you look at the index page, are the links rendered as boxes with blue bars with the icon missing? Or are they just regular links? Thanks for your hints! On Debian I had upgraded yelp but not yelp-xsl. Upgrading the latter from 3.38.3 to 40.2 fixed it. As regards Ubuntu it was an embarrassing oversight on my side. We have a custom index.page, and once I had added the "experimental-gnome-tiles" style the icons showed up as expected. But on Ubuntu there is another related problem: We have the additional group "Install & remove software", but no related tile image. And finally a question about prefs.page: That page is prepared for the new style, but no images are shown — only dark blue fields to the left. Re: Revamping gnome-help style
Hi Shaun, I have just updated gnome-help for Debian/Ubuntu to GNOME 40.1, but the new tile-*.svg icons don't show up anywhere. That made me suspect that I had missed something, such as some build or runtime dependency. But then I noticed this: On 2021-02-10 21:30, Shaun McCance wrote: * Use a new experimental icon tile presentation for the front page of gnome-help (and possibly other prominent guide pages). I've named the style in yelp-xsl "experimental-gnome-tiles" to really drive home that this is experimental and I don't want other docs to use it. I want to be able to iterate on it quickly without worrying about how many docs I'm affecting.
