He refused to call law and order police nor did he take the number of the taxi, inspite of the chowky being just on the opposite side. He told me to complain but he refused to accompany me to the police chowky. 2) Though there is metered taxi lane in addition to pre-paid taxi lane, the metered taxi lane entrance and outlet is blocked by parked taxis whose drivers take advantage to corner passengers by soliciting and charging or demandign exorbitant lump-sum amounts. It is very clear that the constables have a nexus with the taxi drivers. In today’s time through various citizens empowerment laws we can prove that there is a “corrupt practice” . There are many such customer soliciting drivers who park their taxis and go inside the railway station to catch hold of innocent outstation (including local passengers) and charge them a lumpsum. This practice is prevalent both outside the passenger outflow from platform number 6 and also at the Dadar Terminus Juction area. At the Dadar Terminus Junction area the taxis are parked there just to get their turn to get such passengers. The taxis that are parked can easily be directed towards metered taxi lane which is outside platform number 6. 3) The constable to whom I complained his name plate was not visible as it was facing down and he refused to give his name. He said the name plate expense is done by him and it is not given by department. 4) One of the taxi drivers shouted at me “how to pass the time when we are waiting, that is why we play cards” and “shall we come to your place to play cards” this all happened in front of constable, this statement gives clear message that the traffic police and law order police know of this nuisance, which cannot continue with out abetment by stationed traffic policeman and law order police. What was of further utter disregard is that the constable said go where you want to - whether Sr. Police inspector or to CM 5) Whenever the outstation trains arrive the constabulary stationed just sneak in the chowky giving a free hand to taxi drivers to go all out and fleece the passengers. This is a daily affair at the Dadar station, we don’t have any option but go on complaining to various authorities. This seems to be a modus operandi of administration to frustrate the complainers. We immediately expect you to take action on the constable, we are ready to come to identify the constable if need be. In our wedding receptions and other functions, we conveniently forget Konkani and take great delight in using English, thereby offending the elderly persons present who do not understand a word in English, said Fr. Eusebio Gomes, Editor of Konkani weekly, *Vavraddeancho Ixtt*. He was speaking as Chief Guest during the book release function organized by Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) at Ravindra Bhavan’s Black Box in Margao on Sunday, 22 June 2014. Also present on the dais were writers Mariano Lucas Diniz, Jeetendra R. Fadte and Jack de Vasco whose books were released besides DKA President Premanand A. Lotlikar, Secretary Vincy Quadros and Treasurer Walter Menezes. Not long ago, there was an enormous demand for literature in Romi Konkani but things are different today and to sell even 500 copies is a difficult task, regretted Fr. Gomes. He called upon everyone to read Konkani literature to encourage and support the writers. On this occasion, three Konkani books were released by Fr. Gomes - two poetry books, ‘Tuji Xokti’ by Mariano Lucas Diniz and ‘Zagor’ by Jeetendra R. Fadte and a book in tiatr form ‘Ragan Kazar Mogan Divors ani Eksuro’ by Jack de Vasco. All the three writers briefly shared their views about the books which were evaluated by Konkani writer and former Headmistress Irene Cardozo. DKA President in his address highlighted his presence and that of Jeetendra R. Fadte on the dais and said that it spoke volumes about the bond that existed between Hindus and Christians as well as Muslims in the academy and stated that the academy was making all efforts to increase Konkani readership. An emotionally-charged Lotlikar regretted that in spite of working round the clock for the development and progress of the academy since taking over the DKA reins after February 2014 elections, there were attempts made by a few members to cast stones at him and accused Fr. Pratap Naik of being the mastermind behind such moves. We have won the elections with a thumping majority and since Fr. Pratap did not succeed to defeat us in the elections, he has now launched a signature campaign to dislodge the Present President by moving an Amendment in the constitution, Lotlikar disclosed. He recalled the supreme sacrifice made by seven Goans – and not Mangaloreans - who laid down their lives to make Konkani the official language of the state and questioned how Fr. Pratap could ever think of working towards including Marathi also as the official language of Goa. He said he was ready to lay down his life for the academy but will not allow the sinister designs of Fr. Pratap to prevail. In his welcome address, DKA Secretary Vincy Quadros highlighted the salient features of Kombri scheme where all assistance and encouragement is provided to the writers to publish their first book in an attempt to iron out whatever difficulties that they may face, thus paving the way for their second book. Julio D’Cunha entertained the audience with a few choice Konkani songs before the commencement of the function. P. Agnel Fernandes compered the function while DKA Treasurer Walter Menezes delivered the vote of thanks. The function concluded with the national anthem.

Parrikar as well as Modi should show maturity in dealing with these fringe elements that are hurdles for development of our country. *MANDOVI RIVER IS POLLUTED OR NOT?* *Today in NT 25th June 2014 Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, gave the statement that Mandovi is cleanest river in Goa. Let us accept his verdict. Although so many organizations which includes NIO, and some private agencies/organisations are at the work for analyzing the water samples and all of them including Goa State Pollution Control Board indicates that there is enough evidence of pollution in Mandovi River. The data studied and analyzed by NIO with their sophisticated instruments may not go wrong and surprisingly the statement coming from a IIT person who is a Chief Minister of Goa could also be right at certain extent. Let us not go with those controversies but what is most important is that there is no point to support the casinos vessels stay in Mandovi and definitely will be polluting the river if not now but later. That means these Casinos vessels need to be given marching orders immediately without thinking. The investigation or analyses may show different readings by different Institutions at different seasons as it depends where the sample is collected and at what stage whether in the monsoon or other seasons and what type of instruments were used, but pollution definitely exists at different levels.
