Application procedure Applicants should be seriously engaged with researching and developing their own photography language. They should be open and willing to live modestly with other artists for a period. The selected residents will have to commit themselves to being present at the Sundarbans during the time of this residency programme. Documenting the research undertaken during the residency is an integral part of the process that will shape the analysis of artist’s work and the conclusions that one may draw. Hence resident artists will be expected to carry out systematic and regular documenting of the processes explored through a blog or other media. In this edition, the artist would choose one process from the provided five options, to work in the residency. The processes that we have identified are 1.Van dyke brown This is an early photographic printing process. The process was so named due to the similarity of the print color to that of a brown oil paint named for Flemish painter Van Dyck. 2.Cyanotype This is a photographic printing process that renders a cyan-blue print. The process was popular in engineering circles well into the 20th century. 3.Gum Bichromates This is a 19th century photographic printing process based on the light sensitivity of dichromates. It is capable of rendering painterly images from photographic negatives. 4.Salt Prints The salt print was the dominant paper-based photographic process for producing positive prints during the period 1839 through 1860. 5.Albumen prints The albumen print was invented in 1850 and was the first commercially exploitable method of producing a photographic print on a paper base from a negative. It used the albumen found in egg whites to bind the photographic chemicals to the paper and became the dominant form of photographic positives from 1855 to the turn of the 20th century, with a peak in the 1860-90 periods. Schedule: 1st to 15th November 2014 Cost of the residency: 1000$ (USD) Part Fee Waiver Scholarships 550$ (USD) (Selected Artist has to pay 450$ as the residency fee) The Cost Includes: • A workshop for any one of the chosen alternative photography process. Re: [Goanet] business of medicine, Goa style
A response from my friend Savio Figueiredo who can be contacted on rendeep1 at yahoo dot com - I do not wish to get personal. I googled Mr Roland Francis and have noted that he is based in Toronto Canada.I dont know whether he is from the Pharma field . On the other hand I am a Pharmacy Graduate and have worked in Pharma industry in Goa in the manufacturing , Materials- Purchase, Logistics and now Retail Pharmacy for more than 29 years. I have worked in Managerial positions in the CMM Group of Companies German Remedies Ltd.and have been associated with M/s Unichem Laboratories Ltd. Just because we are employees of the company does not mean that they have purchased our souls. Please note that we are possibly talking about life saving medicines and it would be a criminal act to play with the lives of patients. During my time I have been witness to batches worth lacs of rupees being trashed as they did not meet standards. I have known the QC Pharmacists stand their ground about the quality of the raw materials final products. India produces the best cheapest medicines in the whole world. Why on earth would someone wish to bring in medicines in container loads and sell them cheap in Goa ? This may have been happening 40 years back when there was no manufacturing base in Goa India Today I can proudly state that the availability of spurious, duplicate or mis-branded products at the pharmacy level in Goa is almost zero and the FDA in Goa is one of the most honest Departments in Goa as well as India and this has been so over the last 25 years more due to honest leadership of the Directors. To say that everything is hunky dory ofcourse would mean that either I am naive or a fool with no idea about what goes in the Pharma Industry. I cannot speak for Government tendered medicines or vouch for their quality. There are many issues such as homeopaths ayurveds quacks prescribing allopathic medicines left right centre under the nose of the MCI , setting between physicians pharmaceutical companies which results in unnecessary medicines being prescribed to the patients in private public domains, over-presription of antibiotics by GP's who do not have the right the knowledge to prescribe them, prescription of new molecules without follow up etc which needs to be exposed and will be. Famed entertainer passes... [image: Bottom Line Publications] What Might Have Helped Joan Rivers How to Protect Yourself When You Have Outpatient Surgery Was it the *outpatient* surgery that did it? We send our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Joan Rivers, legendary comedienne who touched our hearts and made us laugh for nearly half a century. Her death at the age of 81 was announced today http://links.boardroom.mkt4711.com/ctt?kn=4ms=NDY5MDA5NDAS1r=NTE4NTUwODgyNjgS1b=0j=NTIwNTIxNTY2S0mt=1rt=0 . We don't know the details of what happened during the endoscopic procedure that ultimately led to Ms. Rivers' cardiac arrest and death. Normally such procedures have a low risk for complications. However, even though it may seem less serious than surgery done in a hospital, outpatient surgery itself is not to be undertaken lightly. You can and should take steps to protect yourself, both before and after outpatient surgery. Don't rely only on your doctors to keep you safe. On Sep 5, 2014, at 2:50 AM, Savio Figueiredo wrote via Cecil Pinto (1) India produces the best cheapest medicines in the whole world. (2) Why on earth would someone wish to bring in medicines in container loads and sell them cheap in Goa ? (3) This may have been happening 40 years back when there was no manufacturing base in Goa India (4) Today I can proudly state that the availability of spurious, duplicate or mis-branded products at the pharmacy level in Goa is almost zero and (5) the FDA in Goa is one of the most honest Departments in Goa as well as India (6) and this has been so over the last 25 years more due to honest leadership of the Directors. (7) To say that everything is hunky dory of course would mean that either I am naive or a fool with no idea about what goes in the Pharma Industry Dear Savio, Thank you for your post. I am absolutely delighted that you (like me) believe that Goans are very honest professionals, esp in comparison to their counterparts on the rest of the subcontinent. The points in your post, however, are in stark contrast to those made by Shiv Kumar, an individual I have come to e-trust over the past several years. A couple of queries, one to Shiv and one to You (Savio) SHIV, the statements you have made with regard to the Faking of Audits and the Untested medications being provided to ( and possibly being dispensed by ) the Specialist doctors, raise potentially Criminal issues. I wonder if you have any VERIFIABLE evidence of wrong doing or if you are merely relying on hearsay. IF you have the verifiable evidence, what have you done with it? SAVIO, while I know that medicines manufactured in China and India are among the least expensive ones, could you guide us to the protocol / study you utilised to conclude that India produces the best medicines in the whole world? jc
[Goanet] Thanks Goanet...Kadambas the royals of south India, our proud heritage, the secrets of Velliapura
I am following this interesting research right from Mr. Vishnu Wagh roar in the Goa Legislative Assembly. The Roque Santan story of bravery and patriotism always fascinated me from my young age. My grand mother was the daughter of Velim, She always told us the reason why the Velim Church is named after St Francis Xavier was, as a Jesuit priest Padre Francis Xavier first came to Velim with his ship and docked at Kadamba Kutband harbour and lived here in Velim for a while but his meditation was disturbed by the banging sounds of his neighours, blacksmiths so he moved away to old Goa. There is a mention in Goanet research of blacksmith families bringing and hiding the young grieving Queen Vemoma Devi to Vellipur in 1345 Goapatnam massacre. There is also the proof that the Vellipur royal family was already converted to Nazarini christinity (malakar) in 1400’s and could be therefore encouraged conversions of Goans too here in Sasti. According to Inscriptions the Vellipur/Haliyal royal timber connection with Goan warlord Thimoya brought Portuguese to Goa. So also in the new release of Kadamba disciples Mr.Upadia and Mr.Nilkanthsa that Jesuit Priests first came to Vellipur before the process of conversion of ancient Goans. Re: [Goanet] DKA's LITERARY CRITICISM
Is Yatra a Konkani word? Kindly desist from coining new words for Konkani. Hope DKA and all otherwise take note. Thanking you, Yours in service of Konkani, (Vincy Quadros) Secretary, Dalgado Konknni Akademi 9822587498 *DKA HELD ITS LITERARY CRITICISM* Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) recently held its ‘Obheas Yatra’ programme where promising Konkani writer Menino Almeida’s short story book, *Bandpas* was critically appreciated. Held on 27.08.2014, this was the first programme to be organized in the Conference Hall of the new premises of DKA at Old Education Bldg, Panjim. Fr. Jose Silveira, Assistant Director of Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr who was the key-note speaker spoke on the essentials of story and writing skills while dwelling on Menino’s book. Without going into the shortcomings, Fr. Silveira instead focused on how Menino’s stories could have been polished. Established Konkani writers Mathew D’ Costa, Vincy Quadros, Anthony Miranda, Vassalo Carvalho, Premanand Lotlikar and Rena D’Souza took part in the open session. Also making their debut appearance in DKA’s literary criticism programme were Sonia Gomes, Senisha D’Costa and Snable Antao, all student writers from Carmel College, Nuvem who also provided valuable inputs on Menino’s book. Later, author of the book, Menino Almeida answered the questions fielded to him and also accepted some of the suggestions made. He affirmed that all his stories were based on real-life incidents, many of which he personally experienced in the confines of his surroundings. Vincy Quadros also highlighted the importance of preface, foreword, writer’s thoughts, format of the book, cover, printing, type-setting and other inputs which go a long way to enhance the quality of a book. ** Please Note : Photograph is attached -- *Vincy Quadros* *Chittnis* *Dalgado Konknni Akademi* *91 9822587498 (m) ; **(0832) 2746025 * -- गसपर http://www.live365.com/stations/61664 Goa's first and only Konkani music station online, brought to you by Ulysses Menezes Gaspar Almeida of www.goa-world.com based in Kuwait. http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/mini.cgi?membername=konkanisite=live365clientType=playlist=odatrack=odapos=tm=1204955962906tm=1204955991703
[Goanet] Goan Bible
Dear Tino and Mara Nazare, thank-you for your letter, it arrived yesterday. Thank-you also for the literature in Konkani and English and thank-you also for the Video CD of Jesus. I am planing to see this person tomorrow and I will give him everything you sent me. There is at the moment only 1 Indian person that is Konkani speaking, all the other Indian asylum seekers in our region speak Punjabi or Hindi. So there is no need of a mass of literature in Konkani language, since it is only 1 person. This person is already a christian, at least catholic and he has a few prayer books in Konkani but no bible. A bible in the Konkani language is nowhere available in Germany, that is the reason why I was trying to contact somebody from India via E-Mail in hopes somebody will send me a bible in this language (Konkani). I was just asking for 1 bible in Konkani for 1 asylum seeker who speaks Konkani and not Punjabi. Otherwise I would have provided him with a bible in Punjabi, since they are limited available in Germany, but unfortunately no Konkani bibles. Until now I've met only 1 Indian asylum seeker family, but they speak Punjabi. Most of the immigrants from India are single young men without family - and they speak Punjabi or Hindi and literature in this languages and bibles are available in few numbers here in Germany. Kind regards Karin Seeger

QUOTE Thank you for your post. I am absolutely delighted that you (like me) believe that Goans are very honest professionals, esp in comparison to their counterparts on the rest of the subcontinent. UNQUOTE ..Josebab Colaco Please see Josebab's post appended below for the entire context. Contrary to Josebab's claim above, Savio has not stated that he believes that Goans are very honest professionals, especially in comparison to their counterparts on the rest of the subcontinent. In other words, this beliefs is Josebab's alone, at least in the present context. If Josebab or anybody else has verifiable evidence that Goan professionals are more honest per capita of population than their counterparts based on some characteristic such as race, ethnicity, religion, language, culture, etc, then it would be instructive if they could present it here. SAVIO, while I know that medicines manufactured in China and India are among the least expensive ones, could you guide us to the protocol / study you utilised to conclude that India produces the best medicines in the whole world? jc
