[Goanet] Global Goan Convention - London - July 2011

2011-07-09 Thread jane gillian rodrigues

Dear Goankars,

I have recently started going every month to Goa and am very impressed with all
the seminars on various topics like womens rights, garbage, hands-on cleaning
of garbage, the propogation of Konkani language and culture and music, all this
by local Goans in Goa.

Infact, I was happy to attend a womens seminar on the occassion of
International womens day and various other seminars at ICG, Goa.

A lot of wonderful events , infact mega-events are taking place in
Goa.I am happy and pleased to meet local goans, who are organising gospel rock
concerts for the youth of goa, as well as pleased to see youth present in large
numbers at all these events.

Goans shd stop selling their properties and the Goa govtmt shd make a a viable
option for goans to return to their roots.

Subject: [Goanet] Global Goan Convention - London - July 2011

(Opportunityor Waste?)

Message-ID:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Today Goa is attacked on various fronts with respect to its Land,

Environment, Culture Identity. The critical reasons are Excessive/Illegal

Mining, Rampant/Illegal Hill Cutting, Encouraged Migrant vote banks and

un-controlled migration into Goa, Very high Level of corruption, Faulty

Employment policies forcing Goans to migrate, Mega Projects which do

not favor Goans, Garbage/Sewage crisis, Illegal land conversions favoring

the real estate lobby, Drug Menace etc. All of the these are facilitated

by Powerful Mining Companies, Real Estate Lobby, Land Sharks, Powerful

National Politicians/Companies who use their Goan Politicians as their

agents; and last but not least the Excessively Corrupt Goan Politicians

themselves.

I had initially hoped that these Global Conventions would bring Goans

together, to address the critical issues and facilitate some progress. I

have attended Conventions in Goa (Jan 2007) and Oman (2009) and am very

disappointed that there has been no significant action/progress for Goa. My

criticism to be clear is not on the organizers, like for example the Muscat

Goans who organized a good event but my criticism is on the overall purpose

of having these conventions. Whilst yes in the last two conventions i.e.

Oman and Kuwait, there were speakers for Goa and Its Identity however the

sad part is that our corrupt government has ignored these pleas, as it would

stop the sources of illegitimate income.

political parties, if as alleged, they r responsible for the attacks on
the Christian community, although in some instances, it was people of
other religious communities who have also attacked christians, but this
has never been highlighted.

(2) Has it ever been ascertained,by the Catholic Church, whether it is
a fact, that certain people belonging to some obscure christian sects
are indulging in conversions?

(3) since the catholic lay leaders have not vociferously made a demand
for reservations for the christian community,as per Mandal commission
in govtmt jobs and govtmt educational institutions, hence when
christians get attacked, there is no Christian, in the government that
can help them.

(4) When I have made a request to Priests and catholic lay leaders to
help the poor catholics for finance for medical emergencies,ill-
heaqlth, they flatly refuse to help, instead, finance is willingly
given to the Missions.Y Y Do the christians who have had
ancestors for over 100 yrs, who have all been practising our faith,
not deserve the largesse of the Church? This is one of themajor reasons
for migration of Catholics from India to foreign countries,m as well as
Catholics leaving the Church to join Christians sects that help them,
in every way they can.

48-HOUR DEADLINE UPSETS COMMUNITY
Fresh demolition notices on crosses
TIMES NEWS NETWORK
Mumbai: Fresh demolition notices pasted by the BMC on several crosses
across the city on Saturday drew a sharp reaction from the Christian
community.Around 400 Bandra residents gathered on Chapel Road in Bandra
(W) in the evening to protest against the notices, prompting cops to
rush there.
The notices are part of the ongoing BMC drive against illegal places of
worship, including temples and mosques. The show-cause notices are being
sent to 729 illegal shrines which are obstructing projects like road-
widening or affect vehicular traffic or are located on public land. They
will be demolished, said a senior civic official. He added that
structures built before 1964 (the cutoff year for such structures)
would not be touched. The caretaker or owner of the religious structure
would have to submit related documents to the ward office concerned, he
added.
Members of the Christian community said that the crosses were historic
and relevant documents had been submitted in 2003 when the issue came
up for the first time. They added that giving them only 48 hours to
respond was unjust. These 48 hours will be up on Monday morning. We cant
present our case afresh in this time frame, said advocate Godfrey
Pimenta,vice-president of Bombay East Indian Association.
The drive comes after the Supreme Court issued directives in an interim
order on December 7,2009.The state government,on October 4,2010,issued
a notification asking all municipal bodies to take action on illegal
shrines and submit a compliance report. The BMC began its action in
November 2010 by conducting a ward-wise survey of illegal shrines. The
survey is now completed and the number of such shrines is fixed at 729.
Gordon DSouza, president of the Bombay Catholic Sabha, said,Some of the
crosses even have marble inscriptions and date back to 1915 or
1916.These were built to safeguard the villages from plague.
Father Warner DSouza, assistant parish priest of Bandras Mount Carmel
Church said the BMC wouldnt be allowed to touch the crosses. It should
have first looked at the documents we submitted. We will meet
corporators and BMC officials on Monday and seek an apology, he said.

=
We have received news that two more crosses were demolished on D'Lima
Street at Byculla in addition to the one demolished at Hathibaug,
Lovelane, Mazgaon by the BMC. Christians are extremely hurt that this
has been done despite the promise of four weeks extended time, for
submitting records, given to the Bombay Catholic Sabha delegation
together with others that met the Minister for Minorities Affairs and
the Chief Minister on March 1, 2011 .

The Bombay Catholic Sabha urges one and all to attend the meeting that
has been arranged at Cross Maidan on March 4, 2011 at 5.00pm. Cardinal
Oswald Gracias will address. Let us pray to save our Crosses. Let us
pray for peace.
All caretakers of Crosses that are served notices of demolition are
requested to submit proofs of the existence of the Crosses prior to
1964 as soon as possible. The CM is said to have granted an extension
of 15 days for furnishing proofs of the Crosses being prior to 1964.

Subject: [Goanet] A Letter To The Bleddy Goans...

Message-ID:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

Rajesh Dessai obviously did not get the point of my response to

Godfrey's article. I am not about to educate Rajesh but just let it be

said that if I had decided on a 'tit for tat' response Godfrey and the

East Indians would be laughing stock for a long time. But what would

that achieve?

Many of the points Godfrey raised are very valid. I did not shoot the

messenger. I questioned his credentials to criticise and his methods.

Rajesh goes further to say I have just one question to ask Cecil:

What have you done to save Goa?

Interesting question. I agree that I haven't done much to save Goa.

But I live a pretty 'open' life and speak my mind when required

against forces that are determined to destroy various aspects of our

Goa. Most everyone knows who I am, where I come from, and what I am

about. But agreed there's precious little that I actually do to save

Goa.

Now your turn Rajesh, since you asked the question. Who are you, and

what have you done to save Goa?

Cheers!

Cecil

[Goanet] Tao Meditation camp in Mumbai - Pls register

2010-03-26 Thread jane gillian rodrigues
My dear E-mail friends and family,

As many of you know, my Dad, was my best friend. I could call him up, any time
of the day or night, in India or abroad and talk to him or argue with him or
ask for advice or just... chat.

I always thought my Dad was going to live forever, so when he passed away, I
was deeply upset and did not know how to deal with this huge loss. It was at
this time, that a friend of mine asked me to attend the 2-day Tao meditation
camp, with her, where I met the wonderful Emily Voon.

The Tao meditation camp helped me a great deal, to cope with the loss of my
Dad, and definitely made my life a whole lot better, for which I am very
grateful to Emily Voon and her team.

After many, many years, a week back, I suddenly received a telephone call from
Emily Voon, asking if she and her team could meet Dr. Peter Rodrigues and
myself and I readily agreed. When we met, Emily and I both felt we were like
lost sisters meeting again.

Emily has given me details of the forthcomming Tao meditation Camp to be held
in September, details of which I give below:-

Date: (1) 18th 19th September, 2010 - (MUMBAI)
  (2) 25th 26th September, 2010 - Satara, Maharashtra

Address: (A)MUMBAI - Row House no. F25, Sector 6, Vashi, Navi Mumbai - 400 703,
India.
(B) NEW DELHI - A-29, Second Floor, Lajpatnagar II, New Delhi - 110 024, India.

+91-9004136368 (KEITH LIM)

Please e-mail - Emily Voon / Lim Say Kiat / Paul Seah / Su Chin Lim and get
yourself registered for the Tao meditation camp, if you want to change your
life, change your destiny and re-discover your true self. As you know, Tao is a
way of life, order of nature.

E-mail - (1)lim say kiat - m...@brunet.bn, (2)Paul Seah -paulseah...@gmail.com,
(3)Su Chin Lim - serenity...@hotmail.com
(4)Emily Voon - emily.v...@gmail.com

There are no charges for this camp, but I am sure, it will help you a great
deal, as it helped me. The Camp is open to women, men and children of all
age-groups.

Emily and her team can organise a Tao camp anywhere around the world or in
India.

After you finish reading this e-mail, phone/sms/e-mail your Dad and tell him
you love him, because one morning you'll wake up and yr Dad won't be around.

Regards and best wishes,

Jane

Dear Emily,

Thanks for yr e-mail. I was just abt to circulate an e-mail about you and the
Tao group to my friends and family.

We seem to remember each other at the same time. ESP?

2010-03-25 Thread jane gillian rodrigues
My dear E-mail Friends and Family, All women and girls,

On the 23/3/10, at around 1.30pm, I went to meet Dr. Peter Rodrigues at his
office at Bandra, as I wanted to discuss a matter of importance with him.

Dr. Peters asstt. informed me that he had not yet reached the clinic and asked
me to wait, but as I had a lot of my own work to do, I was about to walk out of
the clinic, when I noticed this young guy with a colourful bandana around his
head, long curly hair and a rosary around his neck, dressed exactly like my son
Victor. He looked very peaceful and content with life, which surprised me,
because guys this age are always troubled about their future career, but not
this guy. After the usual questions, I found out, he is a very talented, young
musician named Naveen J. Anthraper.

Naveen needs a standing ovation, because not only is he a musician, he also has
his own band and is a song-writer too. He gifted me a CD of his Music Video
and the song is LONELY IM CRYING. This song in English is a very beautiful
song. The word have been written by a friend of his and Naveen himself, has
sung the vocals, played the guitar, composed the music, and produced the music
video. He is also a very polite, well-mannered, respectful young guy. He does
not smoke.

Lonely Im crying is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard this year.
Naveen has got a wonderful, pure, melodious, clear voice. I truly loved and
enjoyed hearing and watching the video of this song.

If you would like to book Naveen and his band in Mumbai, India or Abroad,or,
just listen to Naveens music video, please contact him on/log on to:-

Naveen works out at the same Gym as my youngest son Ryan, so girls, Ladies, if
you want to meet Naveen. get to the gym.

E-mail Naveen, if you like his song or, want to buy his CD.

IF ANY OF YOU HAVE SUNG/COMPOSED ANY GOSPEL SONGS OR ANY OTHER, PLEASE SEND ME
THE CD WITH YOUR CONTACT DETAILS AND I WILL FORWARD TO ALL MY FRIENDS.

Regards and best wishes,

Jane Rodrigues

cc: Naveen - Tks for the gift of this beautiful song. God Bless You. I wish
you all the very best in all your future endeavours. I do hope you will perform
this song at the YWCA on Saturday, 27/3/10. You will be a BIG hit with the
young girls attending the programme.

The Catholic Church in India, should take an immediate decision to totally stop
the filming of advertisements and bollywood and hollywood movies near or within
the premises of its Catholic schools, colleges and churches, instead of
stopping only tourists or visitors from clicking photos, if they are so worried
about security.

ome body should take the initiative to prevail on the Bom Jesus Basilica
authorities to change the wording of the notice board displayed in the
picture to
'DO NOT' instead of 'DONT'
Such careless/crude wordings in a place such as Bon Jesus Basilica does not
go well with Goa and Goans.
Also, the word 'PLEASE' is conspicuous by its absence for a place of God.
Looks like the ASI is in command here instead of the Church authorities
Just my thoughts

[Goanet] donations to church

2009-11-07 Thread jane gillian rodrigues
Dear Goankars,

(1) Always pay the parish priest by cheque or ask for a receipt, if he asks
asks you for a donation to film the Church.

(2) Ask the Parish priest if you can click his photographs too, so that his
parishioners in your state or country, can know who he is and send him
donations directly. Take the pvt mo. no. and pvt bank a/c no., of the parsh
priest, and inform him, you wil give it to rich catholics in your area, this
will motivate him to give you access to the whole church and he will also
invite you for lunch and then fondly wave you goodbye and ask you to visit
again.

[Goanet] job reservations

2009-10-29 Thread jane gillian rodrigues
Dear Goankars,

As per e-mail of Arwin below, I would like to add to what he has written below:-

(1) A parish priest in Goa, refused to let his catholic parishioner, a 24-year
old goan residing in goa, check the records of his parents marriage which was
written in portugese in the church register, nor would he let this boy have a
copy of his parents marriage details which were written in portugese, so that
he could make a portugese passport, instead he gave the information in English.

(2) This same goan boy has informed me that for a govtmt job in goa RTO - the
bribe is advance payment of Rs. 12 lakhs.

(3) Govtmt job in Goa police Rs. 15 lakhs, advance payment.

(4) Allegedly, only goan ministers are allowed to distribute quota of govt
jobs in reserved and general category, at a price.

(5) Goans can get SC/ST/OBC certificates for govtmt jobs and admission into
govtmt educational institutions, but even in Goa there is a price for such
certificates.

Yes, therefore local Goans are forced to do menial, low-income jobs in Goa, or
migrate to foreign countries.

I hope someone on this website can prove me wrong, and instead, inform me the
name and address where local goans can apply for govtmt jobs.

*No jobs for Goans
R Fernandes, Margao
*The arrest of the customs employee from Vasco for duping Goans of 8 crores
under the garb of providing them jobs at the Dabolim airport helps us to
draw some inferences:
1. Goans are willing to work here in Goa and not just waiting to go abroad
as some like to project.
2. Goans cannot get jobs in Goa without paying all and sundry.
3. Goans cannot get jobs in Goa even after paying all and sundry.
4. Ministers don?t care about giving jobs to Goans. So there are no Goans in
the Konkan Railway, Airport Authority, Meteorological Dept., Railways, etc.
5. Goans do not get jobs in the reserved category too. Who bags these jobs?

[Goanet] BJP still popular. BJP NOT losing the Plot

2009-10-25 Thread jane gillian rodrigues
Dear Goankars,

This has reference to e-mails below, of Sandeep and Nascy.

Congratulations to both of them, for expressing their views.

I just want to know from all of you, whether any of you, read any mail by Nascy
on this website, condemning the citizens of her country who were torturing our
innocent Indian students in Australia?

When I was being harassed on two occassions in Mumbai, I am happy to inform you
that all the local politicians, including the BJP/Shivsena saw to it, that the
harrassment of women in our locality was stopped. In future, I will appeal to
Nascy and her friends for help.

The very fact that BJP and Shivsena candidates have won seats, in the recent
Assembly elections have proved that Maharashtrians of all caste, creed and
religions have supported them.

India is one of the only countries in the whole world, which consists of many
religions, many languages, many states, numerous political parties, etc. and
yet we have already celebrated our 60 years of Independence.

A catholic priest, Fr. Peter told me 15 years ago, that God loves and preserves
India and I am sure we all agree.

India can boast of Madame Indira Gandhi(ex-PM), Madame Pratibha
Patil(President), Madame Mayawat(CM), etc. I want to know what can Nascy boast
of, apart from civilized, educated, so-called, cultured Australians attacking
our Indian youth in Australia? Even the USA, has never elected a female
President.

Our Indian culture has always taught us, to give people a second chance, and I
am sure, that all elected candidates, of all political parties of all
religions, will work together to promote our Indian culture of tolerance and
love for all and upliftment of the underprivilged.

A hot cup of chai(tea) and cheers to all of you,

Dear Goankars,

I thank Naquesh Bhatcar, for taking the trouble to reply to my e-mail.

He has asked me a whole lot of questions about Goa, made a lot of negative
statements about Goa,and then, replied to them himself, with his
statement,(which he has borrowed from my e-mail)- Goans, go all over the world
in search, of a better life. It is unfortunate, what it happened to Joe

I do hope Naquesh and others residing in the USA, will see that help is given

My dear Goankars,

As I keep telling you'll, my mother is a Cancer survivor for the last 26 years
and has been living in Goa for the last 10 years. She was operated upon for
Cancer of the Uterus by Dr. Lusito in Mumbai.

My dad worked for a multinational co. that paid the hospital bill, medication
and all treatment for my mum. After Dad retired, my brothers have been paying
for mum's treatment.

Mum still visits Tata hospital till date, for her annual Cancer check-ups, and
her daily diet includes lots of vitamins, fresh vegetables and fruits, grown in
her own garden, lots of liquids e.g. milk and tea brewed with lemon grass
leaves (also home-grown)etc. and lives in the beautiful clean and green Goa.

Always eat freshly cooked food daily.

My mother has always been slim and thin, and only 45kgs in weight throughout
her life, till date, although she eats butter, cheeze, eggs etc. and loves
eating food, cooked in oil.

My mother has never been able to get along with house maids (she would always
find fault with their work)and hence, has always used all the latest gadgets
for her housework and cooking.

She does her own shopping and marketing.

Please get yourselves checked annually, for cancer after the age of 30yrs.

The moment your Cancer surgeon confirms, you have cancer, get operated within
48hrs. Get chemotherapy/radiation etc. done immediately. Never waste time.

If you are a Christian, approach the Church, of which you are a parishioner and
they will immediately, help you with funds for the cancer/or any other
operation, provided you furnish the parish priest/pastor the necessary
documents to support your claim.

I remember an actor in a Merchant-Ivory movie, who said Death is like going to
the toilet, when you have to go, you go.

Dear Goankars,gdefigueir...@yahoo.com.au, elvi...@alghanim.com

Thanks to Elvino for replying to my e-mail.

As per e-mail of Gabriel, all of us are aware of the poverty prevailing in
Australia, which is why the Aussie youth are attacking and robbing our rich
Indian students studying in their country.

After reading what Gabriel has written below, I can't believe that the British
ruled the world, especially when they behave like donkeys today.

I hope Gabriel is not going to tell us he sold his ancestral home in India and
used INR to buy property in UK.

Gabriel sure is a magician, first an Indian pasport, then Portugese
passport.WOW!!!

Not happy in UK, then ran to Australia, which countrynext?

Australia is still hard-up for cash, which is why even today, I have been
informed, that, if you can assure them of yr huge financial assets in India,
you get direct entry into Australia.

Could someone tell me the price of land in Melbourne in INR?

IN ROME DO AS THE ROMANS DO.

If Gabriel is happy in Australia, I am sure all of us on Goanet are happy for
him.

Tonight, please joi me in praying for all our Indian freedom fighters who
liberated us from the British.

Lets focus on the main issue, which is that Goa has to take all precautions to
ensure the security of its citizens and we must not interfere, but help them in
their endeavours.

I have been following many of the posts for quite some time, especially the
arguments that Ex Goans in UK used to put forward, saying, they have bought
houses, property in UK and therefore it is justifiable and should be allowed

My reply to e-mail below:-(1)When buying in the Company name, should company be
of foreign origin or have an Indian partner or wholly owned by Indians?

(2)The female friend, may have been of Indian origin, but now is a British
citizen, so under what laws of the state of Goa, prevalent at the time of
purchase, was this British woman allowed to buy property in Goa?

(3)The period of lease prevalent at the time of purchase by British
nationals, was for how many years?

(4)What is meant by the wordsThose Goans/Indians having foreign passports. I
presumed, that once you become a citizen of a foreign country, you can no more
be called Indian or Goan, you are henceforth known as Britisher or American,
not Goan or Indian.

(5)The words unscruplous lawyers/builders who are taking people

(6)The words titles are not clearbuyers also are gulliable and

what I know in point form.

1. Any foreigner who wants to buy property in Goa, cannot do so, u nless he
buys in the company name.

2. A couple friends of mine, both with British passports. She of Indian
origin with an OCI card, he a white British with a PIO card have bought a
place in Goa in her name. All very legal.

3. A lot of foreigners have bought places but not signed a 'sale deed' ,
but a 'lease' which means they are not the owners of the property, mainly
flats. These flats were sold by Catholic builders.

4. Those Goans/Indians having foreign passports have now to produce an OCI
card if they want to sell their ancestral property in Goa. This has come
into effect sometime last year.

5. There are a lot of unscruplous lawyers/builders who are taking people
for a ride.

6. Sometimes the titles are not clear especially in Form 1 to IV, and yet
sellers are selling properties to people. The buyers also are gulliable and
are not verifying the papers.

Most of my foreign friends have bought houses/flats legitimally.

Treatment of British families in Goa.

Dear Goankars,

For my own personal information, could someone on Goanet, please let me know:-

(1) What legal documents, are required for foreigners to buy property in Goa?

(2)In which state of India, or, country around the world, can foreigners,
especially these British families be allowed to buy properties?

(3) Why do the Brits want to buy property in Goa, while Goans throughout the
world are not interested??

Regards

For the first time I agree with F.N. (Fredrick Noronha)
that nobody cares about the indigenous Goans who
cannot afford to buy their own homes in Goa.

Unbelievable but true - we have no idea of what goes on in Pakistan and we
really do
need to pray for our Christian brethren there - they are a minority and have
very little on their side.

Dear Friends,

We need your prayers for these faithful people.

A decade of your Rosary, A Mass , any other form of mortification or
sacrifice, prayers / penance, for the faithful in Pakistan . Please pass  on
this message to your family, friends so that prayers be offered for  this
 cause.

They are taking a bullet for Christ. Can't we offer a Mass? Rosary for  them?

 God Bless,
 Fr.. Osie Dsouza .

KARACHICHRISTIANS LOCKING THEMSELVES IN HOMES

 May 04, 2009

Christian families in Karachi , Pakistan are locking themselves in their  own
homes following escalating violence against them in recent weeks,  Catholic
Mission Pakistan director, Fr Mario Rodrigues has said. Last  week, six
families' homes were burned to the ground, along with shops,  and a number of
churches in the locale of Taiser Town , Karachi ,  Catholic Mission Australia
reports.

Describing the violence, Fr Rodrigues said the perpetrators had  misbehaved
with the women and asked them to accept Islam otherwise they  will kill them.
They burnt the Holy Bibles and the worst, they have  killed people (when) a
group of 35 to 40 men armed with AK47, TT  pistols, repeaters, and rifles and
fired indiscriminately at the Christian community, Fr Rodrigues said.

Prior to the violence, vandals had left messages on the Church walls  which
included - Long Live the Taliban and Long Live Al Qaeda. Women were beaten
on the streets  and dragged by their hair, and many people were injured, Fr
Rodrigues reported.

An 11 year old boy was killed, after being shot in the head. He died  days
later in hospital. Police reportedly recovered an arms cache of
semi-automatic pistols and a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Martin Teulan, National Director of Catholic Mission Australia said he  was
surprised by the lack of coverage and shocked by the turmoil of not  only
properties destroyed, but lives lost. This is shocking news, and  our prayers
are with Fr Rodrigues and all the people affected by this  senseless
violence, Mr Teulan said.

We must be mindful of this as a sad reality for many people around the
world, living with daily threats, not only to their livelihood, but to their
lives. We call for  Australians to gather in prayer for our friends in
Pakistan , and particularly for those who have lost loved ones.

The Pakistani Government advised the National Assembly earlier this  month
that 1,400 people have been killed in terrorist attacks in the last 15 months
in this area.

Fr Rodrigues pleads with us: So this is a request to stay in prayer at  your
own homes. I believe that God will listen and he will not bring us  to the
test.

Martin Teulan is calling for all Australians to be prayerful for the  people
of Pakistan . This follows reports from Fr. Emmanuel Yousaf Mani,  Director of
the National Justice and Peace Commission of the Pakistani  Bishop's
Conference who also visited the areas affected by the violence.

Fr Emmanuel encouraged the community not to lose hope and to continue in
constant prayer, without responding to the violence with violence. The
people, he says are mainly poor families, the working class and farmers  who
lead a simple and tranquil life.

1ST COCHLEAR IMPLANT PERFORMED AT HOLY FAMILY HOSPITAL, MUMBAI

Six year old Rohan Doiphode, had never experienced the joy of hearing sounds.
The boy, the son of a poor watchman, may soon realize his dreams of hearing for
the first time, as a cochlear implant surgery was performed on him, at The Holy
Family Hospital, Bandra(W), Mumbai, the first surgery if its kind, at the
hospital.

A cochlear implant is a device, which directly stimulates the cochlear nerve,
and is implanted in patients who have profound hearing loss, and get no benefit
from the use of hearing aids.

Very few Centres/Hospitals in India perform cochlear implantation.

The entire cost of the implant was borne by numerous, generous donors, for the
grateful boy.

The team of  ENT surgeons, of the Hospital, Dr. Chris de Souza, Dr. J. Peter
Rodrigues) SON OF DR. FRANK RODRIGUES AND MADAME MARIA RODRIGUES OF TIVIM
VILLAGE, GOA), Dr. D. M. Borkar, performed the surgery, absolutely free of cost.

Audiologists, Sneha Satum, Arti Arora and Nizam did the pre-operative
assessment and will do the  post-operative rehabilitation, selflessly.

Expert child anaesthetist, Dr. Salyankar conducted the difficult procedure very
smoothly.

Eminent ENT surgeon, Dr. Milind Kirtane, guided the team, during the surgical
precedure.

Sister Acquinas, and Dr. Shenoy, Directors of the Hospital, extended all their
support, and co-operation for this project.

Dr. Victor Rodrigues, well-known dental surgeon, was instrumental in arranging
part of the funds required.

[Goanet] youth camp for girls 15yrs to 30yrs

2009-05-05 Thread jane gillian rodrigues
My dear Friends,

PLEASE FORWARD. PLEASE ATTEND.

PIYA COMMITTEE (PARTICIPATION AND INVOLVEMENT OF YOUTH FOR ACTION) YWCA,
Mumbai, invites young women, aged 15 years to 30years of all religious
communities to a Youth Empowerment Camp 2009, THEME “ Born Equal”, on
Saturday, 16th May, 2009 and Sunday, 17th May, 2009.

PIYA trains youth to plan plenty of easy, fun and creative individual and group
activities, to make the most of their youth and bring good ideas and also a
sense of ownership, and will teach them responsibility and respect.

Youth are encouraged to use excess energy productively by educational outings
like visits to see personally, the work of NGOs carried out in Mumbai. Many
NGOs have been set up in a particular neighbourhood as they have specific
programmes to meet the needs of a particular area. This way the youth can have
a day of fun while nurturing and stimulating their young minds.

YWCA provides many opportunities for youth to explore their abilities and
further develop their talents.

Future programmes of PIYA committee will be :- (1) Medical check-up camp for
in-mates of Byculla jail for women and children (2) Inter-collegiate Poster,

training workshops and (5) A Peace conference Seminar.

The following are the words of the late Madame Susan Mathai :-
Our experience as a YWCA movement which has worked in the voluntary sector for
over one hundred years leads us to believe that volunteerism has an important
role in building civil society. The challenge today is to mobilize like-minded
people to play an effective role in working for a society that is just and
humane and upholds democratic values. In the social, economic, political and
communal upheavals of the times, there is need for people with vision to work
for the transformation of society.

[Goanet] why good people never get elected

2009-05-03 Thread jane gillian rodrigues

The main reason why good people do not get elected is because, the educated,
good people staying in buildings and bungalows do not come out to vote as they
are - VERY BUSY - R..E..L..A..X..I..N..G and c..h..i..l..l..i..n..g = 55% and
the balance good people staying in zopaddpattis, chawl, slums - will go and
VOTE for the candidate who has kept her/his promises to them.

[Goanet] cancer free for the last 25 years

2009-05-02 Thread jane gillian rodrigues
Dear Goarkars,(icso...@bsnl.in,chimbel...@yahoo.com)

Years ago, my mother used to watch DOORDARSHAN programmes every evening and the
messages that were constantly flashed on screen were :-
(1) hum Do Hamare Do and (2) strict warning to get an annual cancer check-up.

My mother strictly followed the 2nd message and would go for her annual cancer

Dear goankars,

As per e-mails below on the topic Religion and Science: -

Please remember that in India, 60% of families, earn a total wage of
approximately Rs. 2,000/- per month. Hence, the majority of Indians, when they
fall sick, cannot afford expensive, allopathic drugs and therefore, have to
take homeopathic, ayurvedic, herbal, etc. medicine which is less expensive.

Yes, when all else fails, we pray to God for a miracle cure, and God always
hears our prayers and cures us.

Today any branch of medicine is encouraged to cure, mind, body, soul.

We Indians are truly lucky and blessed, because we have friends and relatives
of different religious beliefs who will pray for our good health, when we fall
sick.

A Catholic priest once said to me God looks after India, otherwise, how can
you explain how most of our neighbouring countries are having major problems,
while India, with different states, different religions, different languages
etc. are still One India?

Your statement

my reply -
I never judge the personality/gender/figure/intelligence of a Goanetter by the
contents of her/his e-mail.

Pls read below e-mail of Soter, it is a good reply to your below, e-mail to me.

I once asked an actor, why she allowed herself to be portrayed as the raped,
tortured, molested, prostitute female in most of her films.

Her reply was, that her money-paying, audience, consisted of nearly 70% males,
(1) whose senses were titillated, 100% when women were shown getting hurt,
tortured, mutilated etc, (2) No one wanted to see a HAPPY, successful woman in
any movie, (3) It is a case of Paisa PHEKO, Tamasha Dekho.

I did tell her, that her audience may go home and re-create the scene with the
women in their house, she said - she does her roles for the money.

It is good to know you are promoting slum tourism, in Goa, like nearly every
Indian state, as this gets the tourists and funding from Western countries.

I do hope that during my lifetime, I will be able to witness Madame Mayawati
taking the oath as the PM of India.

Now enough of your anti-India, anti- Goa stance, and all your negative, moaning
and groaning, give constructive ideas on Goanet, to solve the problems of Goa.

  My dear Freddy,

As per your e-mail below :-

First and foremost let me thank you for replying to my mail, which I have not
yet read on Goanet, which means that males actualy take note of what we, women
write.

A politician recently told me, that instead of people complaining about the
type of candidates political parties, put up for elections, these so-called
goody two shoes, social activists should themselves approach the political
parties with their BIO_DATAS aND REQUEST their candidature for the comming
elections in Goa.

I am not interested in standing for elections, but if you can do a good job and
wish to clean up Goa, then please, do stand for elections on a party ticket or
otherwise, and I promise, we will all vote for you and we will wait and watch
your results.

Your statement -
FYI statistics state that one women is raped in ever 4 hrs,
one women is burnt ever 18 hrs and one women becomes a victim of domestic
violence every 10 minutes in India,

My reply - According to Your above statistics, atrocities against women have
probably taken place in your family or in your neighbourhood too, I hope you
have dealt with this problem in the best possible manner and helped them
accordingly. I applaud your efforts.

In India, if you wish to survive job recession, you need to be sc/st/obc, which
can be availed of my all religious communities except Christians, as you are
well aware, which is your reason for working in Dubai.

Your statement Your hatred for the BJP has
adversely affected you sense of sight
My reply -
From when has a simple statement of mine, that I found Goa clean and green made
you presume that I hate BJP? Some of my acquaintance, are members of the
female wing of BJP and Shivsena and would laugh at your above statement.

Your statement - Goa during
the month of May and I'll be very happy to give you a guided tour at my cost
and
show you what ground zero reality is in Goa

My reply - I have been visiting Goa, approximately, once a month for the last
27 years and have seen a change for the better in Goa and I promise to get all
my female pals to tour Goa as you have promised at your cost, the next time I
visit, if my female pals agree.

I believe, that if, in any country a woman can walk or travel alone on the road
at 12pm at night, then, that country should be declared a truly, safe country.

Now send me the data to prove, which country in the world is the safest place
for women and children, as per my statement above.

Your statement - save the poor coastal
Goans from CRZ,

My reply - Poor goans remain poor, because the rich goans sell off their
property to unscrupulous, rich non-Goans and take off with the wealth of their
Goan forefathers to foreign countries to make countries like USA, UK etc. rich.

[Goanet] government benfits for senior citizen tax-payers

2009-03-10 Thread jane gillian rodrigues
My dear Friends,

A female surgeon and her lawyer husband, both friends of mine, had dumped
their son and daughter into very expensive boarding schools and university
hostels, until their children had completed their education. Both son and
daughter, left for the US after completion of their education here, in India.
The children were never allowed to come home, even during school and college
holidays, as both parents lead a very busy working and entertaining life-style
and hence, had no time to look after their children.

When this couple retired they travelled on holidays all over the world, but
very rarely visited their children in the US.

When their children had children and asked their parents to come live with them
in the US and help them to raise their kids in the US, again, both parents,
excused themselves and said that due to their busy schedules, they were unable
to do so. When the husband fell seriously ill, in old age, this couple asked
their kids to visit, as they were missing them and desperately wanted to see
their children and grand-children.

The son refused and called me and told me, that he was now divorced, because
he had never seen or experienced the relationship between his own parents and
therefore could not cope with any marital stress. He blamed his parents for
his divorce and 0 knowledge of being a good dad and husband. The son also
told me that he would prefer his parents being dumped in an old age home.

The daughter also married said she had no time to come down to India and
baby-sit her parents.

This doctor-lawyer couple, died in an old age home, missing their beloved
children.

There are many parents who will gift their property and money, to their
favourite child, but complain and expect all their other children, who were
gifted nothing, to look after them, in their old age.

Many of us, know of a number of women, who want their sons, all to themselves,
even after their sons get married and create a ruckus in the house, and get
jealous, if their son, now devotes time to his wife and children. There are
many senior citizens who are very, very rude their their d-i-l/s-i-l,
grand-children etc., who are not their favourites.

I personally feel, we parents do not need a law forcing our children to look
after us, because, if our children see us, looking after our parents, they will
do the same for us. Senior citizens need to get a social life of their own and
not keep harassing their children. If senior citizens have saved wisely and
looked after their health, throughout their lives, they can lead a comfortable
life style even in their old age.

Mr dear Friends,

As per e-mail below, please remember, our children never asked us to give birth
to them. We have done so of our own accord.

Our duty as parents is to love our children, till we start pushing daisies,
educate them, look after them, provide for them, hopefully, even after we pass
on.

Our duty to our children never ends.

It is wrong of us, parents, to force our children to look after and provide for
us in our old age.

The problem with all parents, is that they have great expectations and hence
get upset if their children do not look after them. It is definitely not the
duty of our children to be forced to look after us in our old Age.

All Parents have paid taxes to the Government during their working life and
hence the government should proved benefits to them, as is done in most
countries abroad, e.g. Australia etc.

Please remember to do your best for your children and be happy,if they don't
dump you in the home for the aged.

A good question to ask all parents who complain about being neglected, by
their children, is whether they(the parents) looked after their own old,
parents well, or, neglected them too.

Regards

My dear Goankars,

Many senior citizens of Mumbai remember that - in the Bombay of the 60's, many
British and American clubs and Institutions in Bombay, had a notice at the
entrance stating INDIANS AND DOGS NOT ALLOWED.

In the Mumbai(Bombay) of 2009, you tell me, what would your reaction be, if
Indians are still referred to as DOGS by Britishers?

EXACTLY - WE APPLAUD, WE THALLI BAJAO and we give the British standing
ovations and awards, for STILL calling us, Indians - DOGS.

The British and Indians, have not heard OF, NOR UNDERSTOOD President Barrack
Obama's CHANGE.

AN ODE
TO THE BRAVE SOLDIERS AND POLICE AT MUMBAI on 26/11

For Our Beloved Motherland He Has Fought,
And In Return, He Received Nought.

Our Brave Hero Battles Without Respite,
Just to Save Us From A Sleepless Night.

He receives Torture No One Can Bear,
Let Us show Him That We Care.

When A Bullet Hits Him And He Hears God’s Call,
With A Smile On His Face, He Does Fall.

He Has Willingly Laid Down His Life for us,
When Only To Help Others, We Make A Big Fuss.

When His Parents Learn, Their Only Son Has Died,
They Say “It Is Alright, For India Has Survived”.

To Eternal Rest His Body Has Been Laid,
He Leaves Behind A Family That Needs Our Aid.

[Goanet] INDIANS ARE GUTLESS

2008-11-29 Thread jane gillian rodrigues
ONLY GOD KNOWS IF

(1) A country and not an organisation or single individual has funded and
trained this terrorist operation in Mumbai.

(2) who were involved in giving terrorists information or whether it was an
accident that all 3 top cops were together at the same time, when they got
shot?? was it a regular habit for these 3 cops to move around together

(3) Terrorists did not wear masks because they knew they would die.

(4)Rubber dingies were kept because someone else, probably their
leader/sponsor, had to return.

(5)all terrorists rushed to the top floors of the buildings they had captured,
so that they could do maximum damage and snipe at security, whereas no one
could snipe at them.

(6)The terrorists do not believe in keeping eggs all in one basket and hence
they scattered ammo all over the buildings.

(7)The terrorists definitely had jobs at the Taj, probably, 2/3 nos. as kitchen
staff, waiters, cleaners etc and hence learnt the lay-out of the hotel. Learn 1
floor and you know the lay-out of the hotels, including suites and roof.

(8) It is confirmed some of them also lived in the hotel rooms and hence knew
which parts of the hotels would burn easily.

(9)Setting fire was a distraction to make believe they were in that spot while
moving to another.

(10) Staff who got shot, must have been those who suddenly realized the
terrorists were co-workers or guests.

(11) Were the Head chef killed becuase he had been rude to the terrorists when
they were worked under him? or was it an accidental killing. The same can be
asked as to why room in which GM's wife and kids were, was also burnt

(12)It is very sure that people right here residing in Mumbai, have also helped
them.

(13) It is confirmed that they have also lived in Colaba.

(14)These young terrorists haVE TRAINED IN SOME COUNTRY FOR NEARLY 3 YEARS.
Some of them had a physique which proved they regularly worked out at the GYM
and hence police should ask Gyms as well as colleges and cyber cafes, or pvt
internet home providers for information on recent connections and diploma, etc.
admissions. Their fast movement prove this fact.

(15) the first initial photos of teenage terrorists showed they were either
high on alcohol or drugs.

The Indian govtmt should now insist that every hotel in India, as well as US,
French, UK and Israel embassies or centres, employ commandos, for their
protection.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE FAMILIES OF THE SECURITY PERSONNEL KILLED IN ACTION AGAINST
TERRORISTS, AS WELL AS FOR THE FAMILIES OF THE INNOCENT indians gunned down on
the streets of Mumbai.

The congress govtmt is going to once again drag its feet and keep this teenage
terrorist in prison for the next 15 years without taking any action and prove
to the world that INDIANS ARE GUTLESS.

Regards

[Goanet] not mission resignation but mission close booz bars

2008-11-29 Thread jane gillian rodrigues

Dear goankars,

Please don't do anything as silly as MISSION RESIGNATION.

Goans are known to be stupid people who keep wasting money on nearly, annual
elections.

The need of the hour today, is to have good security in place, and nothing
else, so that bomb blasts or terrorist attacks, do not take place. With BJP in
power in Goa, you will not face that problem right now.

It would be better to shut down, the one too many, booze bars instead, which
is the cause of all your numerous problems in Goa.
