 Well, two things. First off, hopefully someone more knowledgeable

 If someone puts a test case in bugzilla, with clear instructions about
 how they are observing a leak, we can investigate.

 I'd be very surprised if gtkmm memory management acted differently
 under
 Windows than Linux. But, of course, you are not using that Windows
 leak-checking function under Linux.

problems with gtkmm windows installer

2006-12-07 Thread oedipus

Hi,

I got some problems with installing gtkmm under my WinXp system. I followed
the steps from the book in Appendix E but when i try the command pkg-config
--cflags gtkmm-2.4, the system is not recognizing the installed libraries.
It tells me to add the gtkmm-2.4.pc to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH enviorment
variable After finding the location of the file I added also this path
there. But now it asks for a file called gobject-2.0. And this I did not
find at all at my pc.

Just to check, I installed after the following order:
1. Dev-Cpp
2. gtk-dev-2.10.6-win32-1
3. gtkmm-devel-2.8.8-2

Thank you in advance for your help
Alex

  gtkmm | general | Ver: 2.4.x

   Summary: Memory leaks under win32 and VS2005
   Product: gtkmm
   Version: 2.4.x
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Normal
 Component: general
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 QAContact: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 GNOME version: Unspecified
   GNOME milestone: Unspecified

Please describe the problem:
The gtkmm stable release leaks memory after an application exits.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create an simple win32 project with the following main function :

#include gtkmm.h
#include windows.h
#include crtdbg.h

int main( int argc, char* argv[] )
{
_CrtSetDbgFlag( _CRTDBG_ALLOC_MEM_DF | _CRTDBG_LEAK_CHECK_DF  );
Gtk::Main kit(argc, argv);
return 0x0;
}

3. observe memory leaks in debug output window when executed in the vs2005
debugger

Actual results:
The above code does the following:

_CrtsetDbgFlag() instructs the platform sdk to track all allocations and to
dump a report of all unfreed allocations at the exit of the program ( this
happens after all process-owned dlls are unloaded from the process memory space
and all global variables are gone and the process is ready to be closed ).

The other two lines should be self-explanatory.

Expected results:
You see about 18 memory leaks in the debug output window of vs2005.

Does this happen every time?
Yes

Other information:
In the above reproduction case, the Gtk:Main objects leaks memory only once.
Executing it in a loop does not introduce more memory leaks, so the impression
of memory belonging to static/global objects is not being freed comes to mind.

A more elaborate test case can be found under
http://rainestorm.org/craine/gtkmm_memleak.zip

Re: problem installing gtkmm with Windows installer

I found the gobject now, after reinstalling everything. But now I got another
problem. The cairo requires the file called libpng12.pc but it is
libpng13.pc installed. It looks like there is a dependency not right, where
can I change that?
