Re: [ha-Safran] Judaica Librarianship, Vol. 18 (2014)

2014-06-17 Thread Ted Koppel
I see that the 2014 issue is there as 13 separate PDFs.

Is there a link to one single PDF in order to download the entire issue in one
operation?

Thanks

Subject: [ha-Safran] Judaica Librarianship, Vol. 18 (2014)

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Volume 18 of Judaica Librarianship is finally
published. The journal’s first online issue is available at
http://ajlpublishing.org. Mazel Tov to AJL!!!

AJL members should use a combination of their full name and email address to
access the full-text articles. If you have any trouble accessing the journal
articles, please contact me by replying to this email. Non-member readers of
ha-Safran may join the association at
http://www.jewishlibraries.org/main/JoinAJL.aspx.

At this point, two back issues of the journal are freely available at
http://ajlpublishing.org: Vols. 16/17 (2011) and Vol. 15 (2009). Thanks to our
Open Access policy regarding back issues, the articles in these volumes have
been downloaded more than 4,200 times, thus exceeding the circulation of both
the print issues and the reported downloads from database providers. That means
that AJL’s impact on the international scholarly community is greater than ever
before. Now that Vol. 18 is published, I plan to upload the other back issues
of Judaica Librarianship, including Vols. 1–10 that are now digitized thanks to
Laurel Wolfson of Klau Library, at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of
Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The production of Vol. 18 would not have been possible without the authors and
anonymous reviewers who contributed their talents and time to the journal; the
copyeditors, especially Judy Wolfthal, who helped with polishing the texts; all
Editorial Board members, especially past Editor-in-Chief Zachary Baker and
Associate Editor for Reviews Jim Rosenbloom, who were extremely helpful; and
Nancy Sack and Karen Ulric who assisted with technology-related issues. THANK
YOU, all!

[ha-Safran] FW: The Library of Higher School of Hebrew Philology in Thorn

2014-06-17 Thread Heidi Estrin
AJLers: FYI, I received this email from the Higher School of Hebrew Philology

Subject: The Library of Higher School of Hebrew Philology in Thorn

Welcome,
I am writing from the Higher School of Hebrew Philology in Thorn, Poland - city
of Copernicus.
Created by the Franciscans, relied on the idea of dialogue, is the only one
institution of this type in Poland. Intercultural and interreligious dialogue
is the leading idea and the aim of our School existence.
School functions since '2010; for all this time it's the object of interest of
academic and artistic circles. It could be one of the unique places on the
European scale. In order to come true our gentle purpose - your assistance
and help are necessary.
Now we complete our book collections and every book passed to Library of the
Higher School of Hebrew Philology will be your contribution to development of
our idea. We need books concering Jewish culture and history but also the other
publications: about philosophy, theology, religious studies, history,
linguistics and other related domains; we are intent on the belles-lettres.
I encourage to pass on the books as donation. Names of the Donors will be
publish on our website; but the most important thing will be constant
attendance in our memory.
Thank you for every donated book and for your kindness.
Yours sincerely

Magen David Yeshivah is a co-ed Sephardic Zionistic yeshivah in Brooklyn.
A librarian in our school should have a love of books and reading, a vast
knowledge of the latest books as well as classics for grades 1-5. The
librarian will have an associate teacher and collaboratively they will work
with classes on library skills and enjoyment of reading. Infusion of
non-fiction and knowledge of the Common Core Standards would be beneficial.
Competitive salary and benefits package available. Please contact Mrs.

[ha-Safran] Budget Cuts finally hit Sinai Temple

2014-06-17 Thread Joel Tuchman
Dear Safranim,

After 18 wonderful years as the Judaic Librarian at Sinai Temple my position
has unfortunately been eliminated due to budgetary reasons. I would like to
be able to continue my career as a Judaic Librarian and would be willing to
relocate in order to do so. I will be in Las Vegas next week and if any of
you either at the convention or who aren't attending but read Hasafran are
aware of anything in our field that is available I would appreciate it if
you'd let me know. Thank you and I'll see you next week in Vegas.

Sincerely,

Joel Tuchman
